Wilbert LeRoy Oliver
Wilbert LeRoy Oliver, 76, of La Crosse, died on Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998 in his home.
He was born on Oct. 22, 1921 on Chaseburg Ridge, Wis. to Chester C. and Maple Oca (Burkhardt) Oliver. He married Ruth Lockington on Jan. 4, 1941 and they divorced in 1991. Wilbert farmed for nine years and then owned and operated a grocery store on Stoddard Ridge for eight years. He worked as a welder at Joseph J. Leinfelder & Sons, Inc. for 21 and 1/2 years and at Ted Mannsted's for two years. He also worked at the Cooler Company running a press and break for two years and building houseboats for Skipperliner and Sam Mattie for 6 1/2 years and at ORC Fabricating for 6 1/2 years. Wilbert also loved to fish and dance.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne D. (Bonnie) Oliver of Onalaska and Jerry A. Oliver of French Island; two daughters, Janie L. (Richard) Staszewski of La Crosse and Angela D. (Steven) Holinka of La Crosse; seven grandchildren, Darrin of Lexington, Ky., Parker of Lawrenceville, Ga., Timothy of Georgia, Becky and Sarah Oliver of La Crosse and Kate and Tony Holinka of La Crosse; four great-grandchildren; his ex-wife, Ruth; one brother, Orbin E. Oliver of Cadot, Wis.; two sisters, Marjorie Renner and Marilyn McGowan of La Crosse; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 17, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse with Rev. Luther Borgen officiating. Burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m., where a Moose Lodge Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m., and again on Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Derek R. Boehlke
Derek R. Boehlke, age 31, of Hudson and formerly of La Crosse, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born June 11, 1967 in La Crosse to Richard and Carole (Kaiser) Boehlke.
Derek was a 1986 graduate of Logan High School. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in microbiology. He worked for Menards of La Crosse while attending UW-La Crosse. He currently was working in the microbiology field for the Alexon-Trend Co. of Ramsey, Minn. Derek was an organ donor.
He is survived by his parents, Richard and Carole of Mindoro; by a sister, Christine (Mike) Miller of Hastings, Minn.; by a brother, Randy Boehlke and his fiancee, Jean Freybler of La Crosse; by two nephews, Jake and Cole Miller; and by his girlfriend, Lee Morgan, and her daughter Laura of Coon Rapids, Minn. His grandparents preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be Sunday, Aug. 16, at 3 p.m. at the North Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Allan Townsend will officiate. Memorials may be given to the Boys and Girls Club of La Crosse or to the North Presbyterian Church.
Dickinson Family Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.

Dr. Richard K. ``Dick'' Wines
WEST SALEM, Wis. - Dr. Richard K. ``Dick'' Wines, 56, of West Salem, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998 at his home after a long battle with lung cancer.
He was born June 15, 1942, in Kokomo, Ind. to Merel and Thelma (Cone) Wines. Dick served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1965. On Aug. 31, 1963, he married Nora Jane Grainger at Grace Methodist Church in Kokomo, Ind. Dick received a bachelor degree in marketing, a bachelor of science degree in optometry and in 1972 a Doctorate of Optometry, all from Indiana University. He was a Doctor of Optometry with Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in the Coulee Region, completing 25 years of practice in January, 1998. Dick was a former member of the Onalaska and Sparta Chamber of Commerce, a past president of the West Salem Rotary Club, a former member of the Onalaska Jaycee's and a member of the National Muzzelloaders Association. He was also a member of the Coulee Region Optometric Association, the Wisconsin Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dick enjoyed woodworking and golfing and was an avid reader of history.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; two daughters, Stephanie (fiance Mike Greene) Wines of De Kalb, Ill., and Erica (Jeremy) Parsneau of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; three sisters, Rebecca (Clint) Smith of Russiaville, Ind., Rita Wines of Kokomo, Ind., and Rhenda (Kent) Acton of Logansport, Ind.; four brothers, Robert (Shirley) Wines of Ellettsville, Ind., Ronald (Shelby) Wines of Plainfield, Ind., Roger (Marcia) Wines of Evansville, Ind., and Randall (Becky) Wines of Plainfield, Ind.; one brother-in-law, Jack Behny of Greentown, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosalie Behny.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. from West Salem Presbyterian Church, 134 E. Hamilton St. Rev. Jonathan V. Eastman and Dr. John Sterling will officiate. Interment will be at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kokomo, Ind. Friends may call at the church on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center Oncology Department. Jostad-Jandt Funeral Home, West Salem, is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret R. McMillan
HILLSBORO, Wis. - Margaret R. McMillan, 85, formerly of the Hillsboro area, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998 at the Sauk County Health Care Center of rural Reedsburg. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Picha Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hillsboro. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.

Vern F. Hammon
SPARTA/CATARACT, Wis. - Vern F. Hammon, 97, of Cataract, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998 at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare Nursing Home, Sparta.
He was born on Aug. 14, 1900 at Black Valley near Wilton to William and Pauline (Claire) Hammon. He was baptized on Oct. 21, 1900 at St. Mathew's in Wilton. In 1917 he moved to Chicago and learned the machinist trade and worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 15 years.
He returned to Cataract in 1929 and married the former Dorothy Zellmer on April 9, 1939 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Tomah. They owned and operated the Moonlight Pavilion Dance Hall and Tavern from 1940 until they retired in 1965.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy on May 5, 1992; three sisters, Caroline Koehler, Rachel Brahm, Rose Parmenter; two brothers, Clyde and William.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Cataract with Reverend Paul Kante officiating. Burial will be in the Cataract Cemetery, Cataract.
Friends may call at the Lanham-Kann Funeral Home, Sparta on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Judy A. Hanson
Judy A. Hanson, 54, of La Crosse, died on Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. from complications of congestive heart failure.
She was born on April 27, 1944 in La Crosse to Russell B. and Lois J. (Dalsasso) Phillips and attended schools in De Soto, Wis. On June 24, 1961 she married Roger C. Hanson in Genoa, Wis. Judy worked as a clerk for the Brick Oven Bakery in La Crosse for 13 years, retiring in June of 1997 due to ill health. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 1526 in La Crosse. Judy enjoyed her grandchildren, her various collections and traveling with her husband.
In addition to her husband, Roger, she is survived by a daughter, Connie (Scott) Hurd of Tomah, Wis.; a son, Russell Hanson of La Crosse; four grandchildren, Benjamin Hurd, Steven Hanson, Christopher Hanson and Katlyn Hanson; her mother, Lois Phillips of Chaseburg, Wis.; three brothers, Ronald Phillips of Chaseburg, Wis., Dave (Kathy) Phillips of Brownsville, Minn., and Ken Phillips of Bremerton, Wash.; mother-in-law, Irene Hanson of Viroqua, Wis.; along with several nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her father, Russell B. Phillips and her father-in-law, James Hanson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence B. Berger officiating. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Monday from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. A Women of the Moose Prayer Service will be held at 6 p.m. followed by a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Norma Pozanc
TREMPEALEAU, Wis. - Norma Pozanc, age 70, of Onalaska, and formerly of Trempealeau, died Thursday at the Onalaska Nursing Home.
She was born July 5, 1928 to Harold and Bertha (Hunter) Mossberger in Evansville, Ind.
Norma is survived by five daughters, Barbara (Hubert) Hoffman, Pat (David) Zweifka, Kathy ``Kate'' Malles, all of Trempealeau, Robyn and Marlyn Pozanc of Cashton, and Vicki (Jerry) Johnston of Trempealeau; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Wayne (Judy) Mossberger and Harold Jr. (Marilee) Mossberger, both of Evansville, Ind.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Trempealeau. Rev. Jerry Hanson will officiate. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Smith Mortuary in Galesville and from 1 p.m. until services at the church on Tuesday.

Arnold G. `Prof' Storkel
TOMAH, Wis. - Arnold G. ``Prof'' Storkel, 88, of Tomah, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998 at the Tomah Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services Tuesday, both at the funeral home.
