Irvin Erickson

Irvin Erickson, age 83, of Baraboo, Wisconsin, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin. Burial will be at the Newport Lutheran Church Cemetery near Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home on Saturday from 9 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. Military rites will be accorded by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells.

Irvin was born October 23, 1925, the fifth child of Erick and Anna (Thompson) Erickson. He grew up on the family farm and attended the Tofson School, a quarter mile away, in Newport Township. He entered the U.S. Army in December of 1944 and was honorably discharged in June of 1947 after a tour of duty that took him to Japan and the South Pacific. In October of 1951 he married Marcella J. McGowan of Brooks, Wisconsin. He was a painter for 15 years and an electrician for 35 years and retired in 1987. Irvin was a member of the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells, the D.A.V. Chapter 60 and V.F.W. Post 8653 both of Verona, Wisconsin. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and playing euchre.

Irvin is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Marcy; dear grandchildren, Anna (Ike) Lanman of Baraboo and Brook Baumgartner of Lewiston, Idaho; great-grandchildren, Conner, Bailey, Kirsten and Dylan Lanman and Angelina Baumgartner; loving sisters, Lucille Dorrow of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Bernietta Dominick of Wisconsin Dells and Berneice (Donald) Grieves of Baraboo and special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth and Arnold; and a daughter, Cynthia Jo (Erickson) Baumgartner who passed away January 14, 2004 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Jerome Vanduch

Jerome Vanduch, age 90, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at his residence with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 5:00 P.M. at the United Presbyterian Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Reverend Steven Keller officiating and military rites provided by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187, Wisconsin Dells. Burial will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Stickney, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the United Presbyterian Church on Thursday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service at 5 P.M. and on Friday, October 17, 2008 at Mt. Auburn Cemetery from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.

Jerome was born April 2, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Ludwig and Milly (Blaha) Vanduch. In April of 1943 he married Helen Carson in Alexandria, Virginia. Jerome was a retail manager for many years with W.T. Grant. He and his wife later moved to Wisconsin Dells where he was an enrolled agent for figuring income taxes and he owned and operated a trailer court. Jerome was a member of the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells, active with 4H groups, a baseball coach, an avid bowler, and in his younger years he played soccer. He also enjoyed visiting with people, was very civic minded, and was a very generous and giving man that befriended many people.

Jerome is survived by sons, Vance of Wisconsin Dells and Jay (Ginger) of Brookings, South Dakota; a daughter, Diane (Marty) Hickey of Wisconsin Dells; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; a brother and 2 sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the United Presbyterian Church.

The family would also like to express their gratitude to the many friends that enabled Jerome to live his remaining years at home.

Tomasz Piotrowski

Tomasz Piotrowski, age 58, of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at his residence.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 3, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Monsignor Felix Oehrlein celebrating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 A.M. the time of service at 10:30 A.M.

Tomasz was born March 7, 1950 in Poland, the son of Zenon and Michalina (Jedras) Piotrowski.

Tomasz is survived by his mother, Michalina of Poland; former wife, Helen; sons, Arthur (Vula) of Hoffman Estates, IL, David (Krista) of Chicago, IL and Brian of Peoria, IL; daughter Monica of Whitewater, WI; brothers, Mark and Richard; sister, Elizabeth and his grandchildren, Christopher and David, Jr. He was preceded in death by his father.

Benjamin "Ben" Ford

Benjamin “Ben” Ford, age 41, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin and is an organ donor after himself being an organ recipient years ago.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at the United Presbyterian Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Steven Keller officiating. Visitation will be held at the United Presbyterian Church on Sunday from 1 P.M. until the time of service at 3 P.M.

Ben was born January 28, 1967 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the son of Floyd and Jean (Walker) Ford. He grew up in the Wisconsin Dells area and graduated in 1985 from Wisconsin Dells High School. He had worked at Holiday Wholesale, Wisconsin Dells High School, ForeMost Farms and last as a health care provider. Ben was an accomplished artist and used his talents to paint cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles and murals and he did woodcarvings of birds and fish and hand painted these as well. He also played guitar and gave lessons. Among his favorite pastimes, Ben loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and he was avid about benefit rides for diabetes and muscular dystrophy.

Ben is survived by his parents, Ray and Jean Ford; a sister, Susan (Mike) Anderson; aunts, Janet Jones, Marge Fitzgerald, Dorothy McFarlin and Nancy (Dan) Sayre; uncle, Frank Stover; cousins, nieces, a nephew, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Floyd and Thelma Ford; maternal grandparents, Harold and Marie Walker; uncles, Frank Fitzgerald, David Jones and Charles McFarlin; aunt, Mary Stover and cousin, David Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated.

Fotoula Laskaris

Fotoula Laskaris, age 72, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at her residence with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Father Nick Kasemeotes celebrating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Saturday from 11 A.M. until the time of service at 2 P.M.

Fotoula was born May 27, 1936 in Greece, the daughter of Kostas and Penelope (Pantazopoulou) Simopoulos. In June of 1964 she married Demetrios Laskaris. Together they owned and operated tourist attractions and businesses in the Dells area which has expanded and grown into a major Dells theme resort known as Mt. Olympus Park.

Fotoula is survived by a son, Nickolaos (Evangelia) Laskaris of Wisconsin Dells; a daughter, Penelope (Nicholaos Rokanas) Laskaris of Boca Raton, Florida; a sister, Kanela Kafetzis of Greece and grandchildren, Fotini and Maria Laskaris and Lila and George Rokanas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Tassos Simopoulos.

Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Anargyroi Church, 703 West Center Street, Rochester, Minnesota 55902.

Joseph Heintz

Joseph Heintz, age 18, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin after battling ongoing health issues beginning at a young age.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 28, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at the United Presbyterian Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Reverend Steven Keller officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service at 3:00 P.M.

Joseph was born July 7, 1990 in Portage, Wisconsin. He enjoyed swimming, playing drums and percussion instruments in band. Joseph was a self-proclaimed band geek. In the band department Joe led by example as a tutor and mentor to other band students. He was of high moral character, honest, straightforward, trustworthy and loyal. What he really loved the most was being with his friends. Joseph was a very kind person and friend to everyone. He dearly loved his family and friends very much.

Joseph is survived by his mother, Victoria Remington and father, George Heintz, Jr., both of Wisconsin Dells; brothers, David Flower of New York and Michael (Amanda) Gawel of Wisconsin Dells; and sisters, Heather Remington of Elroy, Wisconsin and Charity (Jameson) Sutherland of New York.

Raymond Weitz

Raymond Weitz, age 70, of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, died Friday, November 28, 2008 at Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 1, 2008 at 12:30 P.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton with Reverend Dennis Schueler officiating. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home on Monday from 11 A.M. until the time of service at 12:30 P.M.

Ray was born April 13, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John and Emma (Christianson) Weitz. He married Patricia Kennedy in Chicago in June of 1973. For over 40 years Ray worked as a furniture mover for Nelson Brothers Furniture in Chicago. Following retirement he and Patricia moved to Lake Delton, where they have lived for the past 6 years.

Ray is survived by his wife, Patricia; a son, Ronald (Janice) Salpietro of New Whiteland, Indiana; daughters, Kimberly (John) Zacharkiewicz, Patricia (Mark Wilson) Steinberg and Diane (Lawrence) Delke all of Island Lake, Illinois and Mary (Timothy) Krzyzak of McHenry, Illinois; one brother; 3 sisters, and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
