Clement L. Ellis
Clement L. Ellis, 87, of La Crosse died Wednesday, September 17, 1997, at the La Crescent Health Care Center in La Crescent.
He was born September 5, 1910, in Troy, Minnesota, to Joseph A. and C. Nellie (Hennessey) Ellis. Clement graduated from Chatfield High School in 1927 and also from St. Mary's College in Winona in 1931. He received his Master's Degree in school administration from the University of Minnesota in 1955. He later furthered his education in counseling at Winona State University. Clement worked as a teacher, principal and counselor for the Mable-Canton, Minn., schools for 21 years, retiring in 1976.
Clement is survived by six daughters, Rose (Michael) Haugerud of Lilburn, Ga., M. Patricia (Dave) Nichols of Friday Harbor, Wash., Sharon (Al) Barth of Rochester, Minn., Julie (Vince) McKenna of Paris, Texas, Barb (Tom) Sheehan and Susan (John) Greening, both of La Crescent, Minn.; two sons, Robert (Eunice) Ellis of La Crescent, Minn., and Richard J. Ellis of New Orleans, La.; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ellis; a granddaughter, Christine Billmyer; and a sister, Maxine Foster.
Clement was a beloved father and grandfather. During his retired years he enjoyed traveling, especially his visits to Ireland. He was also an avid chess player. Clement was a 50 year member of Gittens-Leidel American Legion Post No. 595 in La Crescent, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 20, 1997, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Crucifixion in La Crescent with Rev. Donald Grubisch officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chatfield, Minn.
Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

Joseph J. Susajlo
Joseph J. Susajlo, 42, of La Crosse, died Tuesday, September 16, 1997, at the Tomah VA Hospital.
He was born in Bay Shore, N.Y., on December 13, 1954, to John J. and Joan (Stebe) Susajlo. He served in the United States Army.
He is survived by a daughter, Stena Susajlo of La Crosse; two sons, Michael and Kenneth Susajlo, both of La Crosse; his father, John Susajlo of Bay Shore, Long Island, N.Y.; three sisters, Joan Corell of Duluth, Ga., Pat Leskowitz of Maryland and Lenore Clark of Georgia; and three brothers, Peter of Charlotte, N.C., Jay of Oakdale, N.Y. and John of Bayshore, Long Island, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 19, at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. The Reverend Larry Berger will officiate.
Friends may call at the church on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service.
The Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Herb Degenhardt
BLUE RIVER, Wis. - Herb Degenhardt, 85, of Blue River, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997, at his home in Blue River.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church, rural Mount Hope. Burial in the church cemetery. There will be no visitation.
The Thoni-Kendall Funeral Service in Boscobel is in charge of arrangements.

Michael T. Dagnon
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis./ROCKFORD, Ill. - Michael T. Dagnon, 91, of Rockford, Ill., and formerly of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997, at St. Ann's Care Center, Rockford, Ill.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien.
Friends may call today from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m.

Derek Allen Beirne
HOLMEN, Wis. - Derek Allen Beirne, son of Jeff and Nina Beirne, of 424 Wade Drive, Holmen, died shortly after birth on Wednesday, September 17, 1997.
He is survived by his parents and two brothers, Tyler and Austin.
Private family services will be Friday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Holmen. The Reverend Delbert Malin will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery.
The Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 515 McHugh Road, is assisting with the arrangements.

Kenneth W. Reed
Kenneth W. Reed, 87, of La Crosse died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.
He was born in La Crosse on July 23, 1910, to Clarence and Hilda (Michaelson) Reed. He was retired as an aircraft mechanic working for Viking Aviation.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Norstad) of La Crosse; one daughter, Marilyn (Glen) Foner of St. Charles, Mo.; one son, Walter of La Crosse; two grandchildren, Zachary and Nicole Reed. He is preceded in death by one brother, Robert C. Reed.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 19, 1997, at 1 p.m. at the Oak Grove Cemetery Chapel, 1407 La Crosse Street. The Rev. Don Iliff will officiate and burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel on Friday from noon until time of service.
The Woodruff Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lorraine D. Pedretti
ONALASKA, Wis. - Lorraine D. Pedretti, 79, died at the Onalaska Nursing Home On Friday, Sept. 4, 1998. She was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Upsala, Minn., to Axel and Ellen (Bergman) Bergman. She married John Pedretti on June 1, 1936, and he preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1987. She is survived by: three sisters and one brother, Gloria Moore, Yorkville, Ill., Le Roy (Lois) Berman, Braidwood, Ill., Elena (Harold) Hilber, Braidwood, Ill. Mass of the Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. William Matzek will officiate and burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dickinson Funeral Home, 401 Main St., Onalaska, today from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the service. The rosary will recited at 7 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Marie E. Herricks
CASHTON, Wis. - Marie E. Herricks, 89, of Cashton, died on Thursday, Sept. 8, 1998, at the Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Sparta. Marie was born June 5, 1909, in Cashton, to Tony and Margaret (Fuenger) Herricks.
She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Pervisky of Burlington, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Florence Svacina, Evelyn Dockendorf, and Martha Mashak; and one brother Leonard.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cashton, with Father Al Wozniak officiating, and burial in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Torkelson Funeral Chapel in Cashton on today, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and also at the chapel on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
