Mark Henry Bantley
Mark Henry Bantley, 37, formerly of La Crosse, died on Thursday, February 13, 1997 at the St. Paul Ramsey Medical Center, St. Paul, Minn. He was born in La Crosse on November 8, 1959 to Roy W. and Carol (Ringhardt) Bantley Jr. Mark relocated to River Falls, Wis., in 1993 and had worked for the Canadian-Pacific Railroad for the past eight years. Mark was a loving father and enjoyed the outdoors with a passion. His fun-loving, lively spirit will be sorely missed.
Mark is survived by his wife, the former Jill Anderson; two sons, Tyler and Jacob; his parents of La Crosse; his paternal grandparents, Roy and Harriet Bantley Sr. of La Crosse; two brothers, Kirk of La Crosse and Eric (Becky) of Cary, Ill.; three sisters, Lynn Bantley of La Crosse, Christine (Tim) Ward of McFarland, Wis., and Sara Smith of Onalaska; four nephews, Brandon, Zach, Nathan and Jesse; and three nieces, Samantha, Stephanie and Skylar.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 1997 at 10 a.m. from St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Onalaska. Rev. William Bader will officiate. Burial will be held in the French Island Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements.
Sharon I. Chase
GALESVILLE, WIs. - Sharon I. Chase, 52, of Galesville, died Wednesday, February 12, 1997 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse.
She is survived by her husband, Roger of Galesville; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elza (Lucille) Chase of Tomah; two stepsons;one step-grandson; a brother-in-law, Lester (Ida) Chase of Adams; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 15, 1997 at 1 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Rev. Linda Vork will officiate. Burial will be in Bethania Cemetery, town of Whitestown, Vernon County, at a later date. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the time of the services.

ARCADIA, Wis. - Albert E. Kokott, 98, of Arcadia, Wis., died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare/Arcadia Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Killian Funeral Home, Arcadia, where there will be a rosary at 7:30 p.m. and a Holy Name Rosary at 8 p.m. Friends may also call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

MABEL, Minn. - Doris McCallson, 83, of Mabel, Minn., died Friday, Dec. 26, 1997 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Newburg United Methodist Church, rural Mabel. Burial will be in the Newburg Methodist Cemetery. Myrtle O. Swenson
Myrtle O. Swenson, 98, a resident of the Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse, died Thursday, December 25, 1997 at the care center.
She was born December 14, 1899 in Caledonia, Minnesota to Carl and Louise (Larson) Swenson. Myrtle was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in La Crosse.
She is survived by five nieces, Joyce Olson of La Crosse, Florence Lovold of La Crosse, Marian Yellick of Mesa, Arizona, Frances Tompkins of La Crosse, and Arlene Crowley of Racine, Wisconsin; 15 great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and four sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 1998 at the Fossum Funeral Home in Onalaska. Rev. Ted De Wald will officiate. Burial following cremation will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
Florence L. Neumann
Florence L. Neumann, 73, of La Crosse, died in her home on Friday, December 26, 1997.
She was born on March 13, 1924 in Caledonia, Minn. to Peter and Ella (Meyer) Twite. Florence married Edwin Neumann on October 6, 1943 in Caledonia, Minn. He died on March 16, 1989.
Florence is survived by a daughter, Betty (Duane) Meyer of Holmen, Wis.; six sons, Roger (Kathy) of Rochester, Minn., Darrell (Vickie) of Westby, Wis., Glenn (Judy) of DeKalb, Ill., and Kermit (Raven), David (Elaine) and Larry, all of La Crosse; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen St. Mary, Alice (Harold) Heaney and Evelyn Anderson of Caledonia, Minn. In addition to her husband, Edwin, she was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 1997 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Steven Staude will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Paul H. Henkel
MC GREGOR, Iowa/BOSCOBEL, Wis. - Paul H. Henkel, age 77, of McGregor, Iowa, formally of Boscobel, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Thoni-Kendall Funeral Home, Boscobel. Burial will be in the Prairie Cemetery, Fennimore. Eunice H. Dargel
Eunice H. Dargel, 89, went to her eternal rest with the Lord, on December 22, 1997.
She was born March 6, 1908, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin to William and Elsa (Schuette) Vonder Ohe. She married Edmund Dargel on December 3, 1928, who preceded her in death on December 28, 1981. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a clerk/seamstress at Quinlans-The Big Store, in Reedsburg. She was a resident of Hillview H.C. Center since April of 1996.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeneane (Donald) Mahr of La Crosse; son, Robert (Janice) Dargel of East Lyme, Conn.; daughter-in-law Betty Dargel of Machesney Park, Illinois; ten grandsons, Tom (Debbi) Mahr, Timothy (Jill) Mahr, Todd (Debra) Mahr, Trent (Janet) Mahr, Troy (Beth) Mahr, David (Sandra) Dargel, Dennis (Roxanne) Dargel, Donald (Theresa) Dargel, Michael (Kelly) Dargel, and Brian Dargel; seven great-granddaughters and eight grandsons, Kaitlin, Samuel, Jenna, Riley, Rosalia, Taylor, Jake, and Sophia Mahr, David Alexander, Brianna, David Duane, Amber, Ricky, Jonathan and Donald Dargel.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Duane, in 1995; and forty years ago by a brother.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 30, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Reedsburg. The Reverend James T. Cumming of Faith Lutheran Church, in La Crosse, where Eunice had been a member since 1981, will officiate and burial will be in the St. Peters Lutheran Church Cemetery. Following the committal service at the Cemetery, a luncheon will be served at the church. Friends may call at the Dickinson Family Funeral Homes, 1425 Jackson Street, La Crosse, on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and at the church in Reedsburg on Tuesday from noon until the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the organization of the donor's choice.
Steven D. Lee
Steven D. Lee, 42, of La Crosse, died on Saturday, December 27, 1997 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.
He was born on April 28, 1955 in La Crosse to Albert and Jean (Woods) Lee. He married Nancy E. Thill on March 5, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nev. Steve was a 1973 graduate of La Crosse Central High School. He was active in the Holmen Youth Baseball Program and served as a coach. His hobbies included golf, fly fishing, and boating.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by a daughter, Angela C. Lee of Onalaska; two sons, Steven D. and Robert W., both of Onalaska; his mother, Jean M. Lee of La Crosse; a brother, Keith (Cyndie) Lee of La Crosse; a niece, Jennifer Lee of La Crosse; and a nephew, Jason (Cathy) Lee of La Crosse. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert, in 1984 and by a sister, Jeannie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 1997 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. The Rev. John Parcher will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Sister Rose Margaret Haffenbredl
Sister Rose Margaret Haffenbredl, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration, 86, died Saturday, December 27, 1997, at Villa St. Joseph.
Sister Rose Margaret was born to Ferdinand and Catherine (Kundinger) Haffenbredl on September 4, 1911, in Auburndale, Wisconsin. She ministered as a homemaker for over 50 years in parish convents in Iowa, Washington, and Wisconsin, including serving in the main kitchen at St. Rose Convent from 1978-1985. In 1990 she retired to St. Rose Convent and to Villa St. Joseph in 1997.
Sister Rose Margaret is survived by her Franciscan community; a sister, Mrs. Louis (Martha) Ertl of Butler, Wisconsin; four brothers, Ray Haffenbredl of Milladore, Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Haffenbredl, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Haffenbredl, and James Haffenbredl, all of Auburndale, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday, December 29, after 4 p.m. at St. Rose Convent, La Crosse. A prayer service will take place Monday, December 29, 7:15 p.m. in Mary of the Angels Chapel.
Reverend Bernard Kelly, retired, Onalaska, will preside at the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, December 30, 11 a.m. in Mary of the Angels Chapel. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse.
