Robert Brague
CAMBRIDGE, Minn. - Robert Brague, 77, of Cambridge, Minn., died December 12, 1997 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
Robert S. Brague was born Nov. 27, 1920 at La Crosse to Oliver and Ragna Brague. It was there that he was raised and lived his early years. He served in the Navy during WWII. On June 23, 1973 he married Ardis Haselius at Kenyon, Minn. They made their home at Isanti, Minn. until moving to Cambridge a year ago. He was a lifetime member of the Isanti VFW and a member of American Legion Post 595 at La Crescent. He was employed as a carpenter. His hobbies included making furniture, toys and doll and bird houses.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian; four brothers, and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Ardis of Cambridge; two sons, Allan and Diane Brague of Winona, Larry and Beth Brague of Cincinnati; two step-sons, Mike and Marie Chalstrom of Las Vegas, Keith and Cheri Chalstrom of Albertville, Minn.; one step-daughter, Julie and Pete Erlendson of Zimmerman, Minn.; sister, Verna Hjelsand of La Crosse; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Monday, December 15, 1997 from the Strike Funeral Chapel in Isanti with Rev. Carl Taylor officiating. Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Isanti Union Cemetery.
Theodore "Ted" Raaum
VIROQUA, Wis. - Theodore ``Ted'' Raaum, 83, of Viroqua, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997 in the Vernon Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Southwest Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Viroqua.
Friends may call Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Thorson Funeral Home, Viroqua, where there will be a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Complete obituary will follow.
Richard `Dick' J. Blowers
Richard ``Dick'' J. Blowers, age 71, of La Crosse, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997 in Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Center.
He was born in Austin, Minn. on Aug. 18, 1926 to James A. and Anna T. (Ulwelling) Blowers. He proudly served his country during WW II in the Pacific Theatre with the United States Navy. He enjoyed the culinary arts, such as his noted ice sculptures, the art of preparing food, and his expertise as a chef at Viterbo College and other area fine restaurants. He also loved to refinish furniture.
He is survived by three daughters, Judy Schneider of Waterloo, Iowa, Nancy Wright and her special friend, Richard of Sparta, Peggy (Gary) Severson of West Salem, Wis.; two sons, David J. (Lori) of La Crosse and Dean ``Dino'' (Debbie) of La Crosse; ten grandchildren, Robert, Steven, Jeremy, Krista, Dana, Tina, Amy, Robin, Tiffany, and Kayla; one sister, Marguerite Burton of Austin, Minn. and his companion, Portialee. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
Memorial services will be held Monday, Dec. 15, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. at the Blaschke Funeral Home, 401 S. West Ave. Rev. Brian King will officiate with burial to be in Austin, Minn. at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Helen Rebarchek
ARCADIA, Wis. - Helen Rebarchek, 74, of Arcadia, Wis., died Friday, December 12, 1997 at the Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.
She was born May 16, 1923 in the Town of Burnside to Joseph and Agnes (Sluga) Severinske. On October 25, 1949, Helen married Clifford Rebarchek at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Independence, Wis. Clifford preceded her in death on November 21, 1996.
Helen has been employed for four years at the A-G Boiler Plant in Arcadia, Wis.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Rebarchek and Wayne (Shelly) Rebarchek, all of Whitehall; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Garepi of California; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Monday, December 15, 1997 at the Wozney Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia, with Rev. Raymond Pedretti officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Esther P. Haugland
CALEDONIA, Minn. - Esther P. Haugland, 88, of Caledonia, Minn., and formerly of Black Hammer, died Saturday, December 13, 1997 at the Lutheran Home, Caledonia.
She was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1909 in Jefferson Township, Minn. to Claus and Christina (Olson) Gran. She attended school at District No. 95 in Jefferson Township and graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1927. Esther then attended the Teacher's Training Department in Spring Grove until 1928 and the Teacher's college in La Crosse. She then taught rural schools in Houston County, Minn. and La Crosse County, Wis. for several years. On June 18, 1938 Esther married Henry Haugland at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia. Together they lived and farmed the Haugland farm in Black Hammer where they were members of Faith Lutheran Church. Esther served on the ladies groups and taught Sunday School and High School Bible Class for several years. She and her husband were 4-H Adult Leaders of the Black Hammer Swift Scooters for many years and Esther also accompanied her husband when he presented ``Chalk Talks'' at various churches, schools, and community gatherings. In February of 1967 Henry preceded Esther in death. In 1968 Esther moved to Caledonia, Minn. and owned and operated a Book Store in Spring Grove for three and a half years. She became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on the ladies groups and she was also a member of the Caledonia Hospital Auxiliary. In 1991 Esther moved into the Caledonia Lutheran Home.
Survivors include a sister, Edna Goetzinger of Apple Valley, Minn.; a nephew, Al (Fran) Olson of Cottage Grove, Minn.; four nieces, Shirley Ziegelmeier of Madison, Wis., Carol Sundell of Bloomington, Minn., Jean (James) Zeimet of Hastings, Minn., and Laurie (Robert) Baker of Indianpolis, Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Ella Gran of Caledonia. In addition to her husband, Esther was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Clara Olson-Lager and a brother, Arthur Gran.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 16, at 11 a.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Rolf T. Storlie will officiate. Burial will follow in the Faith Lutheran church Cemetery of Black Hammer, Minn. Friends may call at the Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, on Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Silas Dahle
Silas Dahle, 81, of La Crosse, died on Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. He was born May 11, 1917, at Houston, Minn., to Nels and Sarah (Thompson) Dahle. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Hazel Byer Luce on Aug. 23, 1953. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1997.
Silas was employed by the Trane Company for 25 years. He was also involved with carpentry and home building.
He is survived by three sisters, Jewell Johnson of Grand Rapids, Minn., Evangeline Gorgos of Minneapolis, Minn., and Doris (John) Scavone of Clinton Township, Mich.; by a stepdaughter, Myrle (Harry) Blair of La Crosse; and by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Pearl Solie and an infant sister, Jewel; and by three brothers, Arden, Herman, and an infant brother, Nels.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Reverend Thomas Hilliard will officiate. Burial will be in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Memorials may be given to the church or to Luther High School, Onalaska, Wis.

Wayne J. Gilbertson
TREMPEALEAU, Wis. - Wayne J. Gilbertson, 62, of Trempealeau, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at his home. He was born Nov. 26, 1936, in Arcadia, Wis., to Goodwin and Genevieve (Sobotta) Gilbertson. He married Verna G. Hanson on April 30, 1955, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Arcadia. He was co-owner of Gilbertson Trucking in Trempealeau for 35 years. Wayne was a member of St. Bartholomew Parish in Trempealeau.
Survivors include his wife, Verna of Trempealeau; three children, Michael Wayne (Cindy) of Trempealeau, Andrea Katherine (Matthew) Mlynczak of Trempealeau, and Thomas James (Janann Snider) of Winona, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Jessica Gilbertson, Angela Mlynczak, Sara Gilbertson, Christopher Gilbertson, Lance Mlynczak, Jade Gilbertson and Jared Gilbertson; and three sisters, Beverly Rojas, Mary Osley and Connie Stach, all of La Crosse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Ann Marae; and a brother, Kenneth.
Wayne will be remembered as a strong, silent person who loved his family. He enjoyed many things in life, especially his dogs, and in recent years, a hobby of driving old cars. Wayne was gifted in his knowledge of mechanics. His expertise was listening to the sound of an engine and knowing immediately what the problem was. His unique ability of mechanics was taught and shared with his sons. He will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at 1 p.m. at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Trempealeau. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Trempealeau. The Reverend Robert Wagner will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home, Winona, and from noon until the time of Mass Thursday at the church. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Doug Wobig, Jeff Schneider, Duane Wobig, Paul Schmidt, Jim Reinarts and Bill Beach. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Christopher, Lance and Jared. Flower girls will be his granddaughters, Jessica, Angela, Sara and Jade.
Abigail Holley Reinke
FALLBROOK, Calif. - Abigail Holley Reinke, 57, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, in Fallbrook.
She was born Dec. 10, 1940, in La Crosse, Wis. She attended Campus School and graduated from La Crosse Central High School.
Services were held Friday, Nov. 20 in Marine Memorial Chapel, Camp Pendleton.
Burial was Monday, Nov. 30 in Arlington National Cemetery.

Manilla D. Strayer
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. - Manilla D. Strayer, 100, of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, in Prairie Health Care Center. She was born Oct. 18, 1898, in Prairie du Chien.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Sunday in United Methodist Church and inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to United Methodist Church, Prairie du Chien.
