Victoria Raboin
Victoria V. Raboin, 80, of St. Paul, and formerly of Rice Lake, died Jan. 30 at Sholom Homes there.
Mrs. Raboin was born on Sept. 12, 1917 in Bethel, Minn.
She is survived by six daughters, Shirley Campeau of Shafer,Minn., JoAnn Schwagel of Minneapolis, Beverley Holmstrom of Cumberland, Bonnie Norton of Marathon, Fla., Judy Storrs of Sarona, Doris Workman of Rice Lake; a son, Victor Williams of Center City; 30 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Margie Hayhurst, Jeannette Ratzlow, Ellen Enger, Jane Ann Moline, Yvonnie Kramer, Lavonne Hagen, Darlene Moline; and three brothers, William Nelson, Leroy Nelson, and Lyle Tharp.
Clarence Rothbauer
Clarence "Teener" B. Rothbauer, 52, of Chetek died Jan. 26 at Barron Medial Center.
Mr. Rothbauer was born Oct. 31, 1945 in Bloomer to Edward and Lucy (Mikl) Rothbauer. He married Marcia Johnson on Sept. 30, 1972 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer. He moved to Chetek in 1981, where he delivered newspapers. He also worked for Wonder Wash in Barron and Rice Lake and for Auto Wash in Chetek. Mr. Rothbauer had a love for plants.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; two brothers, Leonard of Greenfield, and Lawrence of Cadott; and three sisters, Geraldine, Annabelle and Delores Rothbauer, all of Bloomer.
Richard Rugg
Richard R. Rugg, 83, of Barron died Feb. 6 at Barron Medical Center there.
Mr. Rugg was born on May 11, 1914 in Lakewood to Arthur and Laurella (Frye) Rugg. He grew up there and was a logger for the Connor Lumber Land Co. at Laona from 1945-1955. He moved to Havana, Ill., in 1955 and worked at Caterpillar until retiring in 1972. He moved to Rock City, Ill., in 1974 and lived there until 1979, when he moved to Barron. On May 8, 1981, he married Linda Hall at Barron. Mr. Rugg enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; four sons, Gerald of Goshen, Ala., Owen of Springfield, Ill., Richard of Rockford, and Duane of Milwaukee; two daughters, Sharon Hardy of Havana and Bonnie of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leslie of Lakewood; and three sisters, Violetta Radley of Gridley, Calif., Florence Wilson of Neenah, and Marilyn Jacobs of Menasha.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Frank Rust
Frank Ferdinand Rust, 89, of Barron and formerly of Almena, died Jan. 27 at Barron Medical Center's extended care unit.
Mr. Rust was born on July 11, 1908 in Town of Arland to Gotfred and Theresa (Minnecker) Rust. He married Marie Schanno in Almena on Nov. 6, 1934 and farmed near Poskin. He retired after 43 years and the couple moved to Barron in 1978.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; a daughter, Joan Huset of Poskin; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Frank Shimek
Frank J. Shimek, 88, of Sarona died Jan. 25 at the Lakeview Medical Center here.
Mr. Shimek was born Oct. 4, 1909 in Omaha, Neb., to Frank and Antonia (Kodesh) Shimek. He spent his youth in Haugen and then moved to Sarona, where he married Mary Wenzel on May 25, 1937. Mr. Shimek was a road supervisor and farmed in the Town of Sarona and was employed by West Lawn Farms until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, John of Rochester, Minn., and Raymond of Sarona; a brother, Joseph of Lyle, Ill.; and two sisters, Helen Uchytil of Haugen and Mary Uchytil of Rice Lake.
Mr. Shimek was preceded in death by a son, Robert.
Nellie Soholt
Nellie B. Soholt, 97, of Rice Lake died Jan. 27 at the Rice Lake Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Soholt was born on July 2, 1900 in Brill to Herbert and Ida (St. Claire) Coleman. She married Chester Soholt on Sept. 23, 1923 in Duluth. The couple lived in the Long Lake area until they moved to Rice Lake in 1960.
She is survived by a sister, Ella Coleman of Dallas; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, in 1967.
Bruce Sorensen
Bruce D. Sorensen, 69, of Spooner died Feb. 3 at his home.
Mr. Sorensen was born April 28, 1928 at Milltown to Augie and Ruby (Olson) Sorensen. His family moved to Spooner when he was 11, and he graduated from Spooner High School in 1946. On Jan. 4, 1945 he married Carole J. Skinner at Pine City, Minn. He attended pharmacy school at the University of Minnesota and received his degree from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 1953. Mr. Sorensen returned to Spooner and went into partnership with his father at the Red Cross Pharmacy. He also worked for 4 years at the Spooner Hospital pharmacy and at the Indianhead Medical Center pharmacy in Shell Lake.
Mr. Sorensen was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Royal Arch Mason, and the Commandry 40 KT, all of Spooner; the Zurah Shrine of Madison; the Hayward Musky Shrine Club; Rice Lake Elks Lodge; the Wisconsin Pharmaceutical Assn.; the Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce; and the Shell Lake Chamber of Commerce. He had served on the board of directors of the Shell Lake State Bank and the Railroad Memories Museum of Spooner and had been a member of the Spooner Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; three sons, Steve and Kris, both of Spooner, and Monte of Schofield; a daughter, Kim Sorensen of Santa Anna, Calif.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother, Ruby, of Spooner, and a brother, Jerry of Edmonds, Wash.
Frank Sprenger
Frank J. Sprenger, 59, of the Town of Madge died Jan. 29.
Mr. Sprenger was born May 11, 1938 at Stanberry to Joseph and Alice (McPeak) Sprenger. He graduated from Hayward High School in 1956, received a bachelor's degree from UW-River Falls, and taught at Holcombe. On Oct. 22, 1960 he married Katie Farley at Hayward. Mr. Sprenger taught science at the Rice Lake Middle School for 31 years and retired in 1994. The couple had resided in the Town of Madge for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Katie; three sons, Joseph, and Glen, both of Sarona, and Jessica "J.C." of Oshkosh; four grandchildren; and a brother, Omar of Stanberry.
