Kendall A. Paulsen
CASHTON, Wis. - Kendall A. Paulsen, age 66, of Cashton, died on Monday, Feb. 16, 1998 at the Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.
Kendall was born May 23, 1931 to Kendall and Alice (Johnson-Paulsen) Mitby on the home farm in the town of Christiana in Vernon County. He was married on Nov. 18, 1953 to Darlene Geier.
Kendall was a member of the Western Wisconsin Saddle Club for many years, a board member of the Hiawatha Valley Dairies and the American Legion Post in Cashton.
Kendall is survived by his wife, Darlene; five children, Sharon Paulsen and friend Bob Naatz of Edgerton, Wis., Allyn Paulsen and friend Sherry Finch of Camp Douglas, Helen (Darrell) Miller of DeForest, Wis., Bonnie (Roger) Hehn of Sparta, Wis., and Chris (Jennifer) Paulsen of Cashton, Wis.; four grandchildren, Chad adn Amanda Paulsen, Darrell Miller and Collin Paulsen; one sister, Mary (Reuben) Birkholz of Lake Montezuma, Ariz.; one brother, Paul (Clarice) Paulsen of Edwardsville, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Leona Paulsen of Mauston, Wis.; and two stepbrothers, Paul (Carol) Mitby of Cashton and John (Arlene) Mitby of Rochester, Minn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Leroy; and his stepfather, Lester Mitby.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998 at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cashton, with Father Kevin Louis officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Pine Hollow. Relatives and friends are asked to call at the Torkelson Funeral Chapel in Cashton Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 8 p.m. They may also call at the chapel on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Ora Jane Miller
Ora Jane Miller, 54, of La Crosse, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998 in Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. Funeral services will be noon Wednesday in North Clayton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in North Clayton Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the church. The Sime Funeral Home, Readstown, is serving the family.

Angeline Waldera
INDEPENDENCE, Wis. - Angeline Waldera, 81, of Independence, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998 in Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home, Whitehall. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with spring burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 10 a.m. Friday, both at the Edison Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. prayer service followed by an 8 p.m. rosary Thursday evening.

Samuel James Gierok
INDEPENDENCE, Wis. - Samuel James Gierok, 2, of Independence, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998 in Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Independence Lutheran Church, Independence. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Edison Funeral Home, Independence; and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

William J. Schieche
William J. Schieche, age 86, of La Crosse, died in the Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse, on Sunday, February 15, 1998. He was born in La Crosse on February 19, 1911 to Joseph and Tillie (Pederson) Schieche. He married Irene Meyer in La Crosse on July 7, 1934.
In addition to his wife, William is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Donald) Frank of La Crosse, Linda (David) Stark of La Crosse and Sandra (Thomas) Goetzman of West Salem; three sons, Donald (Sue) of La Crosse, Robert of La Crosse and Walter (Deanna) of Wales, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, a sister and a daughter-in-law.
William loved his family and was a generous, talented and energetic man who liked helping his family, friends and church. He had a bright and curious mind and enjoyed working with electronics, short wave, model airplanes, and rocks and fossils.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19 at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ. The Reverend Donald Fox will officiate. Friends may call at the Sletten McKee Hanson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for St. John's United Church of Christ.

Curtis L. Stavlo
WEST SALEM - Curtis L. Stavlo, 74, of West Salem, died Sunday, February 15, 1998 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
He was born March 16, 1923, in the town of Burns to Clifford and Hilma (Olson) Stavlo. Curtis was baptized and confirmed in Bells Coulee Lutheran Church. On June 10, 1946, he married Catherine ``Dorothy'' Olson in West Salem. She preceded him in death on May 29, 1995. Curtis graduated from Mindoro High School. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army and was a 50-year member of Berg-Hemker-Olson American Legion Post 51, West Salem. Following military service, he started his own trucking and excavating business, C. L. Stavlo Trucking. Curtis also drove school bus for the West Salem School District for 17 years. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, West Salem and Salem Lodge #125 F&AM.
Survivors include three children, Sandra Stavlo of West Salem, Paula Boardman of Onalaska, and James (Jacalyn) Stavlo of West Salem; six grandchildren, Isaac Freitag, Kristin and Stephanie Boardman, Joseph Stavlo and Kimberly and William Stavlo; two brothers, Don (Ruth) Stavlo of West Salem and Harold ``LaVerne'' (Wanda) Stavlo of Sparta and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 18, 1998 at 11 a.m. from Our Savior's Lutheran Church, West Salem. Rev. J. David Bersagel and Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate. Burial will be in Burns Cemetery, with military rites by the West Salem American Legion Post 51. Friends may call at the Jostad-Jandt Funeral Home, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem, today from 5 to 7 p.m., with a masonic service to be held at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

James R. Kunde
WEST SALEM, Wis. - James R. Kunde, 75, of West Salem, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Lakeview Health Center, West Salem.
A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse. There will be no visitation.
Jostad-Jandt Funeral Home, West Salem, is in charge of arrangements.

Mabel Olevia Rosenwater Kvigne
FERRYVILLE, Wis. - Mabel Olevia Rosenwater Kvigne, age 93, passed away Feb. 10, 1998, at the Vernon Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1904, on a farm near Rising Sun, Crawford County, to Mark and Maria (Rand) Rosenwater. She was united in marriage to Julius B. Kvigne on June 12, 1929, he preceded her in death in 1973.
Surviving are three sons, Merlin (Francille), Stephen (Marilyn) of Ferryville and William (Shirley) of Mt. Sterling; 12 grandchildren, Mary Kvigne, Mark Kvigne, Marlys (Ike) Oldenburg, Marcia (Warren) Haugen, Miriam (Darrel) Oldenburg, Anne (Clayton) Heath, Steven (Patricia) Kvigne, John (Dawn) Kvigne, Karen (Kevin) Benzing, Ben Kvigne, Kevin (Marcia) Kvigne and Kris Kvigne; by 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothea Jurgensen of Soldiers Grove, Wis. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Almira Kvigne and Serena Fryseth.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at the Utica Lutheran Church. Pastor Paul Finger will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dommersnaes Bertram Family Funeral Home, Gays Mills, on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and at the church on Friday from noon until the time of services.

Florence F. Cunitz
NORWALK, Wis. - Florence F. Cunitz, 82, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at the Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Facility, La Crosse.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Richard) Marx, Sparta and Judy (Roger) Hyatt, Norwalk; two sons, Robert (Theresa) Cunitz, Norwalk and Donald (Darlene) Cunitz, Rockford, Ill.; one son-in-law, Leo Kruk, Jr., Rockford, Ill.; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Norwalk, with Rev. Kevin Louis officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery at Summit Ridge.
Friends may call at the Page-Smith Funeral Home, Norwalk, on Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 8 p.m. and on Friday from 8 to 9:45 a.m.
