HUMBIRD, Wis. - Fred A. Meyers, 83, of Humbird, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, in Fairchild Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery, rural Humbird. Friends may call one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
William A. Viney
TOMAH, Wis. - William A. Viney, 64, of Reedsburg, Wis., and formerly of Tomah, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, in University Hospital, Madison. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the White Funeral Home, and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, both in Tomah. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday in the funeral home.
Barbara D. Dopkins, 84
Barbara Dorothy Bruegger Dopkins, 84, of Brainerd, Minn., died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at St. Mary's Villa Care Center in Pierz, Minn.
Barbara Dorothy Bruegger Dopkins was born Oct. 6, 1914, to the late George and Carline Bruegger in Bowman, N.D. She and her family moved to the Beldenville area as children and attended the Forestville School and later, River Falls High School.
She met Stanley B. Dopkins at a Fargo School community play and after courting, they were married on Aug. 15, 1935. They farmed in that community.
She was a 4-H leader for Hill and Dale 4-H Club for over 25 years. She belonged to the Fargo Mission Guild and Homemakers Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Carline; her husband, Stanley; and a daughter, Dorothy Pruitt.
Survivors include Lew Walker of Brainerd, Minn., a very special friend for over 32 years; her son, Duane and Janice Dopkins of River Falls; her daughters: Ruth and Bill Moran of Gypsum, Colo., and Muriel and Clinton R. Mercord of Prescott; brothers: George Bruegger of Florida, Usher Bruegger of Albuqueque, N.M., Robert Bruegger of New Jersey; a sister: Edith and Bob Barber of Woodbury, Minn.; a son-in-law, Harold Pruitt; 21 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Friday, Sept. 17, at First Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Delbert Purmann officiating.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dana Pruitt, David Mercord, Ronald Mercord, Michael Dopkins, Daniel Mercord and Wade Eggers.

Ronald R. Shortreed, 57
Ronald R. Shortreed, 57, of River Falls died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, following a 2-year battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert; and a sister-in-law, Judie Bacigalupo.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Anita; his son, Jim; his grandson, Jordan; his mother, Dorothy; his brother, Russell; and Kathryn, his sister. Diane and Bob Klein; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral was to be Wednesday, Sept. 22, at noon, at Maple Oaks Funeral Home, 2585 Stillwater Rd., between Century and McKnight roads, St. Paul, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Interment was to be in Union Cemetery.
Teddy Traynor, 71
Teddy Traynor, 71, of Elmwood died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at United Hospital, St. Paul.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine, of Elmwood; four sons: John and Helen Traynor of River Falls, Phillip and Debbie Traynor of Beldenville, Peter and Karen Traynor of Ellsworth, and Michael Traynor of Ellsworth; seven grandchildren; one sister: Norma Bjornson of El Paso; other relatives and friends.
Reviewal was Sunday at Sacred Heart Church in Spring Valley.

Randall S. Stacy, 38
Randall Scott Stacy, 38, of Alexandria, Va., died in his sleep on Friday, Aug. 6, 1999.
He was born June 12, 1961, in Beloit. He traveled frequently throughout his life, living in Orlando, Philadelphia and San Diego, among other places.
He worked for a time as a flight attendant for United Airlines, until HIV-related health problems forced him to go on disability in 1986.
He met his life partner, Raoul Anderson, in Washington, D.C. They moved together to San Diego in 1988, where Randall worked in the home renovation field. He was adept at carpentry and electrical work, in addition to having a passion for gardening and landscaping. His other hobbies included drawing, painting and collecting knick-knacks.
Randall and Raoul returned to the Washington, D.C. area in 1991 and settled in Alexandria.
He was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Rusty.
He is survived by his partner, Raoul Anderson; many close friends including Ken Winslow, Phillip Bryson and Caroline and Zachary Phan; his parents: Charlotte Kay Bodette-Stacy and Marvin Stanton Stacy; and his German Shepherd, Erin.

Merl A. Youngren, 95
Merl Albert Youngren, 95, of Baldwin died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at the Baldwin Care Center.
He was born May 29, 1904, the son of Frank and Alice (Waldren) Youngren in the town of Verona in Faribault County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a long-time member of Gilman Lutheran Church in Spring Valley.
At age 11 his family moved to Brooten, Minn., and at age 16, they moved near River Falls. On May 29, 1929, he married Alice Herum in River Falls. They farmed in the town of Martell and the Spring Valley area until 1966.
After retiring the couple moved to Hammond and Merl worked for Green Thumb of Wisconsin for 13 years. In 1995 Merl entered the Baldwin Care Center.
Preceding him in death were his parents: Frank and Alice; his wife, Alice; and his twin brother, Earl Youngren.
Survivors include one son and one daughter: Orlan and Rita Youngren of Stillwater, Minn., and Mavis Hawkins of Maplewood, Minn.; five grandchildren: Kathryn Hawkins, Mark and Julie Youngren, Bradley Hawkins, Deborah and Michael Peterson and Eric Youngren; four great-grandsons: Sterling Just, Conner Youngren, Calvin Youngren and Keller Peterson; one brother, Carl and Ruth Youngren of Riverside, Calif.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral was Monday, Sept. 20, at Gilman Lutheran Church with the Rev. Keith Holste officiating. Music was provided by organist Carole Lynum and vocalist Dorla Holm.
Burial was in the Gilman Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: David Youngren, Terry Youngren, Darren Youngren, Ronald Haas, Douglas Haas and Robert Raehsler.
Wilda M. Deis, 72
Wilda M. Deis, 72, of River Falls, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at St. John's Hospital, Maplewood, Minn.
She was born May 10, 1927, the daughter of Harold Wilson and Lydia (Wilson) Leary. She received her education in River Falls and is a graduate of River Falls High School.
She married Harold Deis on Dec. 1, 1970.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Wilson and Lydia (Wilson) Leary; and her brother, Ed "Pat" Leary.
She is survived by her husband, Harold, of River Falls; her daughter, Linda and Mike Kriel of Cottage Grove, Minn., her grandson: Ted Sitz of St. Paul; her step-sons: Dennis Deis of Milwaukee, Thomas Deis of Milwaukee, Dale Deis of Milwaukee; her step-daughter, Diana Avilo of Milwaukee; a brother, Robert and Rose Leary of River Falls; and a sister, Lydia (Leary) Deans of Boyceville.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Sept. 16, at the River Falls United Methodist Church.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
