Donald Udelhofen
Donald Udelhofen, age 75, of Oxford, Wisconsin, died Monday, June 21, 2004 at the University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 24, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oxford Funeral Home in Oxford, with Pastor Brian Rohde celebrating. Military rites will be provided by the Neenah Valley Memorial Post 6003 of Oxford, Wisconsin.
Donald was born November 30, 1928 in Norwood Park, Illinois, the son of Henry and Vera (Williams) Udelhofen. In 1952, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, earned the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged as a corporal in 1954. In May of 1955, he married Sue Nichols in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. Donald owned and operated D & S Air Freight and helped start a neighborhood crime watch program while in Illinois. Later, he moved to Oxford where he owned the Pine Tree Bar for 8 years, served on the Oxford Village board for 17 years and currently was on the Royal Bank Board of Directors and was working for Adesa Auto Auction. He was also a member of the Oxford Lions Club, an avid Bear and Cubs fan, and a devoted father and husband.
Donald is survived by his wfe, Sue; sons, Larry (Lori) and Tom (Pam) both of Baraboo, Wisconsin; a brother, Jim (Theresa) of Chicago; sisters, Arlene Edwards of Irvine, California and Geraldine (Glen) Siepp of Westfield, Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Jack Edwards and other relatives.
Visitation will be held at the Oxford Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. and on Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.
Kathryn "Kitty" Tessman
Kathryn “Kitty” Tessman, age 82, of Oxford, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 with her family by her side at the Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity Endeavor United Church of Christ in Endeavor, Wisconsin, with Pastor Carolyn Kennedy celebrating. Burial will be at the Hill Crest Cemetery in Endeavor, immediately following.
Kathryn was born March 19, 1922 in Endeavor, Wisconsin, the daughter of Byron and Jesse (Coon) Sweney and grew up and graduated from the Endeavor Academy. In September of 1975, she married William Tessman in Endeavor. Kathryn had been the village president and village treasurer of Endeavor; the Jackson Township treasurer; was a lifetime member of the Neenah Valley Memorial V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 6003 of Oxford; a member of the church Women’s Guild; as a young lady was a member of the Neenah Valley Saddle Club where she showed and rode horses winning many ribbons and trophies; she loved cats and dogs and enjoyed playing cards, gambling and bowling.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, William; a son, Loring (Lois) McDonald of Portage; daughters, Vicki Mills of West Bend, Wisconsin, Laura (James) Bonifas and Debra (Larry) Baker both of Portage; stepsons, Terry (Linda) Tessman of Montello, Wisconsin, Ricky (Karen) Tessman of Waukesha, Wisconsin, James (Cindy) Tessman of Janesville, Wisconsin, and Robert Tessman of Pardeeville, Wisconsin; stepdaughters, Lee Ann (Doug) Wathen of Hixton, Wisconsin and Trish (Sam) McNulty of Black River Falls, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Craig (Aleatha) Bonifas, Jeremy (Jennifer) Bonifas, Carl Bonifas, Todd (Michelle) Mills, Timothy Mills, Becki Baker, Lowell McDonald, Emily Tessman, Kari (Derrick) Olson, Jay Tessman, Travis Tessman, Alicia Tessman, Stephanie Wathen, Parker Wathen, Ryan McNulty, Danielle McNulty, Jared McNulty, Donovan Tessman and Joseph Tessman; and great-grandchildren, Dillan, Zachary, Austin and Katelyn Mills, Jalen Bonifas, Tahlia Hardiman and Noah and Hannah Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John, Frank “LeRoy”, Harold and Carl Sweney.
Visitation will be held at the Oxford Funeral Home on Monday from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. and on Tuesday at the church from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.

Nina Mary (Hannifan) Maxwell
September 26, 1943 - April 23, 2013
Nina Mary (Hannifan) Maxwell, 69, was born in Portage, WI, on Sept. 26, 1943 and found eternal peace on April 23, 2013 in Tucson, AZ. She was the daughter of James and Eva (Bessac) Hannifan.
She graduated from Portage High School. She was employed for many years at the Porterhouse Supper Club and retired from the Iron Skillet in 2006. She always enjoyed interacting with customers and co-workers. At this time, she moved to Green Valley, AZ, where she made new friends and enjoyed the warmth and sunshine. She found joy in caring for her two cats (JJ and Misty) who moved with her from Portage.
Nina is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Tim) Schaller, Tucson, AZ, and Joanne (Kirk) Head, Portage, WI; her mother, Eva Hannifan, Portage, WI; sister Jeanne (Ron) Young, Oxford, WI, brothers Ed (Penny) Hannifan, Bremerton, WA and Phil (Julie) Hannifan, Verona, WI and two grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Head, Portage, WI. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Portage, with Father Jim Murphy officiating. Inurnment will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Portage. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 AM until 11 AM.
Ruth Helen Clemmons

Ruth Helen Clemmons, age 83, died on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Columbia County Health Care in Wyocena. She was born on May 22, 1929 in Wisconsin Rapids to William and Erna (Dorpat) Binnebose.
Ruth graduated from Portage High School in 1947. On January 17, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage to Robert Clemmons in Portage; he preceded her in death on January 29, 1996. She was a homemaker and had been a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward. Ruth enjoyed music, knitting, playing cards especially bridge and traveling.
Survivors include 4 children, Robert (Patricia) Clemmons of Pardeeville, Sharon (Jim) Croft of Wisconsin Dells, Ken (Debra) Clemmons of Stoughton and Kay (fiancé – Mark Bush) Carlin of Portage, 9 grandchildren Brian, Corey (Laura), Shauna (Chance), Autumn (Joshua), Mike (Tara), Matt (Karmin), Jacob, James and Jeffery, 6 great-grandchildren Kellen, Jimmy, Jackson, Claire, Joey and Bridget and other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother William Binnebose and a sister Dorothy Ann Kegler.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Portage, with Rev. Alan Boeck officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 11 AM until 1 PM.
Robert Leslie Workman, Jr.

Robert Leslie Workman, Jr., age 93, of Madison, and formerly of Portage, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Madison. He was born on November 30 1919 in Hewitt, MN, to Robert and Matilda (Moodie) Workman.
Robert grew up in Hewitt, MN, and after graduating from Dunwoody Institute he moved to Tipton, IA, to work as a linotype operator for the Tipton Conservative. He entered the US Army in April 1942 and served in the infantry until December 1945. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Sindt on July 17, 1943 in Lacrosse. Robert and his wife operated an ice cream shop in Tipton, later he worked as a linotype operator for the Racine Journal Times, also Town & Country Printers in Columbus, and Petersen Press in Appleton, before retiring to Portage, in 1990.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years Evelyn, of Madison, son Steve (Margot) Workman of Naples, FL, their children Kate and Lindsay, daughter Roxanne (Alan) Glick of Madison, their children David (Carrie) Glick and Cassie (Joe) Cordy, two great-grandchildren, Duke and Diesel Cordy. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 3 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 542 Pleasant View Rd., Middleton, WI 53562. Friends may call at the Kingdom Hall on Saturday from 2 to 3 pm. Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Portage. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Workman family.
Velma Iris Gaffney
February 14, 1927 - April 15, 2013
Velma Iris Gaffney, age 86 years, of Oxford, died on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Oak Park Place in Baraboo. She was born on February 14, 1927 in the Town of Lewiston, to Claude and Rose (Brickwell) Ellis.
Velma was united in marriage to John Harold Gaffney on September 27, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Briggsville; he preceded her in death on December 1, 2011. She worked as a cook for the Wisconsin Dells School District for many years, worked with Harold on the farm, was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Briggsville, a member of the St. Mary’s Alter Society and the New Haven Homemakers. Velma enjoyed cooking, canning, cake decorating, baking, crocheting and knitting and dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include 4 children Virginia (Allen) Rathman of Baraboo, Dan Gaffney of Chicago, Dennis (Lynn) Gaffney of Osceola, and Jane Bloss of Sun Prairie, 12 grandchildren Jeremy Rathman, Joe (Taren) Rathman, Eric Rathman (Cathy King), Kelly (Jeff) Tiesing, Nickie Rathman (Nick Anstett), Bridget Rathman (Luke Tredinnick), Kaleigh and Daniel Gaffney, Joseph, Jack and RJ Gaffney and Kirsti Bloss (Calvin Raedel), 6 great-grandchildren Savannah, Kirsten, Shani, Teagan, Tasha and Donovan and 3 sister-in-laws Dorothy Coon of Big Springs, Katherine Evans of Oxford and Marge Ellis of Lewiston. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Iris Jo, sisters Delilah Koch, Josephine Lapp, Betty Schwellenbach and Sarah Morse and brothers Willard Ellis, Stanley Ellis, Rodger Ellis and Jon Ellis.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Briggsville, with Father James Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Briggsville. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home, Portage, on Thursday from 4 – 7 PM and at the church on Friday from 10 AM until 11 AM. Winifred Joyce Paske

Winifred Joyce Paske, age 93, of Portage, WI, died on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Divine Savior in Portage, WI.
Joyce was born on February 11, 1927 to Max and Ida (Grover) Sainsbury in Rock Springs, WI.
Joyce graduated from Endeavor High school, attended Stevens Point, where she received her normal teaching degree. Her first job was at Dog Hollow School, a one room schoolhouse in the Caledonia hills grades 1-8.
Joyce met Lester Paske when she was a teacher, burning papers in the spring. Les saw the smoke from his home farm and thought that things were too hot at the school, really, he wanted to meet the new school teacher. They married on January 1, 1949 at the Moundville United Methodist Church, during a blizzard.
Joyce took a break from teaching to raise their four children. Returning to teach in 1960 at Lincoln School in Decorah Township, then retired from Caledonia school in 1978.
Joyce and Les enjoyed going out for fish with friends and family, music, enjoyed traveling and driving the Caledonia hills. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary and Idle Hour Homemakers.
Joyce is survived by son Mark (Janelle) Paske their children Jeffrey (Natalie) Paske, Lukas and Evan; Nathan (Jen) Paske, Nick, Brayden and Maxwell. Son Max (Mary Ann) Paske, their children Adam and Lisa. Daughter Bonnie (Michael) Mulhern, their children Stacy (Thomas) Davenport, Hannah and Mariah. Danny (Becky) Mulhern, Klair, Leslie (Jacob) Ciolkosz, Callie and Caitlin. Daughter Carol (Richard) Beckett, their children Mitchell (Jessica) Beckett, Chase and Cole, Tyler (Angie) Beckett Mycah and Mya, Tony (Jennifer) Beckett Vance and Vivian. Survivors also include two sisters Nova (Kenneth) Kyburz, Reva (Darwin) Barron; two sisters-in-law Doris Paske and Angela Hosig, many nieces’ nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Husband Les (July 2001) two granddaughters LeAnn Marie and Kari Ann. Three brother and two sisters-in-laws James (Emma) Sainsbury, Herbert (Carol) Sainsbury and Max Sainsbury.
Due to the Pandemic:
Private family funeral services will be held for Joyce, burial at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Caledonia Township.
Memorials may be given in Joyce’s name to the Portage Food Pantry or St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Association.
Special thanks to the staff at Tivoli where Joyce made her home for the last 10 years, where she was the “Official” greeter for new residents.
