ERIN, Tenn. - Earl A. Hackett, 71, of Erin, Tenn., died Sept. 2, 1997, at Nashville Veteran Hospital. He was born April 1, 1926.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; one son, Fred Hackett, 45, of Galesville, Wis., two daughters, Joan Berg, 36, of Blair and Diane Keller, 34, of La Crosse; stepson, Steven Lee; stepdaughter, Sharon Lee of Tennessee; and grandson, Tommy of Erin, Tenn.

The funeral will be Thursday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m.
Raymond Jerome Arzt
HILLSBORO, Wis. - Raymond Jerome Arzt, age 84, died on Wednesday, September 3, 1997, at St. Joseph's Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Hillsboro. Interment with military rites will be at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Fick-Hoof Funeral Home, Hillsboro, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.
Grace K. Jorgenson
GALESVILLE, Wis. - Grace K. Jorgenson, age 80 years of Eden House, Galesville, and formerly of Ettrick, died Monday, September 1, 1997, at the Marinuka Nursing Home in Galesville.
She was born January 26, 1917, in Ettrick Township, to Gilbert and Clara (Knutson) Kittleson. She was baptized on March 11, 1917, and confirmed her faith on May 3, 1931, at North Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Ettrick. She graduated from Galesville High School, where she received the D.A.R. Award for excellence in history. She married Ingvald S. Jorgenson on June 29, 1935, and together they farmed in the Upper French Creek Valley area for ten years. In 1946, they built a home in Ettrick. Grace was a former member of the French Creek Lutheran Church, rural Ettrick, and presently a member of the Living Hope Lutheran Church in Ettrick, and its WELCA. She taught Sunday school for 21 years, and summer Parochial School for several years, was Dean of Women at Bible Camps at Chetek and Stevens Point, and had served as President of the Ladies Aid in her churches. For three years, she was Secretary of La Crosse Circuit Women's Missionary Federation, and was the first woman to serve on the Council at Living Hope Lutheran Church as its Secretary. She had been Clerk of the Upper French Creek School District, served as Secretary and Treasurer of Gale-Ettrick P.T.A., and worked with the Ettrick Girl Scouts. Grace did volunteer work for the Red Cross and American Cancer Society, and just prior to her death, was happily working as an Escort Volunteer at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She had been employed as a telephone operator, and as a clerk at the Checker Grocery in Ettrick for many years, and served as a substitute newspaper correspondent for four newspapers, and while her husband worked as a carpenter in Southern Wisconsin, she worked at the School for the Deaf in Delavan, Wisconsin. She was the Trempealeau County Register of Deeds for ten years, and a member of the Trempealeau County Democratic Party, and the Open Heart Surgery Association. Grace enjoyed working with people and serving her Lord. She found special joy in sharing time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Kay Ofsdahl and her husband, Arthur of Ettrick; six grandchildren, Shawn (Kenneth) Mathys of Green Bay, Andrew (Shelley) Ofsdahl of Ettrick, Kris (Michael) Bougie of Appleton, Kim (Gordon) Jacobs of Green Bay, Mary Kay (David) Hanson of Pardeeville, Wis., David Ofsdahl of Murphreesboro, Tenn.; 12 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kristen and Kara Mathys, Jeffery, Kyle, Karley and Hannah Ofsdahl, Peter and Valerie Bougie, Amy and Michael Jacobs, Jason Hanson; one brother, Ralph (Lilah) Kittleson of Ettrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ingvald in 1996; one brother, Victor; and one sister, Lucille.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 1997, at the French Creek Lutheran Church, rural Ettrick. Pastors Lyle Ness and Kathryn Ingbritsen will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Fossum Funeral Home in Ettrick from 4 till 8 p.m. on Friday and at the church on Saturday from 12:30 till time of services.
Don't think of her as gone away -

Anne P. Bates
LA CROSSE, Wis. - Anne P. Bates, 90, of La Crosse, died on September 3, 1997, at Hillview Health Care Center of heart failure.
She was born May 6, 1907, at Hixton and on November 24, 1926 she married Merlyn W. Bates. They moved to La Crosse and she has been a resident for the past sixty-eight years.
She was employed at Herberger's and Doerflinger's. After her retirement she enjoyed local auctions and taught herself to refinish antiques.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria; and her husband, Charles ``Chuck'' Harder, of Anchorage, Alaska; by a son, Roger; and daughter-in-law, Veneranda Bates, of Pleasington, Calif.; six grandchildren, Bonnie Glass and Sharon Appich, of Richmond, Va., Glenn Harder, Nashua, N.H., Briant Bates, Los Angeles, Calif., Kim Schneider, Modesto, Calif., Royce Bates, Livermore, Calif.; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlyn, on November 19, 1989, by three sisters and three brothers.
Her family said, ``She was a loving mother, beloved grandmother and a great friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She loved her Lord and her Bible. She found comfort, strength and peace from Him.''
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Reverend Duane Kamrath will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the services.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association, St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donors choice.

Esther E. Wrobel
CHASEBURG, Wis. - Esther E. Wrobel, 78, of Route 1, Chaseburg passed away Thursday, September 4, 1997 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born April 21, 1919 in the town of Bergen, Vernon County, to John and Laura (Berg) Beitlich. She married Lester Wrobel on June 4, 1942 at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoddard, Wis. The couple farmed their married life near Chaseburg. She was a longtime active member of St. Peter's Hamburg Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Esther was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and caring for others.
Surviving are her husband, Lester; three sons, Allan (Jane) Wrobel of Appleton, Wis., James (Leann) Wrobel of Onalaska, Wis. and Ronald Wrobel of Coon Valley, Wis.; one daughter, Betty (Charles) Dye of Plymouth, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Derek, Timothy and Katie, Julie and Amy, Jennifer and Kevin; one brother-in-law, Stanley Wrobel of La Crosse; and three sisters-in-law, Helen and Vivian Beitlich of Stoddard and Ruth Beitlich of Onalaska.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry, Elmer, Wilburt, and Clarence Beitlich and sister, Lucille Wrobel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 1997 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Lyle Schalow will officiate with burial in St. Peter's Hamburg Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services.
The family requests memorials be given to Lutheran High School. The Seland Funeral Home, Coon Valley is assisting the family.

Raymond Jacobs
TOMAH, Wis. - Raymond Jacobs, 77, of Tomah died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997 at the V.A. Medical Center. He was born March 21, 1920 to Edward and Ellen (Rupp) Jacobs at Columbia, Penn. He was united in marriage to Klara Leidinger on May 17, 1947 at Hersfeld, Germany.
In addition to his wife Klara, he is survived by seven children: Christine (David) Schreier, John (Joanne), Raymond (Marybeth), Monica, Jane (DeWayne) Mashin, Edward (Renee) and Mary; 19 grandchildren, Debbie (Todd), Robert, Shelly (Dale), Kim, Christopher (Leslie), Cathy (Delvin), Karen (Randy), Lori and Todd, Jimmie Ann (David), Bridget (Todd), Katherine, Karen, Ron (Lois), Randy, Richell, Rhea, Christopher, Nicholas, and 17 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held Monday, September 8, 1997, 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 303 W. Monroe St., Tomah. Father Daniel E. Kozlowski will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by Grassman-Sowle-Larsen-Senz American Legion Post #201 of Tomah.

Robert "Robb" Ritter
LA CROSSE, Wis. - Robert "Robb" Ritter, 45, of La Crosse, died on Wednesday, September 3rd, 1997 in his home. Robb was born on January 10, 1952, in La Crosse to Ferdinand and Marjorie (Witt) Ritter. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1970. He married Nancy Nordstrom in Burr Oak, Wis. on June 12, 1976. They later divorced. Robb had worked at the Trane Company and then worked as a disc jockey known as the "Musicman" in La Crosse for many years. He then started a business called "Rainbows and Unicorns" to help local children in need.
Robb is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie and Alyssa both at home; his ex-wife Nancy of Onalaska; his father and step-mother Ferdinand and Audrey Ritter of La Crosse; three brothers, Rick (Kathy) of McFarland, Wis., Dave (Debby) of Onalaska and Dan (Cheryl) of Des Moines, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and an infant son Brian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 6th, 1997 at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The Rev. Lawrence B. Berger will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Wis. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., and again on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. A prayer service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a fund established for Robb's daughters.

Theodore B. Trapp
LA CROSSE, Wis. - Theodore B. Trapp, 79, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, died on September, 3, 1997. He was born on May 27, 1918, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Theodore and Florence (Berger) Trapp. He married June A. Foster in Milwaukee on September 5, 1941.
Ted was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and served his country during World War II in England with the 889th Signal Co. attached to the 8th Army Air Corps. Reflecting his family's past in Milwaukee, he was a member of the Dairymen's Country Club, Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. As a Freemason and Shriner, he was a member of Frontier Lodge #45, the La Crosse and Eau Claire Valleys of the Scottish Rite and was past President and Treasurer of the Zor Shrine Temple Oriental Band. Ted was a Store Manager for the Sherwin-Williams Paint Company for 34 years in Madison, Manitowoc and, finally, La Crosse where, drawn by the natural beauty of the area, he settled with his family in 1953 and joined the Asbury United Methodist Church. He and June made many warm and lasting friendships while members of the church. He enjoyed music and, in addition to the Zor Oriental Band, he participated in the church choir and formerly was a member of the La Crosse Coulee Chordsmen and a violinist with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of the La Crosse Kiwanis Club.
Ted's wife, June, preceded in him in death on April 30, 1996. He is survived by three sons; David (Elizabeth) Trapp of Onalaska, Allen (Lynn) Trapp of La Crosse and Timothy (Doreen) Trapp of Madison and by four grandchildren; Jonathan and Thomas of Onalaska, Marcus of La Crosse, and Tonya (Stephen) Custis of Bloomington, Minn.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 5th at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson Street. Visitation will be followed by a public Masonic Service at 7 p.m.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 1997 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1818 Redfield Street. Cremation and private burial at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park will precede the memorial service.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be directed to Asbury United Methodist Church, Gundersen/Lutheran Hospice, the La Crosse Alzheimer's Association or the Shrine Children's Hospitals.
