Staven, Herbert Ernest
Born March 5, 1909 in Grafton, ND and died Feb. 11, 1998 in Milwaukee, WI. Beloved husband of Leona (nee Travnicek) to whom he was married on Feb. 17, 1930. Dear father of Yvonne (Ralph) Kennedy of Jacksonville, FL and Leland (Laura) Staven of Rome, GA. Fond grandfather of Karl, Kurt Staven, Heidi Staven Carpenter, and Jon and Paul Jagodinski. Also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Herb graduated from AAkers Business College in Grand Forks, ND. He was a heavyweight boxing champion for 3 years and never lost a fight. He served in the US Army Armored Division. He retired as regional sales manager from the United States Tobacco Co. He was a member of the Erwin C. Uihlein American Legion Post 411 since 1945. Past commander of Schlitz Post, past 5th District Sergeant of Arms, life member of Past Commanders, member of Lake Lodge 189 F.& A.M. since 1955 and Mix Masters Masonic Lodge since 1956. Herb also was a life member of Fosselyngen Lodge 82 Sons of Norway and the West Allis Moose Lodge 1019 since 1984. Herb will be in state Sat. (TODAY) from 11 AM until time of Services at 1:30 PM under the auspices of Day Lite Lodge 358, F.& A.M. Interment Services will be at 11 AM Mon. at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.
