Mary M. Zalumskis
Mary M. Zalumskis, 93, Union Grove, died Oct. 20, 2001, at Oak Ridge Care Center, Union Grove.
She was born in Lithuania on May 27, 1908, to the late John and Veronica (Stuncaitis) Micius. Her early life was spent in Chicago, Ill. She attended Chicago area schools and Province of God.
On April 21, 1929, she married Stanley Zalumskis at Immaculate Conception Church, Chicago. They lived in Chicago following marriage. He preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1970.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Union Grove, and enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Huff, Kansasville; grandchildren, Julie and Greg Janke, Pell Lake, and Mark and Adele Huff, Oak Creek; great-grandchildren, Taylor Huff and Jessica Parrett; and her dog, Snuffer.
She was further preceded in death by sisters, Veronica Krejsa and Josephine Mrazek.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 23 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. The Rev. Howard Haase officiated. Burial was in St. Casimir Cemetery, Chicago. Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Joseph Justen Sr.
Joseph Justen Sr., 83, Richmond, died Oct. 15, 2001, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock, Ill.
He was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Solon Mills, Ill., the son of the late Nick M. and Celia (Freund) Justen.
On July 19, 1944, in Syracuse, N.Y., he was united in marriage to Lois MacDuffie.
He attended elementary and high school in Richmond. He owned and operated Richmond Cement Products from 1946 until retiring in 1982. He was the first Richmond Police motorcycle officer and the last surviving charter member of the Richmond Rotary Club.
A World War II veteran, he served as a Lieutenant Commander in the Merchant Marines and the Coast Guard from January 1941 to August 1945, with duty in the Mediterranean, Pacific and Atlantic oceans. He was a member of the VFW; American Legion; International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians; and the Flying Farmers of America. He served on the Richmond Grade School Board, Richmond Village Board and Zoning Department.
Survivors include his wife; daughter Linda Justen, Tampa, Fla.; son Robert (Charlene), Richmond, Ill.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Marie Martin, McHenry, Ill.; Jacqueline Justen, Rockton, Ill.; and brother Elmer (Helen), McHenry, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a son Joseph Jr., a brother Roger, and sisters Dorothy Whitamore and Clarene Justen.
Services were held Oct. 18, at the Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home in Richmond, with Rev. Terry Dufur officiating. Donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.

Edward J. Kleich
Edward J. Kleich, 90, Pell Lake, died Oct. 20, 2001, at Burlington Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 25, 1910, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Helen Kleich.
On June 27, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., he was united in marriage to Helene Krzemkowski.
They lived in Chicago until moving to Pell Lake 20 years ago. He worked as a machinist for the George L. Simmons Company in Chicago for 39 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pell Lake. He enjoyed fishing and building bird houses.
Survivors include his wife; sons Kenneth (Geraldine), Des Plaines, Ill.; Thomas (Jeanette) Pell Lake, Wis.; daughter Dorothy Jimenez, Pell Lake, Wis.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 24, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pell Lake with Rev. Dennis D. Callahan officiating. Interment was in Bloomfield Cemetery.

Felipe R. Esparza III
Felipe "Phil" Ruiz Esparza III, 23, McCallen, Texas, died Oct. 23, in Mexico.
He was born April 7, 1978, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Felipe and Joanne (Majewski) Ruiz Esparza, Jr.
He lived in Elmwood Park, Ill., before moving to Texas eight years ago. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his mother, Joanne (Tom) Allo, Elmwood Park, Ill; father Felipe (Jane) Ruiz Esparza, McCallen, Texas; brothers, Michael O'Brady and Anthony Allo, both of Elmwood Park, Ill.; sisters, Heather (James) Schultz, Robin Priola, both of Chicago, Ill; and Tammy O'Brady, Elmwood Park, Ill.; grandparents Betty Majewski, Twin Lakes, Wis.; Robert (Jean) Majewski, Chicago, Ill.; aunt Karen (Tom) Knautz, Genoa City, Wis.; and a niece and nephew in Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his aunt Sharon Majewski.
A service celebrating his life was held Oct. 29, at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home in Twin Lakes. Inurnment was in St. John's Cemetery.

Katherine A. Peterson
Katherine A. Peterson, 91, Bristol, died Oct. 23, 2001, at the Rush Northshore Medical Center in Skokie, Ill.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1910, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Orvile and Katherine (Wartner) Denio.
On May 28, 1938, in Chicago, Ill., she was united in marriage to Glenmore J. Peterson. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1995.
She had spent her summers and weekends in Bristol for many years before moving permanently to Lake George in 1975. She worked for several years as a switchboard operator for the Lutheran Ministry of Chicago. She was a member the St. Scholastica Church in Bristol; AARP in Antioch; and the Senior Center in Twin Lakes and Westosha.
Survivors include daughters Geraldine A. O'Connell, Skokie, Ill.; Mary M. Leslie, Antioch, Ill.; son Russell Peterson, Lake Geneva, Wis.; sister Anna Kalemba, Schaumburg, Ill.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by granddaughters Janice and Melissa Peterson; sisters Alice, Edith, and Elizabeth; and brother Fred.
Funeral services with Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 26, at St. Scholastica Church. Interment was in All Saints Cemetery in DesPlaines, Ill. Those desiring may make contributions for Masses in her memory.

Frances M. Trumpulis
Frances M. Trumpulis, 87, Trevor, died Oct. 27, 2001, at the Woodstock Health Care Center in Kenosha.
She was born May 26, 1914, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the daughter of the late Frank and Cleo (Wald) Wolverton.
She lived in Wisconsin and Illinois most of her life. She worked for several years at the Ben Franklin Store in Antioch, Ill.
Survivors include a daughter Dorla Miller, Tucson, Ariz.; daughter-in-law Paula Trumpulis, Trevor, Wis., (with whom she lived); sister Evelyn Battersby, California; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley; sons, Darwin and Frank, and daughter Denise Hatch.
Funeral services and interment was private.

Jon M. Radtke
Jon M. Radtke, 68, Bloomfield Township, died Oct. 10, 2001, at Lakeland Medical Center, Elkhorn.
He was born in Green Bay on Jan 16, 1933. He graduated from Sioux Saint Marie High School in Michigan with the class of 1951. He attended Michigan State University.
He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps (U.S. Air Force.)
On April 17, 1991, he married Beverly Alisases Carvajal in the Philippines.
He owned and operated the Radtke Construction, with his son, Michael, for many years.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Wendy (Robert) Timman, Toledo, Ill.; sons, Michael, Elkhorn, and Jon M. Jr., Bloomfield Township; stepsons, Victor Todd and Timothy Todd; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 15 at Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, Lake Geneva. The Rev. Joseph Kaiser officiated.
