Cax sep sga (meaning white eagle), Clinton GreenCrow, age 43, of Baraboo, Wisconsin, began his spiritual journey with the Lord Sunday, November 9, 2008.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Native American Church between Lyndon Station, and Wisconsin Dells, with Gordon Thunder officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at the Native American Church on Wednesday beginning at 3 P.M.
Clinton, also known as Hayna Fats, was born September 28, 1965 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Henry and Betty (McKee) GreenCrow, Sr. Clinton has lived in the Dells area since 1993, was a proud member of the Bear clan, and a lifelong member of the Native American Church. Clinton was also very artistic and had a natural talent for singing and dancing, applying his abilities to the Eyabay Drum Group and Lake Delton HoChunk Singers. Competing in Hartford, Connecticut he was a three time world champion Native American singer. Clinton was also a loving and devoted father.
Survivors include his loving companion, Lucinda; a son, Anthony; daughters, Cherish, Arianna and Quincy; brothers, Henry, Jr., Dustin, David Campbell and Johnny WhiteCloud; sisters, Misty GreenCrow and Patricia Decorah; niece, Hailey; nephew, Holden and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
Orville Maas
Orville Maas, age 94, of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the Fairview Nursing Home in Mauston, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Reverend Steven Keller officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in rural Lyndon Station. Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home on Friday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.
Orville was born May 26, 1914 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, the son of William and Marie (Erstbrung) Maas and grew up in Lake Geneva. In January of 1939 he married Amelia Podrasky in Dubuque, Iowa. He had worked at Trostel Leather Manufacturing in Lake Geneva for 12 years. He then moved to Racine, Wisconsin and worked and eventually retired from Continental Can Corporation. In 1976 he retired to Lyndon Station. Orville loved to golf and had caddied at the age of 13. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and sheepshead; playing dartball and solving crossword puzzles.
Orville is survived by his wife, Amelia; a daughter, Gloria Rettammel of Racine; grandsons, Robert (Amy) Rettammel and Scott (Jennifer) Rettammel; and 2 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Stefanie. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 3 sisters; and a son-in-law, August Rettammel.
Frances Burns
Frances Burns, age 87, of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells.
The Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station with Father G. Valentine Joseph celebrating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Evanston, Illinois. Visitation will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 10:00 A.M.
Frances was born August 8, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Murphy) McMannamon. In July of 1949 she married Geoffrey Burns in Chicago. She worked many years as a secretary for Douglas Aircraft and Bell Telephone.
Frances is survived by nephews, Michael, James and Dennis Latuszek and their families; a niece, Sister Carol Meyers and a very good friend, Jeri Ripp. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Eilleen Latuszek and Virginia Meyers.
Berneice Dombek
Berneice Dombek, age 84, of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, died Monday, November 24, 2008 at Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston, Wisconsin.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 28, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station with Father Valentine Joseph celebrating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station on Friday from 9 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. and then process to the church.
Berneice was born July 14, 1924 in Mauston, Wisconsin, the daughter of Matt and Anna (Warme) Riddlestine. She grew up in rural Mauston in Seven Mile Creek Township. In May of 1947, she married George Dombek in Mauston. He preceded her in death in October of 2004. She was a member of the Maurice C. Havey V.F.W. Post 5970 Auxiliary of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin; the Lyndon Station Village Fire Department Auxiliary and the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Ladies Sodality.
Berneice is survived by a son, Jerome (Cheryl) Dombek of Hibbing, Minnesota; daughters, Barbara (Ronald) Steponkus of Edgerton, Wisconsin and Jeanne Dombek of Beloit, Wisconsin; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond (Betty) Riddlestine of Mauston; and sisters, Ruth Clark of Mauston, Elaine (Jerry) Kotek of Friendship, Wisconsin and Delores (Mike) Fitzgerald of Rockton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Mathew and Leo ; sisters, Loretta Griffa, Marie Donovan, Irene Kelley and Margaret Quinn and a grandson, Douglas Dombek.
Wayne Elfers
Wayne Elfers, age 73, of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, formerly of Janesville, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
Memorial funeral services will be held Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Schneider Funeral Home in Janesville with Reverend Marilyn Merrill officiating. Interment of his cremains will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held at the Schneider Funeral Home on Sunday from Noon until the time of service at 2 P.M.
Wayne was born November 26, 1934 in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, the son of Walter and Marie (Hiller) Elfers. He grew up in Soldiers Grove and the family moved to Janesville in 1954. Wayne married Bonnie Copus in September of 1956 in Viroqua, Wisconsin. He retired from General Motors after 34 years in 1989 and moved to rural Lyndon Station. In his early years he was a motorcycle enthusiast and he enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River with his father. Later he looked forward to spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Jeffrey (Janine) Elfers of Lyndon Station; daughters, Julie (Bill) Schlicht and Cheri (Bob) Dabson both of Janesville and Lynn (Tim) Weisenberger of Wharton, New Jersey; a brother, Kevin (Sandy) Elfers of Baraboo; sisters, Marlene Winnie, Elaine (Mel) LeFoll, and Bonnie (Ed) Trapp all of Janesville; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arnold; favorite aunt, Ella Miller and a brother-in-law, Wayne Winnie.
Betty Seidler
Betty Seidler, age 68, of Mauston, Wisconsin, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at her residence.
Betty was born October 31, 1939 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, the daughter of James and Mildred (Howland) Gunn. Betty loved bowling and bicycling. She was also a die-hard packer fan.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Kim) Donkle of Madison and Linda Froeman of Baraboo; sons, Tracy (Kathy) Seidler of Wisconsin Dells, Paul Seidler of Mauston, Kevin (Jean) Seidler of Adams, Jeff (Lynn) Seidler and Chris (Angel) Seidler both of Milwaukee; sisters, Delores Morris, Shirley Koch, Beverly Oberdorf all of Wisconsin Dells; Dorothy Wilkosz of Mauston and Karen (Louie) Wogelfart of Oxford; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Joseph Gunn.
Edward Walsh
Edward T. Walsh, age 84, of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, died Monday, July 21, 2008 at Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston, WI.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lyndon Station with Father Paul Czerwonka celebrating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00-8:00P.M.
Edward was born December 21, 1923 in Seven Mile Creek Township, Juneau County, Wisconsin, the son of Edward and Florence (Trainer) Walsh. Edward served in the U.S. Navy for a short time and received a hardship discharge to come home and help his family with the farm. He was united in marriage to Marion Elizabeth Gerhardt in California, on June 8, 1950. He spent his career as a carpenter. Among his accomplishments was the construction of large buildings at the University of Wisconsin Madison, Badger Ordinance in Baraboo, and the “Row Houses” in Sacramento, CA. He was also an over the road truck driver for Hart Motor Express and Burlington Northern for which he received the Million Mile Safety Award. After his retirement in 1982, he took a trip to Ireland and was able to enjoy the Winter Olympics of 2002 in Utah. He and Marion enjoyed spending winters in California and Arizona with family. He was an avid gardener, deer hunter and loved spending time on his beloved farm in the township of Seven Mile Creek with his horses and tractor.
Edward is survived by his wife Marion; son, Edward “Joe” Walsh of Eagle Colorado; daughters, Roxann Walsh of Sacramento, CA, Maureen (Michael) Mallory of Salt Lake City, UT, Kimberly (Michael) Betthauser of Lyndon Station and Kari Walsh of New Orleans, LA; brother, Maurice (Jeanette) Walsh of Sacramento, CA; sisters Irene Wacker of Sedona, AZ and Mary Norris of Sacramento, CA; and his grandchildren, Briana Mallory, Joe Mallory, Eva Walsh, Kayleen Betthauser and John Walsh. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Mary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lyndon Station or Crest View Home in New Lisbon.
