Hazel Roux
Hazel Roux, 87, of Rice Lake died March 25 at Lakeview Medical Center here.
Mrs. Roux was born on Feb. 17, 1911 at Lake Mills to Johanna and William Reichert. At an early age she moved with her parents to the Brill area, where she grew up and attended Brill School. On July 30, 1929 she married Leslie Roux at Dobie. The couple farmed in the Town of Rice Lake for most of their lives. After retiring from farming in 1982, she and her husband moved into the City of Rice Lake. Mrs. Roux loved to fish, garden and feed the wild ducks and songbirds.
She is survived by four daughters, Darlene Hildebrandt, Joan Frolik, Carole Avery and Diane Bertschenfeld, all of Rice Lake; a son, Dale of Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Norma Scheurer Dana of Barron.
Sidney Scharmota
Sidney F. Scharmota, 77, of Minocqua died April 10 at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff.
Mr. Scharmota was born Sept. 20, 1920 in Barron to Frederick and Anna (Holmstrom) Scharmota. He grew up and attended school in Barron and served in the Army in Europe during WW II. After the service he returned to Barron, married Eleanor Bergthold in Rice Lake on Oct. 7, 1950 and worked in the tire business. He enjoyed his family, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons, Fred of Altoona, Bob of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Larry of Crystal Lake, Ill.; a daughter, Suzanne Slade of Minocqua; a sister, Esther West of Hemet, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Scharmota was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, in 1983.
Clara Schneider
Clara S. Schneider, 83, of Rice Lake died March 31 at the Rice Lake Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Schneider was born July 19, 1914 to Lydia and Frank Stepanek in the Village of Haugen. She grew up in the Town of Oak Grove, attended Marquette School and married Edwin Schneider on July 3, 1939 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Haugen. She was a homemaker, and the couple farmed in the Town of Oak Grove, where Mrs. Schneider was active in the Dobie parish. In 1959 the couple retired from farming and later moved to Rice Lake. She was a member of the Catholic Council of Women and loved to cook and fish for panfish.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin; a daughter, Joanne Broome of Center City, Minn.; a son, Ron of Rice Lake; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ella Doyle, Emily Wavrunek, and Mae Fitzgerald, all of Rice Lake.
Eileen Seemann
Eileen E. Seemann, 79, of Cameron died March 30 at Lakeland, Fla.
Mrs. Seeman is survived by her husband, William; two sons, James of Cameron and Jerry of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Jeanie Willman of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Judy Lien of Cameron; a brother, George Cline of Bellingham, Wash.; a sister, Vivian Nelson of Fox Lake, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mildred Spooner
Mildred D. Spooner, 92, of Barron died April 3 at Barron Medical Center. Mrs. Spooner was born Oct. 14, 1905 in Cumberland to Henry and Clara (Rice) Hummel.
Mrs. Spooner attended rural schools in the Cumberland area. In 1925 she graduated from the Teachers College in River Falls. On Aug. 19, 1931, she married Clyde Spooner in Barron. Mrs. Spooner taught school in Cumberland and Turtle Lake for 33 years. She was a member of the Audubon Society and the Historical Society and became an honorary member of the Wisconsin Retired Teachers Assn.
She is survived by three sons, Edward of Rice Lake, Maurice of Heartville, Mo., and Cecil of Issaquah, Wash.; a daughter, Ruth Hanson of Renton, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Spooner was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, in 1966; and a granddaughter, Debra.
Bernice Steinhart
Bernice C. Steinhart, 91, of Rice Lake died March 30 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home here. Mrs. Steinhart was born on Jan. 10, 1907 in Rhinelander to John and Christina (Hasselquist) Bernstein. She taught school for 25 years in the Rhinelander area.
She is survived by a son, John of Rice Lake; a daughter, Mary Robinson of Iron River; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Hilding of King; and a sister, Jean Gross of Rhinelander. Mrs. Steinhart was preceded in death by her husband, Michael.
Margarite Strid
Margarite Ann Strid, 74, of Rockford, Ill., died there March 25 in P.A. Peterson Center for Health.
Mrs. Strid was born on Sept. 5, 1923 in Rice Lake to Edward and Ida (Fredrick) Butler. She attended the Meadow Creek School and graduated from the Rice Lake High School. She lived most of her life in the Rockford area and married Raymond Strid there on Oct. 15, 1960. She retired from the Construction Industry Welfare Fund after over 35 years of service. Mrs. Strid was an exceptional cook who enjoyed delighting her family and friends with her food.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; two brothers, Eugene of Madison, and John of Coralville, Iowa; and two sisters, Maxine Dutilly of Rice Lake and Ellen Fredericks of Turtle Lake.
Lloyd Sweeny
Lloyd Louis Sweeny, 20, of Rice Lake and formerly of Spring Valley, died March 22 in Lucas Township, Dunn County, following an automobile accident.
Mr. Sweeny was born on Oct. 8, 1977 at Menomonie and grew up in the Spring Valley and Elmwood areas. He graduated from Elmwood High School in 1996, was a Spec. 4 in the Army Reserve 327th Engineer Company at Ellsworth and had planned to attend UW-Barron County this fall to become a teacher.
He is survived by his mother, Colleen Flanscha of Spring Valley; his father, Lloyd Sweeny of Menomonie; six sisters, Jennifer Sweeny of Eau Claire; Bonnie and Mirranda Sweeny, and Rebecca Flanscha, all of Spring Valley; Brandi Flanscha of Menomonie; and Jessica Flanscha of Manitowoc; and maternal grandparents, Louis and Betty Rineck of Menomonie.
