Belva A. Lemke
TOMAH, Wis. - Belva A. Lemke, 90, of Tomah and formerly of Wausau, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, in Tomah Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 26, 1907, in Avalanche, near Westby, to Abraham and Manda (Hoilien) Kalvestrand. She was baptized and confirmed in the Westby Coon Prairie Church. She was united in marriage to Harry Lemke on Oct. 10, 1940, in Wausau, he preceded her in death on July 9, 1985. Belva was a longtime and faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school for 32 yeras and was a choir member. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary for Rib Mountain Granite Company and was an accountant clerk at the Marathon County Hospital.
She is survived by one sister, Lucille (Elza) Chase of Tomah; three brothers, Orville Kalvestrand of Tomah, Marion (Joyce) Kalvestrand of Mukwonago, Vernon (Pat) Kalvestrand of Redding, Calif.; also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lylas Pittsley and Amy Richey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 26th, 1998, 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 Sixth St., Wausau, Wis. The Reverend Clarence D. Harms will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau, on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service.

Dorothy Marie Gunderson
BLAIR, Wis. - Dorothy Marie Gunderson, 76, of Blair, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at the Tri County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall, Wis.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Fagernes Lutheran Church, rural Blair. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Jack Funeral Home in Blair; and also one hour prior to services Tuesday in the church.
Victor M. Samb
Victor M. Samb, 87, died on Thursday, January 22, 1998, at the Franciscan-Skemp Medical Center.
He was born September 13, 1910, in Black River Falls, to Julius and Mathea ``Minnie'' (Haugen) Samb. He married Lee Schnick on January 1, 1930, and she preceded him in death on May 26, 1961. They had one son, Victor L. Samb of Holmen. Victor married Verna Christianson on October 6, 1973.
He was employed by the J.C. Penny Company of La Crosse and Youngstown, Ohio. Victor owned Sambs Sign Company from 1938 to 1946. In 1946, he started with Fantles Fifth Avenue Fashions, as an advertising and display manager. After twelve years, he was appointed Executive Vice President and manager of Fantles. In 1968, he purchased the Guggenbuehl Store on Caledonia Street. The store later became known as Sambs Finer Fashions. He opened the Queen Shop, on Caledonia Street, in 1973, and the Queen Shop, in Waukon, Iowa, in 1980. He resigned from Fantles, in 1973, to devote full time, along with his wife Verna and grandson, David Samb, to the store on Caledonia Street, until his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of the Elks Club and the Optimist Club of La Crosse. He was a past president of the Caledonia Street Merchants.
In addition to his wife, Verna, he is survived by one son, Victor (Alice) Samb of Holmen; a grandson, David Samb of La Crosse; and a granddaughter, Elaine (Roy) Almberg of Tower City, North Dakota; three great-grandsons, Erik, Benjamin and Daniel Almberg; a brother, Roy (LaVerne) Samb; a brother-in-law, Charles (Lillian) Christianson; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Arnold and Harvey; and his parents.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church. The Reverend Ted Dewald will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dickinson Family Funeral Homes' Gillette Street Chapel on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the services.
Mildred N. Kingsbury
MABEL, Minn. - Mildred N. Kingsbury, age 87, of Mabel, Minnesota, died Friday, January 23, 1998 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
Mildred was born on September 15, 1910 in Newburg Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota to Nels and Gretha (Jacobson) Spance. She attended the Newburg School and then graduated from the Mabel High School in 1928. In 1931 she married Harold Kingsbury at the Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel. The couple lived in Mabel their entire lives except for a few years when they lived in Waseca and then returned to Mabel in 1948. Harold passed away in 1986. Mildred was a member of the Mabel First Lutheran Church and WELCA.
Mildred is survived by a son, Dale (Karolyn) of St. Paul, Minnesota; two daughters, Georgia (Mrs. Howard) Tollefsrud of Omaha, Nebraska, and Joanne (Mrs. Lee) Groth of Las Vegas, Nevada; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Georgia Larson of Mabel. She was preceded in death by four brothers.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel with the Rev. Lloyd Menke officiating. Burial will be in the Mabel Lutheran Cemetery in Mabel. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 27, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
Carrie M. Rohrig
ONTARIO, Wis. - Carrie M. Rohrig, 84, of rural Ontario, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998 at Hillsboro. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Wilton. Burial will be in the South Ridge Lutheran Cemetery, town of Wellington. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mary J. Hendrickson
Mary J. Hendrickson, age 87, of La Crosse, and formerly of Galesville, died Friday, January 23, 1998 at her home.
She was born June 7, 1910 to Ernest and Elizabeth (Burt) Butman in Decorah Prairie. She attended area schools. In September of 1933 she married Howard Hendrickson in Iowa. They farmed in the Decorah Prairie area.
She is survived by a son, Robert Hendrickson of Laurel, Md.; four grandchildren, Jill, Nancy, Mark and David; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 1998, at Hardies Creek Lutheran Church. Rev. John Ashland will officiate. Burial will follow in French Creek Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 26, 1998 at the Smith Mortuary in Galesville, and from noon until services at the church on Tuesday.
George Joseph Frederick
KENDALL, Wis. - George Joseph Frederick, 91, of Oconomowoc and formerly of Kendall, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kendall. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery, Kendall. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church. Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, Kendall, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charmion M. Seekins
CALEDONIA, Minn. - Charmion M. Seekins, 62, of Caledonia, died Friday, January 23, 1998 at the Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
She was born November 24, 1935 in Caledonia. In December of 1955 she married Everett Sinclair and they later divorced. Charmion then married Clyde Seekins on November 11, 1972 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia. Charmion was employed as an Avon Representative serving the Caledonia and surrounding areas. She also had worked at the Countryside Cafe in Mabel, Minn., Mansfield Industries in Spring Grove and Schroeder Jewelers of Caledonia where she served on the ladies' groups and was organist for over 20 years. She also had played organ for First Lutheran Church in Mabel before moving to Caledonia. Charm was also a member of the Caledonia Library Board and the Aidenn Chapter 86 Order of the Eastern Star of Caledonia.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde Seekins of Caledonia; her mother, Eleanor Link of Caledonia; a daughter, Debbie Sinclair of Anchorage, Alaska; three sons, John Sinclair of Anchorage, Alaska, Steve (Lindsi) Sinclair of Aguadulce, Calif., and Robert Sinclair of Rochester, Minn.; a step-daughter, Heather (Brian) Vinson of Caledonia; a step-son, Todd (Nellie) Seekins of Miami, Fla.; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two sisters, Laurel (David) Hutzenbuehler of Holmen, Wis., and Victoria Link of Caledonia; and three brothers, Harold E. (Susan) Link, William Link and Michael Link, all of Caledonia; and nieces and nephews. Charmion was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher.
A Memorial service will be held Monday, January 26, at 7 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Rolf T. Storlie will officiate. A private burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 6 p.m. until the time of service. The Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
Raymond L. Aiken
Raymond L. Aiken, 79, passed away peacefully at the Lakeview Health Care Center on Friday, January 23, 1998.
He was born August 5, 1918, in La Crosse to Percy and Laura (Raymond) Aiken. He married Doris Schams on February 14, 1939 in La Crosse. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Raymond Brothers, in home construction. Mr. and Mrs. Aiken had owned a resort in the Arborvitae area for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; three daughters, Laura Aiken of West Salem, Jean (Merton) Williams of West Allis and Doris (Curtis) Carter of North Fond du Lac; two sons, John (Susan) Aiken of La Crosse and Raymond (Alyce) Aiken of Duluth; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Richmond, Laura Marker, Carla Abraham, all of La Crosse; one brother, Percy (Emma) Aiken of New Brighton, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Peggy and Julie; one son, Russell; two sisters; and one brother.
Memorial services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Olivet Lutheran Church. The Reverend David J. Baldukas will officiate and burial, following cremation, will be in the French Island Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the services.
