Julie Asselin, age 36, of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, died Monday, December 1, 2008 at the University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin with Reverend Dennis Schueler officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.
Julie was born April 5, 1972 in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harold and Karen (Balfanz) Radish.
Julie is survived by her husband, Paul; a daughter, Sarah; parents, Harold and Karen Radish; a sister, Mary Kay (Jeff) Radish; parents-in-law, Victor and Karen Asselin; a step-daughter, Melissa Johnson and step-granddaughter, Autumn. Also survived by other relatives and friends.
John Randell
John Randell, age 77, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2008 at 12:00 Noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Dennis Schueler officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Somers, Wisconsin, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 13, 2008. Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 12 Noon. Military rites will be provided by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells, at the church.
John was born August 22, 1931 in Wardell, Missouri, the son of Alfred and Carrie (Taylor) Randell. He grew up in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois and enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country during the Korean Conflict. In March of 1955 he married Doris Caviezel in Kenosha, Wisconsin. John had worked for American Motors in Kenosha for 30 years and 4 months, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Autoworkers Union; the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells and was a former Quartermaster; and a member of the Cooties Veterans Club of Adams, Wisconsin.
John is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, Edward (Brenda) Randell of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Lawrence (Nancy) Randell of Kenosha; a daughter, Cynthia (Ted) Schnaare of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin; mother, Carrie Randell of Kenosha; and six grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Dawn and Jacob Randell and Jarrett and Brian Schnaare. He was preceded in death by his father; sisters, Ann Adams and Cora McFarland; and a son, John Timothy Randell.
Kathy Brown
Katherine “Kathy” Brown, age 72, of Baraboo, Wisconsin, passed away at her home Wednesday, December 3, 2008, with her family by her side. She was born in the Township of Westfield, Sauk County, on April 16, 1936, the daughter of Paul and Lydia (Harms) Meyer, Sr.
Kathy was a 1955 graduate of Reedsburg High School. On February 4, 1956, she married James L. Brown at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Loganville. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, golfing, and spending time in Arizona. She worked at the Wilderness Hotel and Golf Resort as a retail manager for the past 5 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Baraboo.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Jim, of 52 years; three children: Ronald (Susan) Brown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Pamela (Richard) Steele of Baraboo, and Robert (Karlyn) Brown of Baraboo; five grandchildren; Jennifer and Travis Steele, and Austin, Kelsey and Mason Brown; two brothers, Reuben and Paul Meyer of Reedsburg; one sister, Louise (Richard) Kaun of Loganville; and one sister-in-law, Dolores Meyer of Reedsburg. Other survivors include nieces, nephews, family and friends. Her parents and one brother, Donald Meyer, preceded her in death.
The family will honor her wishes by having a private memorial service. The Brown family would like to thank Dr. Frontiera and Dr Kostelyna and their staff, and Home Health United.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations intended for St. John’s Lutheran School of Baraboo or the American Cancer Society may be sent to the family.
John Cantrell
John Cantrell, age 56, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008, as a result of a snowmobile accident.
Memorial funeral services will be held Monday, December 29, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at the Picha Funeral Home, the former Fedderly-Axtell Funeral Home, in Wisconsin Dells, with Reverend Steven A. Miller officiating. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home on Monday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at 10:30 A.M.
John was born January 15, 1952 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Jane (Rosa) Cantrell. He was a construction worker for Shaw Builders for many years. John’s most favorite things to do were spending time with his grandchildren and snowmobiling.
John is survived by his dear friend, Kathleen Cantwell of Mauston, WI; his children Curtis of Hayward, CT, Jaycey Cantrell of Neshkoro, WI, Tato Rivera of San Diego, CA, Michael Cantwell of Plymouth, WI, Alisa Cantwell of Wisconsin Dells and Sarah Umfress of Middleton, WI; brother, David Cantrell of Kenosha, WI; sisters, Margaret Hannes of Somers, WI, Colleen Kuevelbecki of St. Paul, MN and Colette Laudenbach of St. Joseph, MN and his nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Henry Cantrell and his parents, Vern and Jane Mattson.
Arlene Marslender
Arlene Marslender, age 78, and a longtime resident of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Memorial funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Dells Delton United Methodist Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Steven Miller officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.
Arlene was born in the Town of York in central Wisconsin, the daughter of Roman and Della (Conrad) Goetz on February 15, 1930 and grew up on a farm outside of Loyal. She lived in Marshfield, and Oconto Falls, before moving to the Dells area in 1955. She worked in restaurants and grocery stores for many years. She was an active member of her church and community. She helped with Meals On Wheels and did volunteer work at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. She was president of the local Homemakers Club. She participated in the Senior Center in Wisconsin Dells and the Sauk County Commission on Aging. She loved to preserve, can and bake. Her house is full of the ceramics she made and collected.
Arlene was a beloved, kind and generous mother to her children; David Knox of Seattle, Washington, Tom (Nora) Knox of Anchorage, Alaska and Jerry Knox of Bruhl, Germany, and her daughter, Gail (Mike) Squires of Vancouver, Canada. She is further survived by her brother, Ken Goetz of Neillsville, Wisconsin; a grandson, Simon; and two granddaughters, Alexandra and Jordan. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends and acquaintances. Arlene was preceded in death by her first and second husbands.
Jan Onyszko
Jan Onyszko, age 85, of Chicago, Illinois, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Monsignor Felix Oehrlein and Father Andrew Panek concelebrating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.
Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 12 Noon.
Jan was born June 21, 1923 in Wola Sernicka, Poland. In August of 1946 he married Anna Studniarska in Warsaw, Poland. They immigrated to the United States and lived in Chicago where he worked as a tool and die maker. He enjoyed visiting his daughter, Joanna Gogola and her family, in the Wisconsin Dells area.
Robert Carney
Robert “Bob” Carney, Jr., age 66, of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center in Madison, Wisconsin after a brief illness.
Memorial funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Dennis Schueler officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.
Bob was born July 14, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Robert Carney, Sr. and Janice (Mel) Koehler. Following high school Bob enlisted in the U.S. navy and later was honorably discharged. He worked for the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad and following retirement he moved to Wisconsin Dells, to help his mother. He loved reading books so it was only natural for him to work at Book World in Wisconsin Dells. He was also especially fond of animals.
Bob is survived by a brother, John (Jennifer) Koehler of Iron Mountain, Michigan; nephews, Tyler, Eric and Steven; a niece, Kelsy; longtime friends, Linda and David Matrick and daughter; and a host of friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
