Ronald Coleman
Ronald Coleman, 69, of Mikana died Feb. 7 at the Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake.
Mr. Coleman was born to Archie and Jenny (Barton) Coleman on Sept. 27, 1928 at Brill. He moved with his parents to Mason and completed his schooling there. He completed a tour in the Navy and trained thoroughbred horses in Chicago. Ill., with his wife, Elizabeth, until he retired in 1991 and moved to Mikana.
He is survived by a son, Douglas of Indiana; a daughter, Kimber Lee Nichols of Hebron, Ill.; two grandchildren; a brother, Virgil of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Merle Zieman of Arizona, and Helen Sykes of Texas.
Shannon Dennis
Shannon J. Dennis, 22, of Barron died Jan. 31 at Barron Medical Center there.
Mr. Dennis was born on Dec. 10, 1975 in Rice Lake to Beverlee (Turgeson) Dennis. He grew up in Barron and graduated from Barron High School in 1994. He was a quarterback on the high school football team, played hockey, and was a catcher on the baseball team. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. Mr. Dennis had attended UM-Duluth and was currently a senior at UW-Stout.
He is survived by his mother, Beverlee Dennis of Barron; a brother, Chad of Stevens Point; a sister, Gina Byers of Burnsville, Minn.; and his grandmother, Luella Turgeson of Barron.
Clara Drinken
Clara M. Drinken, 86, of Rice Lake died Feb. 6 at the Rice Lake Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Drinken was born on Sept. 9, 1911 at Jonesdale to Alfred and Lina (Troesch) Schultheiss. On Nov. 14, 1934 she married Ralph Drinken at Merrill. They farmed in the Town of Stanfold for several years. The couple purchased a farm in the Town of Rice Lake in 1937, where they farmed until 1994. Mrs. Drinken served on the town election board for many years and loved farming, dancing, card playing and gardening.
Mrs. Drinken is survived by a daughter, Rose Kilmer of Rice Lake; a son, Henry of Rice Lake; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Punke of Edgar.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1994.
Ernest Erickson
Ernest H. Erickson, 76, of Rice Lake died Jan. 22 at Lakeview Medical Center.
Mr. Erickson was born March 2, 1921 to Elick and Ovidia (Foss) Erickson at Duluth, Minn. He moved with his parents to Prairie Farm, graduated from Clear Lake High School, and on June 2, 1942 married Erline Anderson at Rice Lake. Mr. Erickson served in the European Theatre during WW II and later returned to Rice Lake. He worked at the Rice Lake Creamery until 1952 and was a dairy farmer in the Town of Stanley until his retirement in 1984. The couple had lived in Rice Lake since 1996, where Mr. Erickson was a member of the American Legion Post.
He is survived by his wife, Erline; three sons, David, Duane, and Bernard, all of Eau Claire; two daughters, Eileen Robarge and Katherine Broker, both of Rice Lake; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Alvin and Robert, both of Wheeler.
Allen Fish
Allen P. Fish, 65, of Rockford, Ill., died Feb. 2 at the VA Hospital in Milwaukee.
Mr. Fish was born on March 28, 1932 in Rice Lake to Paul and Ellen (McGrath) Fish. He married Jayne Cobb in Pine City, Minn., on Feb. 16, 1952 and served in the Army from 1952-1953. He worked as a pipefitter for Centro Metalcut for many years and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Jayne: two sons, Craig of Byron, Ill., and Kevin of Rockford; a daughter, Peggy Blocker of Rockford; eight grandchildren; a brother, Raymond; and three sisters, Margie, Marion, and Cathy.
Mary Fraley
Mary V. Fraley, 87, of Barron died Feb. 3 at the Barron Medical Center's extended care unit there.
Mrs. Fraley was born on Aug. 16, 1910 in Salt Rock, W.Va., to Floyd and Pearl (McComas) Bias. She grew up in the Salt Rock area and married Luther Fraley on Jan. 20, 1934 at Cabell County, W. Va. The couple farmed in West Virginia for several years and moved to the Barron area in 1948, where they operated a dairy farm north of Barron until they retired in 1973. Mrs. Fraley was a member of the Homemakers club amd the ladies circle of the UMC and loved flowers, crocheting and knitting. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by four sons, Robert of Missoula, Mont., John of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Chester of Iola, and Edwin of Northbrook, Ill.; three daughters, Betty Eggebraaten of Rochester, Minn., Nancy Delton of Missoula, Mont.; and Alice Schultenover of Holly, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters; Shirley Bias and Mabel Perry, both of Salt Rock, and Ruth Bias of California.
Mrs. Fraley was preceded in death by her husband, Luther, in 1986.
Donald Frankenberg
Donald A. Frankenberg, 74, of Cameron died Jan. 25 in Rice Lake.
Mr. Frankenberg was born on Dec. 7, 1923 to Arthur and Ruth (Veness) Frankenberg in Exeland, and the family moved to Cameron soon after. He served in the Army during WWII and on Dec. 7, 1946 married Harmony White in Cameron. He worked for the Soo Line Railroad for almost 10 years and then for Fehr Concrete until retirement. He enjoyed hunting, trout fishing and cribbage.
He is survived by his wife, Harmony; a son, Steven of Cameron; a daughter, Sandra Hessler of Cameron; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Frank of Minneapolis, Minn.; and a sister, Carole Ekern of Cameron.
Irene Gannon
Irene Krippner Gannon, 88, of Eau Claire died Jan. 20 at the Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.
Mrs. Gannon was born Oct. 5, 1909 to Charles and Delphine (Chartier) Mercier. She married Paul Krippner on Feb. 13, 1929 in Meadville, Pa. He died Jan. 25, 1974, and she married Walter Gannon on May 21, 1988 in Eau Claire. Mrs. Gannon was employed by National Presto Industries in the 1970s until she retired.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; two daughters, Nancy Kaner of Rice Lake, and Karen Johnson of Eau Claire; three sons, William of Minneapolis, Minn., Paul of Tariffville, Conn., and Ron of Strum; six sisters, Jeannette Wistra of Kenosha, Lucille Krippner of Duluth, Doris Erikson of Bloomington, Minn., Mary Jane Scott of Racine, Marion Van Helden of Polson, Mont., and Donna Meyers of Rice Lake; four brothers, DeWayne of Racine, Wallace and Vernon, both of Kenosha, and Charles of Severna Park, Md.; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and the children of her husband, Walter.
Besides her husband, Paul, Mrs. Gannon was preceded in death by a son, Richard; and two grandsons.
