Leonard H. Crawford
TOMAH, Wis. - Leonard H. Crawford, 88, of Tomah, died Saturday, January 31, 1998 at the Tomah Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 4, 1998 at 2 p.m. in the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor Richard Waldschmidt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Warrens Mills Cemetery. The White Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Francis `Frank' Goggin
ROSEMOUNT, Minn. - Francis `Frank' Goggin, 68, died Saturday, January 31, 1998 in United Hospital, St. Paul, Minn.
He is survived by five children; Patrick (Rosie) Goggin, Le Seuer, Minn., Kathleen (Arland) Peterson, Holmen, Wis., Mark (Rosemary) Goggin, Farmington, Minn., Colleen Goggin, Bloomington, Minn., Mary (Tad) Lundberg, Savage, Minn., and six grandchildren.
Services will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998. Visitation from 4 to 9 p.m., today at White Funeral Home, Lakeville, Minn.
James E. Mills
James E. Mills, 81, died on Wednesday, February 12th, 1997, at the Bethany Riverside Nursing Home where he had been a resident since November of 1996.
He was born James Emmett Mills to James E. and Alice (Slenker) Mills on June 22, 1915, in Brookville, Vernon County, Wisconsin. He attended local schools and the University of Wisconsin. On October 8, 1938, he married Esther Gutsch. She preceded him in death on November 8, 1990. They farmed along with his family on the Mills family farm until 1943 when he was inducted into the United States Marine Corps, serving in the South Pacific. Upon returning from his military duty he was employed by Dairyland Power Cooperative, where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in June, 1977. He and his wife lived in La Crescent, Minn., for several years and then moved to La Crosse where they resided at Salzer Square and Bethany on Cass.
James is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 15th, 1997, at 11 a.m. at La Crescent United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mark Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Viroqua Cemetery, Viroqua, Wis.
Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. where a Masonic Service by the Morning Star Lodge #29 will be held at 6:30 p.m., and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Evelyn M. Chandler
ONALASKA, Wis./CALEDONIA, Minn. - Evelyn M. Chandler, 78, of Onalaska, Wis., died Tuesday, February 11, 1997, at the Bethany-Riverside Nursing Facility, La Crosse.
She was born April 5, 1918, in La Crosse to Alfred and Bessie (Smith) Evenson. On August 2, 1952, Evelyn married Walter Chandler and he preceded her in death on February 16, 1976. She then married Jesse Burroughs on January 3, 1981, and he preceded her in death on April 2, 1984.
Evelyn was employed as a Nurse's Aid at Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. After her retirement she remained active serving as a Volunteer for the La Crosse Area RSVP. She also enrolled in a course to become a Minister and received her certificate of completion in 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Winkels of Winona, Minn.; two sons, Wally (Barbara) Chandler of Melrose, Wis., and Coby (Kathryn) Chandler of La Crosse; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lona Plompen of Lakeland, Fla., and Marion (James) Barnes of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; three brothers, Arnold (Bessie) Evenson and Glenn (Betty) Evenson, both of Dade City, Fla., and Irvin (Maisie) Evenson of Zepher Hills, Fla. In addition to her first and second husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and two granddaughters.
Funeral services will be Sunday, February 16, at 2 p.m. from the Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia. Rev. Mark Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 12 noon until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
Marlene F. Erskine
ONALASKA, Wis. - Marlene F. Erskine, 47, of N5645 Quarterback Drive, Onalaska, died Tuesday, February 11, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.
She was born in Kenosha, Wis., on January 6, 1950, to Fredrick and Helen (Andersen) Osinga. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha in 1969. She married Ed Erskine in Kenosha on August 14, 1971. She was employed by the Wisconsin Telephone Company from 1971-1983 and by the Trane Federal Credit Union from 1986-1997.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Ed; two sons, Eric and Patrick, both at home; her maternal grandmother, Helena Andersen of Kenosha, Wis.; her parents; four sisters, Diane (Thomas) Werbie of Racine, Wis., Patricia (Craig) Waswrick of Woodstock, Ga., Kathy (John) Kink of Madison, Wis., and Krista (John) Borger of Oak Creek, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and a maternal grandfather.
Memorial services will be Saturday, February 15, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church. The Reverend Tim Duesenberg will officiate.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Marlene F. Erskine Memorial Fund.

Leeward C. Lee
Leeward C. Lee, age 84, formerly of 2832 South 29th Court, died in the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center on Wednesday, February 12, 1997.
He was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on October 4, 1912, to Peter and Lily (Grimsrud) Lee. He married Phyllis Rank in La Crosse on March 29, 1952, and she preceded him in death on April 23, 1989. Leeward served in the U.S. Navy aboard a minesweeper during WWII. He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in journalism and prior to retirement was a columnist for the La Crosse Tribune.
He is survived by two sisters, Valborg Ferguson of Michigan City, Ind., and Lily Holm of Vancouver, Wash.; and a brother, Arnott (Esther) Lee of Richfield, Minn. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 14th at 1:30 p.m. at the Sletten McKee Hanson Funeral Home. Reverend Walter Larson will officiate and burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Lilian Sarazin
LAKE LINDEN, Mich. - Mrs. Lilian Sarazin, 79, a resident of Lake Linden, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 11, 1997, at the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center following a long illness.
The former Lilian Bonini was born on November 6, 1917, in Franklin Twp., a daughter of the late James and Estelle (Gale) Bonini. She attended the Quincy School and the Hancock High School. She lived in the Houghton-Hancock area, lived at the Dreamland Hotel in Bootjack. She moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin, and lived there until 1976 when she returned to Lake Linden to make her home. Most of her life she was a summer resident of Bootjack.
On November 26, 1937, she married George Sarazin in Lake Linden. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1975. Her parents; a brother, Albert ``Bob'' Bonini; and a sister, Ruth Malgren, also preceded her in death.
Lilian had a lifelong interest in lapidary and silversmithing. She was past president of the Coppertown Auxiliary and had been very active in the Coppertown Museum and the Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club. While living in La Crosse she was one of the founders of the Coulee Rock Club.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Greta) Sarazin of Onalaska, Wis., and Dr. William (Robin) Sarazin of Houghton; one daughter, Gale (Donald) Anderson of Lake Linden; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Bonini of Sebawaing, Mich., Roy (Lenore) Bonini of Bootjack and Charles (Pauletta) Bonini of Bootjack; two sisters, Alberta St. Andre of Lake Linden and Eleanore (Robert) Weber of Manistique, Mich.; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church in Lake Linden with Rev. Eric Olson officiating. Spring burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
Friends may call at the Pearce Funeral Home today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Evelyn L. Franks
BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Evelyn L. Franks, 74, of Black River Falls and formerly of Sparta, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in Black River Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Family Worship Assembly, Black River Falls, and burial will be in the Shamrock Cemetery, rural Black River Falls.
Friends may call at the Buswell Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from noon until services.
Memorials may be given to the Franciscan/Skemp Hospice or the Piano Fund of the Family Worship Assembly.
Lucille M. Perz
WILTON, Wis. - Lucille M. Perz, 53, of RR 2 Wilton, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, at her home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the White Funeral Home in Tomah. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Wilton.
