Marvin N. Batchelor
July 14, 1923 - May 6, 2008
Marvin N. Batchelor, 84, returned home after a long illness on Tuesday May 6, 2008.
He was born on July 14, 1923, to the late John and Clara (Raine) Batchelor in Turtle Lake, ND. Marv graduated from Mineral Point High School on 1941. He married the love of his life, the former Sylvia Joan Peterson, on April 18, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Beloit. They shared 61 years of marriage and raised four children. Marv enlisted into the U.S. Army on Jan. 14, 1943, serving his Country during World War II with the 383rd Anti Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He bravely fought in the South Pacific, Australia and New Guinea until his honorable discharge on Oct. 7, 1944. Marv worked at Twin Disc Clutch Co. in Rockford for 31 years until his retirement in 1983. He was a past president of the 20-year club at Twin Disc, past president of Employees Association of Twin Disc, a member of U.A.W. #765, and a life member of Post #2306 V.F.W. Marv was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church and worked on the original building committee and held various other offices at the church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Batchelor; his four children: Linda (David) Hughes, Bonnie Sue (Lanier) Norman, Philip (Eileen) Batchelor and Lance John (Ann) Batchelor; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bernice and Susan; and his brother, George.
Marvin’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2008, at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1531 Townline Ave., Beloit, with Rev. Dennis Pingel officiating. Friends will be received on Monday at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be sent to Boy Scout Troop #608 or Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Following Marv’s service, the cortege will process to East Lawn Cemetery for Committal and Full Military Burial Rites performed by V.F.W. Post #2306.

Susan K. Bates
May 25, 1955 - April 24, 2008
Susan K. Bates, 52, of Beloit, WI, formerly of Clinton, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at home. She was born in Beloit on May 25, 1955, the daughter of Merrill and Ruth (Thompson) Paynter. She married Jimmy Bates on Sept. 26, 1981, at the First Presbyterian Church, Clinton. “I want to be remembered as the girl who sang her song for Jesus Christ”. Sue’s commitment was to her family, to the children of her church and community, and to anyone in need of support or strength. She ministered to many through her music, her undying faith, and her courage to live as a Christian. Sue knew what it meant to be human and to forgive herself and others. The impact of her life has been felt by many.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; two sons, Derek (Jenna) and Cameron Bates, both of Beloit; two grandchildren, Evan and Kylee Bates; her mother, Ruth (Ken) Byerley; three sisters: Christine Wesling of Beloit, Lori Kruizenga of Chicago, and Sandra (Brian) Jacobs of Clinton; a brother, Steven Paynter of Brooklyn, WI; two sisters-in-law, Judy (Jack) Roberts of Milton and Robin (Mike) McCann of Fairfax, VA; and four brothers-in-law: Steve (Kim) Bates of Chelsea, AL, Howard Bates, Doug Kruizenga, both of Minneapolis, MN, and Mike Wesling of Janesville. She is further survived by Randy (Shari) Byerley of Rockford, IL, Jeff (Cindy) Byerley of Rockford, Mary Mattelig of Beloit, Kathy (Phil) Warren of Clinton, Skip Byerley of Chicago, David (Nancy) Byerley of Janesville, Peggy (David) Buckler of Durand, IL, and Karen (Steve) Knutsen of Loves Park. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; and her brother, John.
Sue’s funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2008, at the FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 312 Church St., Clinton, with Rev. Scott Cernek of Harvest Hills Community Church officiating. Friends will be received on Sunday at the SCHOENFELD-MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, from 4 until 8 p.m. and again on Monday at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial’s may be directed to Beloit Regional Hospice.

MERELLE E. FOLL, age 84 of Milton, died on Tuesday October 9, 2007 at Ft. Atkinson Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Exira, Iowa, on August 8, 1923, the daughter of David and Marjorie (Oswald) Wilson.
She married Merlin E. Foll on December 13, 1941 in Illinois.
He preceded her in death on December 4, 2002.
She graduated from Broadview Academy in IL, and then attended the Chicago Conservatory of Music.
She was a music teacher and also the organist for her church and other churches in the area.
She was a member of the Seventh–day Adventist Church in Madison, WI.
She is survived by her 4 children – Lewellyn (Carole) Foll of Santa Barbara, CA, Judith (Larry) Miles of Keene, TX, Thomas (Jane) Foll of Whitewater, WI and Ronald (Lorelei) Foll of Thousand Oaks, CA, 4 granddaughters – Sarah (Dustin) Warren, Jennifer Miles and Sarah and Anna Foll, one great grandson Evan Warren, one brother – Dorian Wilson of Sun City, AZ, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday October 13, 2007 at 4:00 PM at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 910 Femrite Drive, Madison, WI, 53716 with the Rev Bill Ochs officiating.
Friends may call at the church after 3:00 PM until time of the services.

David M. Biddick

David M. Biddick, 68, of Janesville, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Mercy Harvard Hospital. He was born in Madison on Nov. 17, 1939, the son of Ralph and Alice (Coward) Biddick. He graduated from Stoughton High School in 1957 and had attended UW Whitewater. David married Sally Schuppener on Sept. 11, 1971, in Janesville. He had previously owned and operated the Shell Service and Bulk Station in Stoughton and later served as a pilot for Midwest Aviation and Scott Air Charter flying for Prent Corporation and Beloit Corporation. David also worked for Gordie Boucher and was a real estate agent. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed boating, golfing, and putzing in the garage.
He is survived by his wife, Sally; three children: Rebecca (Andrew) Gregg of Janesville, Matthew Biddick of Madison, and Joshua (Kari) Biddick of Janesville; grandchildren: Sarah and Nicholas Gregg and soon to be, Carson David Biddick; a sister, Dorothy (Don) Povejsil of Arizona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Turner and brother-in-law, Tom Turner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at ST. MATTHEW’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, with Rev. Mark Lindner officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew’s Church and School.

James H. Britton, 65, died at his home on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born on Dec. 17, 1942, in Eligin, IL, to the late Harold and Genevieve (Burr) Britton.
At the age of three, he moved to Whitewater, WI.
He graduated from Whitewater High School in 1960.
He would meet the love of his life, Caroline Liebetrau and would marry her in Cross Plains, WI on May 9, 1964.
Jim worked for General Motors, Milton College, and M & I Bank.
He was a Cub Scout Leader and an EMT for the Milton Fire Department, participated on the Planning and Zoning board for the City of Milton and Milton Township, was on the council for Hope Lutheran Church, and was a member of WIS-IL Model Railroading Club.
In his spare time, Jim loved working with model trains, woodworking, camping, motorcycling, traveling, and being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Jim was always nice to everybody and over the last year, his patience was a virtue that his family admired and learned from him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Caroline Britton of Milton; three children: Michael (Lori) Britton and their son, Zach of Janesville, Michelle Britton of Deforest, WI, and Daniel (Patti) Britton and their daughter, Emily of Barrington, IL; two sisters, Marion Fendrick of Idaho and Judy Jacobson of California; seven brothers and sisters-in-law: Albert (Sue) Liebetrau of Powell Butte, OR, Earle (Karen) Liebetrau of Viola, WI, Norma (Kenneth) Schmidt of Mundelein, IL, Kenneth Liebetrau of Black Earth, WI, Joyce (Alan) Maly of Waunakee, WI, Lloyd (Marilyn) Liebetrau of Lakewood, CO, and James (Tina) Liebetrau of Janesville; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Genevieve Britton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH in Milton, with Pastor Matthew Powell and Pastor George Carlson officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, from 4 until 7 p. m. at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH-ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, MILTON and from 10 a. m. until the start of the service at THE CHURCH on Saturday.
Memorials may be made in Jim's name to Hope Lutheran Church or HospiceCare Inc.
