Gustav H. Laumer
ONALASKA - Gustav H. Laumer, 81, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at the Onalaska Nursing Home. He was born June 13, 1917, at Rib Falls, Wis., to Gust and Elvina (Amelung) Laumer. He married Gertrude Obermeyer on June 25, 1946, at Poniatowski, Wis. He had been a foundry foreman prior to his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Gertrude, he is survived by a daughter, Judy (Doug) Karge, of Racine; a son, Ronald (Anne) Laumer, of Eagan, Minn.; by a sister, Elsie Schultz, of Marathon, Wis.; and by six grandchildren, Briony (Brad) Bohn, Stephanie (Heath) Matthew, Brindan Laumer, Alexander Laumer, and Matt and Sam Karge. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola and Loretta; and a brother, Albert.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. William Matzek will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the service.
The Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 401 Main Street, Onalaska, is assisting with the arrangements.

Evelyn C. Williams
CASHTON, Wis. - Evelyn C. Williams of Cashton, died on Sept. 26, 1998, at the Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. She was born Aug. 5, 1922, near Melvina, Wis., to Edwin and Selma (Allison) Olson. On Dec. 28, 1942, she married Harvey Simonson, he preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1953. On April 30, 1955, she was married to Norman Dunnum, who preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1966. She then was married to William Williams on June 7, 1980.
Evelyn was a graduate from the Sparta High School on June 3, 1936, she then graduated from the Viroqua Normal Teacher's College and later received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the UW-La Crosse. She taught at several area schools: Lyons Valley Elementary, The Cleveland School, near Newburgs Corners, and finally 23 years at the Norwalk-Ontario Elementary Schools. She was known for her love and compassion towards everyone.
In addition to her husband, William, she is survived by two children, Tom (Geri) Simonson of Cashton, and Debra Glick of West Salem; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Simonson of Cashton; 10 step-children, James (Marilyn) Dunnum of Phoenix, Ariz., Sharon (Rodney) Truog of Overland Park, Kan., Enid (James) Neubauer of Westby, Earl (Natalie) Williams of Huston, Texas, Gene Williams of Hastings, Minn., Larry L. (Debra) Williams of Fort Collins, Colo., Lonie J. (Julie) Williams of Scottsdale, Ariz., Curtis (Theresa) Williams of Worthington, Minn., Michael (friend Bobbie) Williams of Hastings, Minn., Carol (Steven) Fair of Hastings, Minn.; one sister, Irene Stoddard of Ontario; and one sister-in-law, Fern Olson of Sparta; 43 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; a son, Ron; and brother Norman. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Sept. 30, 1998, at 11 a.m. from the Portland Lutheran Church near Cahston, with Pastor George Schick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Torkelson Funeral Chapel in Cashton, Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. They may also call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to the time of service.

Alice L. Weiland
Alice L. Weiland, 86, of La Crosse, died on Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at the St. Joseph's Rehabilitation Center, La Crosse. She was born on Jan. 8, 1912, in La Crosse to Ely and Martha D. (Overn) Shafto. She married Bernard F. Weiland on May 6, 1934, in La Crosse. Alice and her husband owned and operated Weiland's IGA in La Crosse for 25 years. She later served as a librarian at Holy Cross Seminary and at St. Pius X, parish school. She was a member Holy Trinity Catholic Church and had served as past president of the parish Rosary Society.
In addition to her husband, Bernard, she is survived by three daughters, Marie (Kent) Thurston of Timonium, Md., Delores ``Lori'' Patros of La Crosse, and Suzanne (Michael) Welch of Caledonia, Minn.; two sons, Richard (Mary Jane Gantenbein) Weiland of Northfield, Wis., and David (Carol Schraeder) Weiland of Lombard, Ill.; 19 grandchildren, Maureen (Dan) Sherman, Jeanne (Jim) Cerceo, Dan (Kathleen) Weiland, Kathryn (Dave) Johnson, Mary Therese (Richard) Mayerchek, Tony Weiland, Amy (Martin) Smith, Andy Weiland, Leif (Lisa) Thurston, Tina (Fred) Brandt, Kirk (Brenda) Thurston, Cindy (Eric) Baeder, Doug (Colleen) and Dan (Ann) Patros, Jeannette Patros, Michelle and Steven Weiland and Brent and Reed Welch; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Weiland of North Hollywood, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Pittenger.
Alice was a very special wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The Rev. Lawrence B. Berger will officiate. Entombment will be in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum, Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., and again on Wednesday, from 12:30 p.m. until departing for church. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lillian A. Schams
Lillian A. Schams, 83, of La Crosse, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, in Onalaska Nursing Home. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, La Crosse.

G. Malinda Roehrl
G. Malinda Roehrl, 95, of La Crosse, died on Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, in the Hillview Healthcare Center, La Crosse. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Hone, La Crosse.

LeRoy L. Tamminen
ONALASKA - LeRoy L. Tamminen, 54, of Onalaska, died in his home on Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Fossum Funeral Home, Onalaska.

Emma E. Passon
INDEPENDENCE, Wis. - Emma E. Passon, 87, of Independence, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at her residence. Private family services will be held at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with burial in the church cemetery. Edison Funeral Home, Independence, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Malcolm `Pork' Warner
WHITEHALL, Wis. - Malcolm ``Pork'' Warner, age 82, of Whitehall, Wis., died on Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, in the Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home in Whitehall, after a losing battle with emphysema, courageously fought, having been a resident there since Sept. 21, 1998.
Malcolm was born on Oct. 27, 1915, in town of Hale, Trempealeau County, Wis., to David and Anne (George) Warner. He attended the nearby school which he fondly referred to as ``Wagner Tech.'' After graduating from the Whitehall High School in 1935, he attended Eau Claire and Whitewater colleges and taught school at the Lake Coulee country school.
Malcolm was a World War II veteran and had enlisted in the United States Navy on Jan. 6, 1942. After four years of service, he was discharged honorably on Feb. 1, 1946, with the rank of yeoman 1/C.
Malcolm married Marjorie (Klick) Edwards in Independence, Wis., on April 29, 1950, and they made their home in Whitehall. He was a member of the United Methodist Church; a member and past commander of the VFW Post #8288 and in later years, a volunteer driver for the Trempealeau County Agency on Aging for 18 years; and a loyal Packer fan.
Malcolm enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent many vacations on northern Wisconsin lakes. He was at home ``behind the wheel'' of a car as he and his wife took a motor trips to the lower Canadian Provinces and an Alaskan ferry voyage through the Inland Passage. Malcolm especially enjoyed the winter months spent along Florida's Gulf Coast with his wife.
Mr. Warner is survived by his wife Marjorie Warner of Whitehall; one son, Greg (Ruth) Warner; grandchildren, David J., Kyle, and Maria all of Onalaska; a step-granddaughter, Ellissa Edwards Doherty of Muskegon, Mich.; a sister, Edith (Tony) Costa of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Warner of Whitehall; two nieces and four nephews.
In addition to his parents, Malcolm was preceded in death by a step-son, Jeffrey Edwards; and three brothers, Grant, Sidney, and Donald.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church in Whitehall, with the Rev. Tom Elliott officiating. Private graveside services will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery in Independence, Wis., at a later date.
Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall, is assisting the family with arrangements.
You are loved, Pork, and will be sorely missed by your family.

Salome A. `Sally' Lenox
WEST SALEM, Wis. - Salome A. ``Sally'' Lenox, 72, of West Salem, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at the Mulder Health Care Center, West Salem, after a battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. She was born Feb. 27, 1926, in La Crosse, to Thomas and Salome (Kaminsky) Pretasky. Sally attended St. James School and Aquinas High School, graduating in 1943. On Oct. 5, 1946, she was united in marriage with Gordon Lenox at the St. James Catholic Church in La Crosse.
Sally was a beautiful piano and organ player and played for several weddings, funerals and other activities in the community. She also served as the organist for St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in West Salem for 25 years. Sally was employed as a caregiver for the La Crosse County Health Center for 25 years. She also worked for the St. Francis Community Programs for seven years, and she volunteered at the Mulder Health Care Center in West Salem for eight years.
Sally was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Gordy of West Salem; two daughters, Peggy (Scott) Dennison of Waunakee, Wis., and Diane (Steve) Brevins of Newport News, Va.; three sons, Gordon James (Becky) of Pekin, Ill., David (Sandy) of Chicago, Ill., and Steven (Jeanine) of Sandstone, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marion (Farrell) Pahs of La Crosse; and two brothers, Edward (Zita) Pretasky of La Crosse and James (Theresa) Pretasky of Tripoli, Wis.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at 11 a.m. from St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 210 W. Hamlin St., West Salem. Father Bob Hegenbarth will officiate. A private burial with the family will follow in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. The Jostad-Jandt Funeral Home, West Salem, is in charge of arrangements.

Julia Kaukl
HILLSBORO, Wis. - Julia Kaukl, 92, of Madison and formerly of Hillsboro, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, in Karmenta Nursing Home, Madison. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, both in Hillsboro. Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Picha Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
