Naomi Bartz Fiedler
TULSA, Okla. - Naomi Bartz Fiedler, 86, passed away in Tulsa, Okla., on Monday, Aug. 10, 1998. Mrs. Fiedler was born on May 31, 1912, in Wilton, Wis., the only child of Anna Marie Splett Bartz and Gustav E. Bartz, and grew up there. In 1932 she married Thomas Cameron Fiedler of Seymore, Wis. They lived for 30 years in Madison, Wis., where Mr. Fiedler worked as an engineer for AT&T and Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company.
After retiring, the Fiedlers lived during the summers at their home on Lake Kentuck, near Eagle River, Wis., and wintered in the south, including Tulsa Okla., where Mr. Fiedler passed away after a long illness in 1981. Mrs. Fiedler moved to Nokomis, Fla. and lived there until 1997, when she returned to Tulsa.
She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Judith A. Finn and Frances C. Piper, both of Tulsa, Okla.; and four grandchildren, Kirstin Finn Schwandt, M.S., of Bloomington, Ind., and Arikka Finn, Laurel Piper, and Andrew Piper, all of Tulsa.
Funeral services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Chapel in Madison, Wis., at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15. Memorials may be sent to the Organ Fund at Fellowship Lutheran Church, Tulsa, Okla.
Adeline `Ade' Clement
Adeline ``Ade'' Clement, 65, of French Island, Wis., died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at her home. She was born on Oct. 17, 1932, on the family farm on St. Mary's Ridge in Monroe County, to William and Catherine (Muellenberg) Hericks. She attended grade school on St. Mary's Ridge and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1951. She married Robert Clement on Nov. 2, 1957.
After high school, she worked at S & M Supply and at Wettstein's. In 1965, she and her husband purchased Elfman Marine, which they owned and operated until 1984. During their retirement they enjoyed traveling and many outdoor activities together, and their grandchildren. Ade also started bowling again, and took up the game of golf. Many a day was spent on a golf course with her best friends.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; two daughters and two sons, Ruth (Steve) Dunn of Keller, Texas, Jim Clement of Holmen, Wis., Mary (Randy) Mickelson of Stoddard, Wis., and Tom (Tania) Clement of Sylvania, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Eric Dunn, Andy, Spencer and Jan Clement, and Katy, Hannah and Rachel Mickelson; three sisters, Hilda (Everett) Strozinsky of Tomah, Wis., Dorothy Brieske, Bernice (Herb) Selbrede of Sparta, Wis.; one brother, Walter (Betty) Hericks of Norwalk, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Mary (Richard) Barrett of Melrose, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James the Less Catholic Church. Rev. Roger Scheckel will officiate, with burial to be in the French Island Cemetery. Friends are invited to call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Blaschke Funeral Home, 401 West Ave. So., La Crosse. Friends are also invited to call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

Thomas F. Lindemann
ELROY/HILLSBORO, Wis. - Thomas F. Lindemann, Jr., 55, of Elroy and formerly of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998 at his residence from an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hillsboro. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m.Thursday, at the Picha Funeral Home, Elroy and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, at the church.
J. Allan Wiles
COCHRANE, Wis. - J. Allan Wiles, 91, of Cochrane, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, in his home. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Buffalo City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The J.S. Wozney Funeral Chapel of Cochrane is in charge of the arrangements.
Dorothy Augusta Stromstad
DE SOTO, Wis. - Dorothy Augusta Stromstad, 83, of De Soto, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 11, 1998, at Bethany St. Joseph Health Care Center in La Crosse. She was born at De Soto on July 28, 1915, to Will and Lena (Stager) Kumlin. She attended Sunnyside School and graduated from Central High School in La Crosse in 1934. Dorothy was employed 10 years at Lutheran Hospital and 33 years at WWTC, retiring in 1972. She married Neal Stromstad on July 29, 1960. He preceded her in death in 1977. Dorothy was a lifelong member of De Soto Lutheran Church, and was also a member of the W-ELCA and the Faith Circle.
Survivors include one brother, Merlin (Vada) of De Soto; two sisters, Vera Sallander of LaCrosse and Elaine Slack of rural Viroqua; one sister-in-law, Margarethe Kumlin of Willernie, Minn.; a stepson, Bruce (Yoon) Stromstad and a step-granddaughter, Tammy, of Danville, Calif; a special friend, Dell Wehrs of La Crosse; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother in 1972; a brother, Vernon in 1983; her father in 1992; and a nephew, LaVern Kumlin in 1974.
She touched many lives - Blessed be her memory.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at De Soto Lutheran Church. Pastor Paul Finger will officiate, with burial in the Walnut Mound Cemetery at Retreat. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at the Larson Funeral Home in De Soto. Friends may also call after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the De Soto Lutheran Church Stained Glass Window Fund or the American Cancer Society.
Sidney C. Boldt
LA CRESCENT, Minn. - Sidney C. Boldt, 82, of La Crescent, Minn., died on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Medical Center. He was born in rural Houston, Minn., on Aug. 6, 1916, to Gustave and Lydia (Krage) Boldt. Sidney was a member of the South Ridge United Methodist Church and had a deep love of farming, having farmed his entire life on South Ridge.
He is survived by his nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sylvia Beckman, and two brothers, Herb and Harvey.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. from the South Ridge United Methodist Church. The Rev. Paul Kobi will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., and again at the church on Saturday from noon until the time of services.
Theodore K. Olson
WARRENS, Wis. - Theodore K. Olson, 86, of Warrens, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, in Rolling Hills Nursing Home, Sparta. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Ninneman-Steele Funeral Home, Tomah. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
William C. Rattle
SPARTA/WARRENS, Wis. - William C. Rattle, 83, of Sparta and formerly of Warrens, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in Rolling Hills Nursing Home, Sparta. A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tomah. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7:30 p.m. parish rosary, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah; and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church.
Huldah M. Bailey
SOLDIERS GROVE, Wis. - Huldah M. Bailey, 89, entered eternal rest at Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home, Soldiers Grove on Wednesday Aug. 12, 1998, following a brief illness. She was born May 6, 1909, in Barnum, Wis. the daughter of Daniel and Laura (Shaw) Clark. On April 23, 1927, she was united in marriage with Carroll Bailey in Beloit. Together they farmed in Crawford and Richland Counties. Huldah enjoyed quilting and embroidery. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Missionary. She lived at Ridgeview Commons in Richland Center for 10 years.
Survivors include one son, Gordon (Myrna) Bailey, Richland Center; two daughter-in-laws, Norma Bailey, Soldiers Grove, and Blanche Bailey, Beloit; two sister-in-laws, Ethel Faith, Beloit, and Mabel Bailey, Janesville; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carroll in 1985, three sons, Darrold in 1980, Duane in 1983, and Clarence in 1992; daughter-in-law Frieda Bailey in 1991; and eight brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 1998, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel, Richland Center. Pastors Hubert Groves amd Clyde Ham will co officiate. Burial will be in the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Friday evening, Aug. 14, 1998, from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove. Pratt Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.
Wilhelm H.`Bill" Oelke
LA CROSSE - Wilhelm H. "Bill" Oelke, 69, of La Crosse died Tuesday Aug. 11, 1998, from a traffic accident. He was born in La Crosse on June 11, 1929 to Frank and Alivina (Helke) Oelke. He married Bernice Stellick on May 5, 1951, at Stoddard. Bill was a farmer, carpenter, and musician. He ran the Party Barn on the farm for 20 years.
He played with Syl Liebl and Jolly Swiss Boys for 35 years and with Brian and Miss Valley Dutchman for seven years with whom he performed at The Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. in 1991, the Gemiitlich's, his own band, and many others through the past years. He played and sang at many of the area nursing homes. He was most remembered for his love of singing German songs. He sang with the Octoberfest Singers for many years.
He was a life long member of Concordia Aid, active president of Shelby Aid and a member of Moose Lodge of La Crosse. Bill was an active blood donor and delivered meals on wheels. He and Bernice read meters for Vernon Electric and worked as a volunteer for Carroll Heights. He enjoyed working around the church fixing things, mowing, and other jobs to be done. In his later years he enjoyed cutting iron.
He is survived by his wife Bernice; one daughter Nancy (Tom) Langen of La Crescent; three sons John (Jeanie) of La Crescent, Darrell (Karie) and Robert (Shari) both of Coon Valley; five grandchildren Jeffrey and Christopher Langen, Jolene and Justin Oelke, and Andrea Oelke. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Vernelgene Dowiasch.
Funeral services will be held Friday Aug. 14, 1998, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, south La Crosse on hwy. 14. The Rev. Wayne T. Lura, Sr. will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested. Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. The Woodruff Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
