Byron R. Lowe
SANTA ROSA, Calif. - Byron R. Lowe, age 29, of Santa Rosa, Calif., and formerly of La Crosse, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, in Santa Rosa. He was born Nov. 27, 1968, in La Crosse, to Regis and Gloria (Tilson) Lowe. Byron attended St. James Catholic Grade School and Logan High School. Byron enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968 and began his service in Fort Dix, New Jersey, and served in several locations, including Honduras. Byron enjoyed the challenges of the training and travel. The friendships he made while in the Army meant a great deal to Byron and they are in our hearts today. In 1989, he was honorably discharged, and then returned to La Crosse and his family. Byron took great pride and pleasure designing and building oak furniture for his parents, sisters, and grandparents. We use these items in our daily lives and we feel the love Byron has for us all. In 1994, Byron moved to Eureka, Calif., in the northern part of the state. Byron worked various jobs and attended the College of the Redwoods in Eureka. He began his career with the U.S. Postal Service. Byron was introduced to hiking and camping in the beautiful mountains of northern Calif. He was blessed with his special friendships with Gordy, Doug and Tami and their love. After relocating to Santa Rosa, Calif. with the postal service in 1997, Byron was blessed to have the friendship and love of two special friends, Rose and Jenne. Byron was very much a free spirit; always curious, always exploring, always searching for more in life. As a little boy, it was Byron's dream to live in Calif., ti have a motorcycle and a Porche. As Byron grew up this dream stayed strong. His military career was additional testament to the exploring free spirit within Byron that could never be silenced.
Byron's love of football was inherited from his grandfather Lowe and his dad. It was only natural that Byron would become a Packer fan at an early age. Because of the limited airing of Packer games in Calif.; it was game time practice for Byron to spend hours on the phone so his father could give him the play by play. When he was able to view a game, they would still be on the phone discussing each play. Byron was a gentle and compassionate man who loved his family deeply. There was always room in Byron's heart to love and care for a pet, especially his cat Julio.
He is survived by his parents, Regis and Gloria Lowe of La Crosse; two sisters, Kathy (Marc) Snodgrass of La Crosse, Becky (Tom) Heller of Dickeyville, Wis.; two nieces, Caitlin and Megan; his maternal grandmother, Angeline Tilson and his grandfather Earl `Sparky' Lowe. He is further survived by a very special uncle Otis Noe; and several aunts; uncles;and cousins. He was preceded in death by two grandparents, Virginia Lowe, and Glen Tilson. Byron's leaving has broken our hearts and lives. We ask why and know that only God has the answers. We know He will give us the strength to go on as Byron would want. We will always hold Byron in our hearts and treasure the short time with him that was God's gift to us. We pray for God's love and peace for all of you who loved and cared for Byron.
