WAUZEKA, Wis. - Edward E. Bouzek, 90, of Wauzeka, Wis., died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church and burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Friends may call today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, where there will be a wake scripture at 8 p.m.

Thomas Selck Sullivan
ARCADIA, Wis. - Thomas Selck Sullivan, 85, of Eau Claire, Wis., was born into heaven on Wednesday, July 29, 1998. He was born Sept. 13, 1912. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Killian Funeral Home in Arcadia, Wis. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Killian Funeral Home. The family requests memorials to the Dialysis Unit at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire.

Lucille C. Knutson
Lucille C. Knutson, 84, a resident of the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Nursing Home in La Crosse, died at the nursing home on Thursday, July 30, 1998.
She was born in La Crescent, Minn., on Feb. 19, 1914, to John and Delia (Post) Oldenburg. She married Laurence A. Knutson on Aug. 18, 1933, in La Crosse. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1989.
Lucille graduated from Aquinas High School in 1932. She had worked at Gamble's Department Store in La Crosse from 1948 until her retirement in 1975.
Lucille is survived by her five children and their families; Shirlee (William G.) Schams and their children, Steve (Chris) Schams, Charles Schams, Sherry (Tim) Wuebben, William L. (Heidi) Schams, Lori Marx (Rodney) and Larry Schams, all of La Crosse; Jo Anne (Jerry) Jewett of Nesbit, Miss., and their children, Julie (Bill) Brown of Houston, Tex. and Jeff Jewett and Jene (Jack) Rogers, both of Nesbit, Miss.; La Verne (Al) Thelen of Eagan, Minn. and their son, Mike Thelen of Eagan; Dorene (Glen) Boland of Meridian, Idaho, and their children, Mick (Sharon) Boland of Boise, Idaho, Caren (Jerry) Massari of Seattle, Wash., and Dan Boland of Boise; and Eugene L. (Rose) Knutson of Davenport, Iowa, and their children, Jamie Forsee and her fiancee Tom Doman of Charlotte, N.C., Christina (Vincent) Jewell of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Dan (Maggie) McMahon and Andrew (Melissa) McMahon, both of Rock Island, Ill.; 23 great-grandchildren; seven sisters and brothers, Kathryn Mach, Odelia Trocinski, and Art (Jean) Oldenburg, all of La Crescent, Jean (Bud) Wetchen of Willow River, Minn., Virginia (Bill) Huerkamp of Houston, Minn., Zita (James) Huerkamp of Dresbach, Minn., and James (Rose) Oldenburg of La Crosse; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Bernice Sjoblum of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a brother-in-law, Joe Hodge of La Crescent. In addition to her husband, Lucille was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Abnet, Rose Lathrop and Elaine Hodge; and one brother, Earl Oldenburg.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m., from St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph J. Rafacz will officiate. Burial will be in Crucifixion Cemetery in La Crescent. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Friday, from 6-8 p.m., where a rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m., and at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be given to the Aquinas Schools Foundation.
She wasn't just our Mother, she was our dearest friend, To share her words of caring, on that we could depend. A smile. A hug. A tender kiss. Devotion without end. Good Mother, we will miss you, you were our dearest friend. She went to God in Heaven, her spirit did ascend, Right up there with the angels, our dad, her folks, old friends. She left behind her legacy of loving to the end. Good Mother, we will miss you, you were our dearest friend. Rest in Peace.

Harold Delmar Coleman
LA FARGE, Wis. - Harold Delmar Coleman, 80, of La Farge, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at his home after a long illness.
He was born May 2, 1918, to John and Esther (Tuhus) Coleman in a log house on Weister Creek, Vernon County. He attended Weister Creek grade school and graduated from La Farge High School in 1936. He was married to Lorraine Jensen on June 7, 1941. She preceded him in death on May 21, 1989. He was a member of the La Farge United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Jones-Lawrence V.F.W. Post 9075, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
After graduating from high school, he was employed by the National Forests as a member of the U.S. Civilian Conservation Corps from 1936 to 1939. He entered the U.S. Air Force in July 1943. His Theater of Operations was Asiatic-Pacific. He went to Greenland after the war to help build air bases at Thule and in South Greenland in 1951, 1953 and 1954. He was employed by the Arthur Overgaard Company of La Crosse for seven years.
In 1962, Harold and Lorraine purchased a farm and started his life-long passion of breeding and raising horses for 17 years. He eventually raised only registered Morgan horses and was known nationally by horse lovers under his registered American Morgan Horse trademark, "Kickapoo." One of his horses, "Kickapoo Dandy" was in President Jimmy Carter's inauguration parade. Another of his horses, "Kickapoo Cracker Jack" became a Grand National Western Champion at the National Show in Oklahoma City, Okl. He retired from raising his beloved Morgans in 1979. His last horse was purchased by actress Jessica Lange.
He is survived by a loving companion, Margie Dennison of Genoa, Wis.; two daughters, Julie Hanna of Phoenix, Ariz., and Candice (Joseph) Bucheger of Onalaska; two sons, Thomas (Krista) Coleman of Viroqua and John Coleman of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Dawn (Richard) Roe, Debra Hanna, Tara and Daryn Bucheger, Kyle, Chad and Quin Coleman; two great-grandsons, Austin and Tanner Roe; three sisters, Ruth Muller and Doris (Duane) Muller, both of La Farge, and Pat Kennedy of La Crosse; a sister-in-law, Carmen Coleman of Troy, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ralph Coleman; and two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Muller and Ronald Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the La Farge United Methodist Church. Pastor Julio Alvarado will officiate. Burial will be in the Star Cemetery, with military rites by the Jones-Lawrence V.F.W. Post No. 9075.
Friends may call at the Seland Funeral Home, La Farge, from 6 until 9 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. followed by a prayer service. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.
Those who die never truly leave us, but live on in the memory of those who loved them.
Blessed be the memory of Harold D. Coleman.

Marcella L. Dammon Hurley
Marcella L. Dammon Hurley, 90, of 825 South 19th St., died on Thursday, July 30, 1998, at the Hillview Health Care Center.
She was born in Lansing, Iowa, on Jan. 27, 1908, to Frank and Johanna (Haas) Troendle. She married Lawrence J. Dammon on Sept. 25, 1925, in La Crosse. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1962. She then married Joseph D. Hurley on Jan. 10, 1970, in La Crosse. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1993. Marcella worked at the Hillview Nursing Home and the La Crosse Hospital for 20 years before retiring in 1969.
She is survived by four daughters, Gladys M. Neff of Mesquite, Tex., Leonette K. Hether of Onalaska, Jean A. Privett and Patricia D. Haas, both of La Crosse; ten grandchildren, Victoria J. Thompson, Dianna D. (Jack) Kerr and Carolyn K. (Harold) Flanery, all living in Texas, Mary K. (John) Thomas and Lawrence J. Hether, both of Onalaska and Denise A. (Kurt) Bendel, Thomas M. Haas, Valerie M. (Paul) Martell, Jacqueline K. Haas and Alessia J. Haas, all of La Crosse; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, Marcella was preceded in death by one son, Richard L. Dammon; two sisters; and three brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Aug. 3, at 1 p.m. from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Bernard J. McGarty will officiate. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Sunday from 4-6 p.m., where a rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m., and again on Monday from noon until departing for church.

Maxine M. Peterson
STODDARD, Wis. - Maxine M. Peterson of Stoddard, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. She was born in Viroqua to Thomas and Addie (Huntington) Tollackson. She graduated from Viroqua High School and spent most of her earlier years in Newton Valley, farming with her father and uncle Theodore. She married Clinton Peterson in 1963. The couple lived their married life in the Chaseburg and Stoddard area. Maxine greatly enjoyed sewing and cooking for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed wildlife and pets, especially her cats and birds and collecting Elvis memorabilia.
Survivors include her husband, Clinton; five grandchildren, Theodore (Debra) and Tabatha Kruezer of La Crosse, Terry (Jackie), Tommy and Teejay Kruezer and one great-granddaughter, Kassidy, all of Chaseburg; two brothers, Austin (Bernice) Tollackson of Westby and Bryce (Beatrice) Tollackson of Viroqua; one daughter-in-law, Linda Kreuzer and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Thomas Kruezer; and her favorite uncle Theodore Tollackson.
Private family services will be held at the Seland Funeral Chapel in Coon Valley on Monday, Aug. 3, 1998. It was her request that no memorials be given.
Maxine is now peacefully at rest with her son. She will be missed greatly. Blessed by her memory.

Evelyn L. Handrich
Evelyn L. Handrich, 89, of La Crosse, formerly of Milwaukee, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at Hillview Health Care Center, La Crosse.
She was born June 30, 1909, in Houghton, Mich., to August and Bertha (Otto) Ballmann. Evelyn was a 1927 graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School. On Nov. 29, 1934, she married Carl M. Handrich in Milwaukee and he preceded her in death in 1968. Evelyn was a charter member of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara (Jim) Hemker of La Crosse; a son, Warren (Cathie) Handrich of Mayville, Wis.; seven grandchildren, David (Pamela) Hemker of Fremont, Calif., Susan (James) Schwiebert of Eau Claire, Wis., Dawn (Mark) Challoner of Wauwatosa, Wis., Beth (Gary) Hach of La Grange, Ill., Steven Handrich of Milwaukee, Wis., Jennifer (fiance Chad Uebersetzig) Handrich of West Bend, Wis. and Daniel Handrich of Milwaukee, Wis.; five great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Olga Handrich and six nieces. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, LeRoy and Harvey.
Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. in the West Chapel of the Family Center at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, Wis. Rev. Phillip Otten will officiate. Burial will follow in Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the West Chapel on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Jostad-Jandt Funeral Home, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem, (608-786-1990) is in charge of arrangements.

Marie O. Fischer
ONALASKA, Wis. - Marie O. Fischer, 85, of Onalaska, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at the St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center in La Crosse. She was born May 2, 1913, in New Amsterdam, Wis., to Henry and O'Tillia (Stoen) Spangler and graduated from Galesville High School in June of 1931. On June 30, 1933, she married Earl C. Fischer in Waukon, Iowa. Marie worked as a tailor for many years in both Sparta, Wis. and Harmony, Minn.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five sons, Richard (Judy) Fischer of Green Bay, Wis., Carl (Wanita) Fischer of Harmony, Minn., Gordon (Rosemary) Fischer of Chicago, Ill., Terry Fischer of Onalaska, Wis., and Irwin (Sandy) Fischer of Holmen, Wis.; four daughters, Ruth (Willis) Hand of Mullberry, Fla.; Sharon (Edward) Davis of Lansing, Mich., Sally (Joel) Riley of Logan, Utah and Judy (Tom) Woods of Trempealeau, Wis.; two sisters, Berniece Bonsack of La Crosse and Jeanne Rastall of Stoddard, Wis. and numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by a son, Ronald along with two sisters and one brother.
A private family memorial service will be held at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of Onalaska with burial in the Trempealeau Cemetery, Trempealeau, Wis.

Arleen H. Roiland
Arleen H. Roiland, 74, of La Crosse, died July 30, 1998, in Franciscan-Skemp Health Care after a long illness. She was born in Caledonia, Minn., on Jan. 16, 1924, to Edward and Lilly (Schroeder) Welscher. She married Alvin Roiland Feb. 5, 1951, in Caledonia, Minn. Arleen attended rural Caledonia schools and was an active 4-H member. Arleen and her husband spent all of there married life together in La Crosse. She is survived by her husband, Alvin; one son, Arnold Roiland of Nashville, Tenn.; one brother, Harley (Margie) Welscher and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 130 Losey Blvd., La Crosse. Rev. Bernard McGarty will officiate with burial to be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends and family may call at the Blaschke Funeral Home, 401 West Ave. So., La Crosse, Wis., from 6-8 p.m. on Monday with a rosary to be recited at 8 p.m. Friends and family may also call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Monday until departure for the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
