Frederick L. Hopf
Frederick L. Hopf, 93, died Sunday (Feb. 27, 2000).
Born in Kenosha on Nov. 21, 1906, he was the son of the late Frederick and Christina (Schutz) Hopf. A life-long resident of Kenosha, he attended Kenosha schools and graduated from Kenosha High School.
He married Genieve Sabin, who preceded him in death in 1951. In November 1957, he married Jessie Savaglio.
In 1933 he was the first office employee at Dynamatic Corporation. In November 1971, he retired after being general manager from 1949 to 1971.
He was past chairman and member of the Police and Fire Commission, past president and member of the Kenosha Country Club Board, past president and board member of Kenosha Hospital for 32 years, and past president and board member of Kenosha Manufacturers. He was a member of the board of the First National Bank, Young Radiator, Kenosha Youth Foundation, Red Cross, Frost Company, Goodfellows, United Fund, Bradford Alumni, Sr. Golf of Wisconsin, Historical Society, Taxpayer's, Children's Social Services, Masonic Lodge 47, Shrine, Scottish Rite, Tripoli Temple, and Consistory. He was a member of Elks Propeller Club, 35 and 306 Clubs. He was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church.
He is survived by he wife, Jessie; a son Ralph of Beaver Dam; a daughter, Corinne Lines of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Hariett in infancy, Bessie Wegman and Evelyn Pias.

Paul A. Gibbs
Paul A. Gibbs, 27, Kenosha, died Monday (May 15, 2000).
Born Nov. 29, 1972, in Kenosha, he was the son of Richard P. Gibbs and Jane Mikolyzk Gibbs Greene.
A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he attended local schools and graduated from Bradford High School. He attended Gateway Technical College for two years.
He owned and operated Gold Mine Lounge. Prior to that he worked at Jockey International Distribution Center.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed spending time on his property in New Lisbon.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, James Greene; and two sisters, Lynn DiCello and Michelle Fisher, both of Kenosha; and his grandmother, Charlotte Mikolyzk.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard P. Gibbs on June 21, 1993.

Thomas William Campbell Brown
Thomas William Campbell Brown, 82, of Kenosha died at Hospitality Manor Nursing & ReHab Center on Tuesday (May 23, 2000).
Born on Aug. 3, 1917, in Homer City, Pa., he was the son of the late John Leonard and Beatrice (Painter) Brown.
He attended schools in Pennsylvania and resided there until moving to the Hinsdale, Ill. area. In 1989 he moved to Boyd, Wis., and resided there until November 1999 when he moved to Kenosha.
He was a self-employed home builder.
He was married to Anna Mae Ingham and that marriage ended in divorce. He later married Wanda Turkowski. She died on July 21, 1973.
Survivors include two daughters, Lois Eileen Laughery and Jeanne Diane Diedrich, both of Kenosha; two sons, William Richard Brown of Orland Park, Ill., and Robert Thomas Brown of Romeoville, Ill.; a sister, Norma Rathgeb of Murraysville, Pa.; three brothers, Harold of Rockwood, Mich., Ralph of Arnold, Pa., and James of Redding, Calif.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Stevens on Dec. 5, 1997.

Evelyn R. Johnson
Evelyn R. Johnson, 84, formerly of Kenosha, late of Racine, died Thursday (May 25, 2000) at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center.
Born April 10, 1916, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Emma (Seiter) Luebke.
On Nov. 27, 1937, she married Gerald G. Johnson. He died Feb. 2, 1994.
She worked at Brehm Drug Co. and was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
Surviving are two sons, Gerald and Tom, both of Racine; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Richard and three sisters, Gladys Swank, LaVerne Julius and Janet Luebke.

Richard W. "Bill" Miller II
Richard W. "Bill" Miller II, 62, professor of geography at Carthage College, died Monday (June 5, 2000) at his Racine home following an 18-month battle with lung cancer.
Born Nov. 2, 1937, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, he was the son of Richard "Dick" W. Miller I and Rachel Orpha Miller. He spent his youth in Indianapolis and was graduated from Warren Central High School in 1955.
From 1955 to 1963, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
On Dec. 28, 1958, he married Margaret Skinner in Charles Town, W.V.
In 1959, he received a B.S. degree at Indiana State University and in 1966 an M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
From 1959 to 1965, he taught geography and history at Lincoln Junior High School. He joined the faculty of Carthage College in 1965. He founded its geography program. He received the Carthage Distinguished Teacher Award, the Sears Roebuck Award for Outstanding Teaching and Campus Leadership, and in 1999 the Carthage Flame, the highest honor the College bestows.
He also taught on an ad hoc basis for UW-Parkside, Dominican College of Racine, and Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Professional Studies at military bases around the country.
He was a member of the Association of American Geographers (AAG), for which he served as chair of the West Lakes Division. In 1999, the AAG awarded him a commendation for distinguished service to the profession. He was vice president and West Lakes Regional Counselor for Gamma Theta Upsilon, the international geography honor fraternity.
He also served as a consultant to several corporations, the city of Kenosha, Kenosha County, the state of Wisconsin, Lake County, Ill., and the city of Zion, Ill.
Other activities included serving as president of Wisconsin Children's Service Society and secretary of the Kenosha County Board of Zoning Adjustments and Appeals.
He was a member of the Kenosha Plymouth Congregational Church.
Surviving are his wife; his sons, Richard W. III of Milwaukee, Paul of Kenosha, and Mark of New York City; a daughter, Anna of Evanston, Ill.; his mother of Indianapolis; his sister, state Senator Patricia Miller of Indianapolis; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.

John E. Locke
John E. Locke, 73, of Kenosha, died Thursday, (Oct. 5, 2000), at Somerset Community Hospital in Somerset, Pa.
Born Dec. 30, 1926, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of the late John E. and Genevieve (Smith) Locke.
He lived in Watertown, Conn., before moving to Kenosha as a child. He attended St. Mark's School and Bradford High School.
Before joining the Army, he also attended the University of Notre Dame. He later attended Regis College in Denver, Colo., and graduated from Marquette University. He also did post-graduate work at Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
In November 1968, he married Anna Dailey in Kankakee, Ill.
He was an industrial engineering supervisor at American Motors until his retirement in 1982. He was an instructor at Gateway Technical Institute for nine years and later worked for Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Survivors include his wife, and a sister, Genevieve A. Locke of Kenosha.
His parents preceded him in death.

Nellie M. Repka
Nellie M. Repka, 84, of Kenosha, died Friday (Dec. 1, 2000) at her residence.
Born Dec. 8, 1915, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Johan and Maria (Jakubek) Repka. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she attended local schools.
She was employed by local and U.S. governments throughout her life, most recently serving as the deputy clerk-treasurer of Kenosha, from 1960 until her retirement in 1985.
She was a volunteer and member of the Kenosha County Historical Society and Museum, attended St. Mary's Catholic Church for more than 40 years and most recently attended St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
She volunteered for St. Mary's Lutheran Friendly Center, the Senior Action Council and the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program.
In addition to being an avid reader, she enjoyed golf and hiking.
Surviving are two nieces, Sharon Mecozzi and Lisa Repka, and two nephews, Jeff and Bill Repka.
Her brothers, Leo and Albert Repka, preceded her in death.
