MABEL, Minn. - Julian Hesby, age 87, of Mabel, Minnesota died Thursday, January 29, 1998, at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 2, 1998, at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel. Burial will be in the Scheie North Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, February 1, from 4-8 p.m. at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
Nellie Caroline Harlos
LA CRESCENT, Minn. - Nellie Caroline Harlos, 89, a resident of the La Crescent Health Care Center, died on Friday, January 30, 1998, at the care center. She was born on June 24, 1908, in Iron River, Wis. to Wenzel and Gloria (Marco) Silha. She married Irvin F. Harlos on October 27, 1926, in La Crescent. Nellie had worked at the La Crosse Garment Factory, the Autolite and the La Crescent Elementary School. Nellie was an avid doll lover and had owned a doll clothing and repair shop in La Crescent and was known as the ``Doll Lady.'' She was a member of Southridge United Methodist Church and La Crescent United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 71 in La Crescent.
Nellie is survived by two daughters, Carol (Robert) Ready of La Crescent and Deborah (John) Dewey of Houston, Minn.; two sons, LeRoy Harlos of Tuscon, Ariz. and Everett (Joann) Harlos of La Crescent; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin in 1975, her parents, four sisters, three brothers, three granddaughters and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 1998, at 2 p.m. at the La Crescent United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mark B. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, South Ridge. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the La Crescent United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Russell John
BLACK RIVER FALLS/DELLS DAM, Wis. - Russell John age 76, of Winnebago, Neb. and formerly of the Dells Dam area of Clark County, died Friday, January 30, 1998, in the Winnebago Hospital, Winnebago, Neb.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 2, 1998, at 1 p.m. from the Willa RedCloud residence and burial will be in the Dells Dam Cemetery, both at Dells Dam.
Friends may call at the Willa RedCloud residence on Monday from 9 a.m. until services. The Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, is serving the family.

TOMAH, Wis. - Dale E. Bakken, age 59, of Tomah died Friday, January 30, 1998, at the Tomah Care Center.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 1998, 10 a.m. at the Light House Assembly of God Church in Tomah. Burial will follow in the Wyeville Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the White Funeral Home in Tomah. Friends may also call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the church. The White Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lucile Mae Duncan
OAKDALE, Wis. - Lucile Mae Duncan, age 86, of Oakdale, died Friday, January 30, 1998, at home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 4, 1998, 11 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church, near Camp Douglas. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the White Funeral Home in Tomah. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the church.

SPARTA, Wis. - John W. Brueggeman, 81, of Sparta, died early Saturday morning, January 31, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Page-Smith Funeral Home, Sparta.
Alberta E. (Kirchner) Hill
GALESVILLE, Wis. - Alberta E. (Kirchner) Hill, 99, died Friday, January 30, 1998, at Marinuka Manor Nursing Home, Galesville.
She was born March 12, 1898, in Fountain City, Wis. to Edward and Augusta Kirchner. She graduated from Milwaukee-Downer College in 1920 and married Leslie A. Hill Dec. 9, 1924. He died Aug. 10, 1964. They lived in St. Louis Park, Minn. until 1945, when they moved to Silver Spring, Md. They retired to Edina, Minn. in 1963. Alberta moved to Eden House Apartments in Galesville in 1986. Alberta authored a book, ``Out With The Fleet,'' and several articles describing her life from age six weeks to 19 years when every summer was spent on quarter boat on the Mississippi River with the Kirchner Construction Co. fleet. These manuscripts are on file with the Minnesota Historical Society.
She was a longtime member and past president of Wm. Peck American Legion Auxiliary in Minneapolis. At the time of her death, she was a member of Edina Morningside Church in Edina, Minn., the Minnesota Historical Society and the Galesville Chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter, Alice Hill of Chicago, Ill.; a son, Leslie (Sue) of Galesville; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Her son, Robert died in 1996.
Funeral services will be Feb. 5, 1998, Thursday, at noon in Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, Minneapolis with Rev. Joseph Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Cemetery. Friends may call at the cemetery chapel from 11:30 a.m. until services Thursday. Smith Mortuary, Galesville assisted the family.

LYNXVILLE, Wis. - Eilene Davidson, 74, of Lynxville, Wis. died Saturday, January 31, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 2, 1998, at the Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, Wis. with burial at Dickson Ridge Cemetery, Lynxville, Wis. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eugene `Buddy' H. Dickman
SPARTA, Wis. - Eugene ``Buddy'' H. Dickman, 63, of 911 St. Anne Street, Sparta, died Saturday, January 31, 1998, in his home.
He is survived by his wife, Mavis of Sparta; his mother, Ann Dickman of Cashton; a brother, Paul (Bernice) Dickman of Cashton; a sister, Dianne (Clayton) Schmitz of Rt. 5, Sparta; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry on April 14, 1995, and a sister, Alyce Wolfe on June of 1978.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 6, 1998, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Mark Walljasper officiating. Entombment will be in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse.
Friends may call at the Lanham-Kann Funeral Home, Sparta on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Clarence A. Waltemath
WYEVILLE, Wis. - Clarence A. Waltemath, 80, of Wyeville died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at Tomah Memorial Hospital. He was born April 21, 1917, to William and Mary (Bushing) Waltemath in Juneau County, Wis. In 1941, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth ``Betty'' Mucha, she preceded him in death in 1943. He was united in marriage August 14, 1950, to Annette ``Ann'' Viscovi Tonsi at Hurley, Wis. They lived in Monticello for 44 years until they moved to Wyeville in 1995. He worked as a mechanic at Karlens Ford Garage in Monticello, Wis. for 30 years. During the 1940's, he worked for Potters Cranberry Marshes in Camp Douglas and helped establish the marshes at Manitowish Waters.
He is survived by a daughter, Gladys (Paul) Johnson of Edgerton, Wis.; a step-son, Reno ``Skip'' (Connie) Tonsi of Mentor, Oh.; 11 grandchildren, Christina (Carlos) Vargas, Annette (Dr. Mahmood) Hai, Daniel (Gilda) Tonsi, Gina Clemente, Mary (Dan) Hannan, Tony Johnson, Tom (Diane) Johnson, Randy Johnson, Laura (Nelson) de Sa e Silva, Michael and Richard Lewis; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Waltemath of Wyeville; three sisters, Martha Jensen, Gertrude Crawford and Goldie (Robert) Hanson, all of Camp Douglas; three sisters-in-law, Mary Finco of Edgerton, Jennie Waltemath of Wyeville, Blanche Waltemath of Necedah, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his first wife he was preceded in death by his second wife Ann, his parents, two brothers, William and Frederick.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 2, 1998, 1 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah. Reverend Maxine D. Gray will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Cutler.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 until 6 p.m. and on Monday from noon until time of the services.
Eunice Elaine Stoltz
TOMAH, Wis. - Eunice Elaine Stoltz, 83, of Tomah died Friday, January 30, 1998, at the Tomah Health Care Center. She was born December 27, 1914, to Otto and Amelia (Erdmann) Stoltz in Tomah. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School for eight years. She was confirmed August 15, 1928, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. In 1932, she graduated from the Tomah Senior High School. She worked for AAL in Appleton, Wis. for three and one-half years. She also worked for the Wisconsin Gas Co. Later she worked for the Air Force School (the present V.A. Hospital) and the Army National Guard at Camp Williams. She was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one brother, Clarence (Vivian) of Athens, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Phila Stoltz of Tomah; ten nieces and nephews, Annette (Alan) Smalley of Knoxville, Tenn., Pamela Lester of Athens, Ga., Harold ``Budd'' Watton of Rockford, Ill., Robert (Carol) Stoltz of New Ulm, Minn., Richard (Shirley) Stotlz of Edina, Minn., Karen (William) Hansing of Camarillo, Calif., Wayne (Joan) Stoltz of Phoenix, Ariz., Loren (Margot) Stoltz of Edina, Minn., Carol Sheppard of Mendota Heights, Minn., Jean (Michael) Suzuki of Marshall, Minn., cousins and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Watton, two brothers, Elden and Otto.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. Rev. Richard A. Waldschmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
