Wilfred H. Tauscher
WEST SALEM, Wis. - Wilfred H. Tauscher, 74, of West Salem, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at Mulder Health Care Facility, West Salem.
He was born Mar. 4, 1924, in Barre Mills, to Herman and Adelia (Hemker) Tauscher. On Oct. 26, 1943, he married Irene Heuer at St.. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bangor. Wilfred farmed for over 50 years in the Barre Mills area until the time of his retirement. He was actively involved with Tri-State Breeders Association. Wilfred enjoyed working with the children of 4-H and will be well remembered for his involvement as dairy superintendent at the La Crosse County Fair. He was member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Barre Mills and the church council, where he served as council president for several years. Wilfred was also a member of the church Men's Club and served as a school board member for St. John's Lutheran School.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; two sons, LeRoy (Lynda) of West Salem, and Rev. James (Patricia) of Boulder, Colo.; seven grandchildren, David (Amy), Lisa (fiance Timothy Gray) Tauscher, Laura (Randy) Daigle, Joel, Rachel, Andrew and Rebekah; a sister, Elvera (Ray) Schneider of Barre Mills; and a step brother, Bill (Elaine) Knight of La Crosse. He was preceded in death by his stepsister, Margaret Clark.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at 11 a.m. from St. John's Lutheran Church, Barre Mills. Pastor Paul N. Schossow will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Jostad-Jandt Funeral Home, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem, on Friday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Barre Mills or Luther High School.
David J. Emmert
HOLMEN, Wis. - David J. Emmert, 42, of Holmen, and formerly of La Crosse, died with his family at his side, on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, in his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 31, 1956, in La Crosse to John and Dorothy (Rittenhouse) Emmert. He married Vicky L. Revels on Nov. 19, 1998, in Sioux falls, S.D. Dave was a 1974 graduate of La Crosse Central High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served two years active duty. Following his discharge from active duty, he served four years in the Naval Reserve. Dave worked for the La Crosse Trane Co. as a foreman in plant 7. He was a volunteer with the Shelby Fire Department.
In addition to his wife, Vicky, he is survived by his daughter, Sara Emmert of Holmen; his step daughter, Staci Lynn Campbell of Holmen; two step sons, Michael Scott Campbell of Holmen, and Matthew Lawrence Campbell of Holmen, all of which he loved as his own; a grandson, Devin of Holmen; his parents, John and Dorothy of Trempealeau, Wis.; a sister, Sharon (Dennis) Emery of Holmen; a brother, Virgil (Michele) Emmert of Garland, Texas; his mother-in-law, Augusta L. Revels of La Crosse; two brothers-in-law, Virgil F. Revels and Dennis (Laura) Revels, both of La Crosse; three sisters-in-law, Debrah (Randy) Stephens of Onalaska, Diane Linhart and Reta (Bryan) Pahl, both of La Crosse; as well as special friends, Kurt (Patty) Kraemer of La Crosse, Mike (Rhonda) Mathews of Coon Valley, Wis., Lynn St. Jacque of Holmen, Rita Chandler of La Crosse, Randy (Vickie) Gartner of Holmen.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. The Rev. Mark F. Bartling will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Farmer's Valley Cemetery, Sparta, Wis. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Darol D. Rodenberg
Darol D. Rodenberg, 73, of 820 Hagar Street, died at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Saturday, December 6, 1997. He was born October 7, 1924, at West Salem, to Fred and Dora (Miller) Rodenberg. He married LaVonne Pederson on August 13, 1949.
Darol worked at the Auto Lite, Consumers Bakery and retired from La Crosse Footwear. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of French Island American Legion Post 417.
In addition to his wife, LaVonne, he is survived by a daughter, Lynette (Gary) Dettinger, of La Crosse, a son, Rockne (Diane) Rodenberg, of Madison; by three grandchildren, Richard (Barbara) Dettinger, of Rochester, Minn., Douglas and Julia Rodenberg of Madison; a brother, Fred Rodenberg of St. Paul, Minn. and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
"Darol was a kind and gentle man and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was loved greatly and will be dearly missed by his family and friends."
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Olivet Lutheran Church. The Reverend David Baldkas will officiate. Burial will be in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 809 Gillette Street, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Douglas H. Sacia
GALESVILLE, Wis. - Douglas H. Sacia, 78, of Galesville, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, in Lakeview Health center, Wets Salem, Wis. He was born April 1, 1920, in Galesville, to Percy and Mary (Howard) Sacia. On Sept. 9, 1941, he married Elizabeth `San Ann' Carlson in Trempealeau, Wis. Doug farmed in the Galesville area with his cousin Leon prior to retirement.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Galesville, where he was a past elder, a past member of the Galesville Curling Club, and Trempealeau County farm Bureau.
Survivors include his devoted wife, `San' of Galesville; a son, James (Marlys) of St. Croix Falls, Wis.; a daughter, Judith (William) Montgomery of Boca Raton, Fla.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Wegmann of Brookfield, Wis.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at 7 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Galesville, with Rev. Dr. R. Steven Krueger officiating. Burial will be 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, in Pine Cliff Cemetery, Galesville.
Friends may call at the church Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.. Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville assisted the family.
Bernard Thomas Gianoli
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Bernard Thomas Gianoli, 78, of Sacramento, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998. Beloved husband of Patricia M. Gianoli of Sacramento. Loving brother of David Gianoli of Hudson, Wis.; Francis Gianoli and his wife, Louise of Hobart, Ind.; and Wynne Gianoli of La Crosse, Wis.; brother-in-law of Dorothy Gianoli of Genoa, Wis.; and Louella Gianoli of Lancine, Ill. Also survived by 12 nephews and seven nieces. Preceded in death by three brothers. A native of Genoa, Wis. Recitation of rosary, Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at 7 p.m., in the North Sacramento Funeral Home, 725 El Camino Ave., Sacramento, Calif. Kendon G. Huppert
Kendon G. Huppert, 29, died of AIDS on Thanksgiving Day at his Riverplace home. His family was by his side.
Kendon was born on Jan. 23, 1969, in Moscow, ID, to George Huppert and Lorraine Lester. He attended UW-L from 1989-1993, majoring in psychology/sociology. As an AIDS educator, he spoke to many groups across the Coulee region and was a leader of the La Crosse HIV-support group. He was also a regular contributor to the La Crosse Tribune's "Your Views" column.
Ken is survived by Jack Wallace, his partner of 6-1/2 years; his father, George Huppert, and stepmother, Betty Wheeler, of La Crosse; his mother, Lorraine Lester, of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Steve Huppert, of New York, NY; and one sister, Susanna Lester, of Albuquerque.
The public is invited to attend combined funeral/memorial services on Saturday, Dec. 5th, at 1 p.m. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at noon. Friends may also visit from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4th.

Norma Jean Clark
VIROQUA, Wis. - Norma Jean Clark, age 69, of Route #3, Viroqua, died at her home on Saturday evening, December 6, 1997. She was born in Chicago on June 13, 1928 to John and Mildred (Holley) Wardwell. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in Morgan Park, Ill. She was an editor for Who's Who and also was a published writer. She had been and adult leader in 4-H, Cub Scouts, Brownies, and had served two terms as Worthy Matron of the Henrietta Chapter West Order of Eastern Star in Chicago. For several years she owned and operated a retail store in St. Charles, Ill. dealing with doll houses and miniatures. In August, 1993 she moved to rural Viroqua where she raised sheep so she could spin, weave and knit. She currently was a member of the Two Ridges Homemakers Club.
Norma is survived by two sons, Robert (Linda) Clark, of Seneca, Ill., John (Evelyn) Clark, of Aurora, Ill., one daughter, Stephanie (Nick) Lauer, of Rockford, Ill., one son-in-law, Charles (Sharon) Mennerick, of St. Charles, Ill., nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, a special friend, Lois Stoos, of rural Viroqua, and Lois's children. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Barbara Galgoul.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua, with Pastor Richard Kraemer officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday after 8 a.m. The family prefers memorials to the Vernon Memorial Hospital Hospice Program.
Esther E. Iverson
Esther E. Iverson, 85, of La Crosse, died at Bethany Riverside Care Center, Saturday, December 6, 1997. She was born November 26, 1912 in La Crosse, to Edward and Laura (Johnson) Larson. She married Carl H. Iverson on May 25, 1940 at Trinity Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1986.
She graduated from Logan High School in 1930 and became the secretary for the principal, Donald Field. She moved to Washington D.C. in 1936 where she worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She returned to Wisconsin in 1937 and worked for the Wisconsin Soil Conservation Department at Fennimore.
She had served as a member of the YWCA Board of Directors and served on the Joint Building Committee for the YMCA-YWCA. She was a member of the La Crosse Country Club, a proud member of the "Hole in One Club" and an enthusiastic member of the T.G.I.F. Club. She received the Sis Hutson Award for Service to the La Crosse YWCA.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Leigh (Mary) Iverson, of Piedmont, CA., and their children, Leisel, Rachel and Sarah Iverson, Donald (Virginia) Iverson, of La Crosse, and their children, Corie (Steve) Nickels and Merritt Iverson; by a daughter, Laura (Randy) Wiedman, of La Crosse, and their children, Andria, Jennifer and Leanna Wiedman. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn, who died in 1944, by two sisters, Agnes Fox and Marie Hendrickson and two brothers, Laurence and Edward Larson.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Reverend Ted Dewald will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson Street, today from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Coulee Region YWCA, La Crosse Boys and Girls Club or to a charity of the donors choice.
