Dennis Rothenbuehler
Dennis Rothenbuehler, 56, of Chetek died Dec. 22 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn.
Mr. Rothenbuehler was born Nov. 3, 1941 in Baltimore, Md., to Perry and Mabel (Hill) Rothenbuehler. He was in the Air Force for 20 years, served in Vietnam and achieved the rank of technical sergeant. He had worked in beverage and food service for many years at the B&B in Chetek.
Mr. Rothenbuehler is survived by one son, Jack of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter, Erin of Madison; and one sister, Pam Wilson of Japan.
Herman Schnoor
Herman I. Schnoor, 78, of Birchwood died Jan. 12 at his home.
Mr. Schnoor was born on July 6, 1919 to Herman and Ruth Schnoor at New Auburn, where he grew up, received his education and worked as a farm hand. He later worked for Oscar Meyer in Madison. He married Bredella Fleuter in 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa, and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of WWII. He returned to Madison in 1945 and worked for Oscar Meyer and as a concrete contractor. In 1952 he started a concrete construction business, which he operated until 1972, when he and his wife moved to Brill. There the couple operated Uncle Herman's Wonder Bar until the early 80s. Mr. Schnoor was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Brill Area Sportsmans Club.
Mr. Schnoor is survived by three sons, Gary Schnoor of Birchwood, Jim Schnoor of Harris, Minn., and Bill Sudegeon of Rice Lake; six daughters, Peggy Raleigh of Sun Prairie, Betty Ninedorf of Tampa, Fla., Judy Pieschl of Bellevue, Idaho, Kathy Smith of Brill, Jackie Knallay of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., and Joyce Schnoor of Sarona; 28 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; three brothers, Harvey Lund of Exeland, George Lund of Woodridge, Ill., and Roy Lund of Chicago, Ill.; and a sister, Glenice Ferri of Chicago.
Mr. Schnoor was preceded in death by his wife, Bredella, in 1984
Mildred Seeger
Mildred Gladys Lenora Seeger, 91, of Prairie Farm died Jan. 15 at Barron Medical Center. .
Mrs. Seeger was born Nov. 22, 1906 to Carl and Clara (Swenson) Moen in Garness, Minn. She attended school in Garness through Grade 7 and then moved with her family to Wisconsin, where she completed her schooling in Dallas. She graduated from the Rice Lake Normal School on June 5, 1924 and taught at the Turtle Creek School for several years. On May 10. 1928 she married to John Seeger at Barron. They farmed south of Prairie Farm until 1956, moved into the village of Prairie Farm. She was a member of the United Lutheran Church Women and Hope Circle.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald of Rochester, Minn., and Herby of Turtle Lake; three daughters, Elaine Wells of Barron, Beverly Mullarky of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Mildred Sartor of Huntington Beach, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alton Moen of Barron.
Mrs. Seeger was preceded in death by her husband, John, on Sept. 7, 1991.
Edith Sellers
Edith C. Vernice Sellers, 87, of rural Chetek/Cameron died Jan. 7 at the Dallas Healthcare Center in Dallas.
The former Edith Cooper was born March 22, 1910 in Chicago. She married Terry L. Sellers on May 27, 1939 there and was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper in the Chicago area for many years. Mrs. Sellers moved to the Chetek area in 1970. She was a member of the Eastern Star and had a great love for reading, working crossword puzzles and playing piano.
Mrs. Sellers is survived by a nephew, Terry Sellers of Phillips; and a niece, Gayle Miskell of Ely, Minn.
Dale Shaleski
Dale G. Shaleski, 56, of Cedarburg died Dec. 28 at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake.
Mr. Shaleski was a part-time resident of the Cameron-Chetek area. He is survived by his wife, Dulcie; a son, Stephen, and one daughter, Cynthia Zbytniewski, both of Milwaukee; and one grandson.
Dorothy Svea
Dorothy Antoinnette Svea, 75, of Lake Nebagamon and formerly of Rice Lake, died Jan. 1 at her home.
Mrs. Svea was born Sept. 9, 1922 in Milwaukee to William and Emily (Napierla) Blockowitz. She had lived in Lake Nebagamon since 1989.
She is survived by four sons, Thomas Kordus of Renton, Wash., Rev. Timothy Svea of Cashton, Theodore Svea of St. Paul and Randal Svea of Madison; three daughters, Linda Pfeiffer of New Berlin, Sandra Damiani of Apple Valley, Minn., and Ramona Daniel of Marstons Mills, Mass.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Blockowitz of Muskego; and two sisters, Sylvia Kwiakowski of Milwaukee and Jeannie Rendflesh of Muskego. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ervin Kordus.
Rev. Earl Swanson
The Rev. Earl David Holst Swanson, 83, of Fort Frances, Ontario, died Jan. 2 at La Verendrye General Hospital there.
Mr. Swanson was born Sept. 9, 1914 in the Town of Wood River to Albert and Esther Swanson. He was raised and later worked on the family farm. He married Beth Cole on June 11, 1951. He graduated from Northpark Seminary in Chicago in 1955 and then served many churches, including one in Chetek. He later served the Evangelical Covenant church in Fort Frances for 42 years. He played semiprofessional hockey and amateur baseball and had been chosen 1995 Citizen of the Year in Fort Frances.
Rev. Swanson is survived by his wife, Beth; a son, Steve of Fort Mills, S.C.; a daughter, Alberta Madsen of Wayne, N.J.; four grandchildren; a brother, Stewart of Siren; and two sisters, Esther Swanson of St. Paul, Minn. and Gladys Carrol of Pocatello, Idaho.
Charles Theos
Charles A. Theos, 73, of the Town of Madge died Dec. 26 at the Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake.
Mr. Theos was born Oct. 25, 1924 in Chicago, Ill., to Nicholas and Catherine Theos. He attended school in Chicago, and on June 25, 1953 married Darlys Wood there. They lived in Des Plaines, Ill., and operated the New Crystal Restaurant until moving to the Town of Madge, where they owned and operated the J&J Resort from 1977 until retiring in 1996. Mr. Theos was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Darlys; one daughter, Diana Cook of Dillon, Colo.; one granddaughter, Heather Wickstrom of Breckenridge, Colo.; one brother, Andrew of South Carolina; and one sister, Anna of Elgin, Ill.
Doris Van Lone
Doris Van Lone, 88, of Noblesville, Ind., and formerly of Rice Lake and Hebron, died Jan. 13 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
Ms. Van Lone graduated from the Eau Claire Teachers' College and retired in 1974 after 40 years as secretary for the Rice Lake High School. She had been a member of the hospital auxiliary craft class in Rice Lake.
She is survived by a niece, Ann Van Lone of Indianapolis, Ind.
Jeanette Vruwink
Jeanette Vruwink, 94, of Barron died Jan. 16 at Barron Riverside Manor Nursing Home.
Ms. Vruwink was born Nov. 2, 1903 to Albert and Mary (Meylink) Vruwink in Cedar Grove. She moved with her family to Baldwin, where she attended school and did seamstress work. She later moved to Oak Park, Ill., where she worked at Mars Corp. and then returned to Cedar Grove after her retirement. In 1986 she moved to Barron and had lived there since.
She is survived by a brother, Harry of Barron; and three sisters, Mable of Barron, Olive Law of Red Wood Falls, Minn., and Elva Vergeront of Madison.
