Edwin G. Morrow, 79
Edwin G. Morrow, 79, of Luck and formerly of River Falls, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at his daughter's home in River Falls.
He was born Sept. 10, 1920, in River Falls, the son of Cecil J. and Martha (Mueller) Morrow. He attended River Falls High School. He married Lorraine Gelo on July 1, 1941. He worked most of his life farming and sold real estate.
He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: LeRoy and Lymann; and his parents: Cecil and Martha.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of River Falls; his sons: Thomas and Cheryl of River Falls, and Daniel and Mary of River Falls; his daughters: Sandra and Gordon Gieseke of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Lana Flynn of Rochester, Minn., Roxanne Shaide of River Falls and Susan Bass of Rochester, Minn.; a brother, Deforrest Morrow of River Falls; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral was to be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the River Falls United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry McCann officiating.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jim Olson, Sr., Jim Olson, Jr., Kyle Morrow, Jim Gelo, Roger Shaide, Jr., and Joelle Murphy.
Cashman Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Benjamin L. Torkelson, 8
Benjaminin Lee Torkelson, 8, of River Falls, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, where he had been a patient since Friday, Sept. 17.
He was born April 22, 1991, at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, the son of Dennis and Kris (Bestul) Torkelson.
He was at the third grade level. From birth he dealt with health problems, but that did not stop him from experiencing life. He was learning to play the piano, loved watching and participating in sports and enjoyed the game of Nintendo.
He was intelligent and liked school subjects, especially math; his father nicknamed him, "Professor Ben." He touched many hearts and was loved by his family and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Lloyd Torkelson and a sister, Abigail.
Surviving are his parents, Dennis and Kris Torkelson of River Falls; two sisters, Sarah and Hannah; his paternal grandmother, Marlys Torkelson of Baldwin; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Lola Bestul of Viroqua and six uncles and seven aunts.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24, at the Abundant Life Church of River Falls, with the Rev. Kevin Humphrey officiating. At the service music was provided by the Music Ministry of the Abundant Life Church and Ben's mother, Kris Torkelson, sang a special song. The scripture reading was by Sharon Handrahan and the eulogy was given by Ann Finstad.
Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m., at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin and one hour prior to the church service.
Burial was in Woodside Cemetery in the town of Rush River where pallbearers were Kurt Bestul, Gary Torkelson, Jim Torkelson and Rod Torkelson.
Memorials to the family are preferred.

Clemens J. Denzer, 84
Clemens J. Denzer, 84, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at St. Michael's Lutheran Home in Fountain City.
He was born May 5, 1915, in the town of Trimbelle in Pierce County, the son of Henry and Helena (Hauth) Denzer. On July 3, 1940, he married Shirley Green in Iowa. She died April 10, 1990.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents: Henry and Helena; five brothers: Barney, Henry, Jr., John, Ferdinand, and Frank; and a sister, Helena Kullman.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia and Bruce Spriggle of Cochrane; two grandsons: Bill and Bart; one granddaughter, Roberta; two great-granddaughters; and one sister, Margaret Hartwig of River Falls.
A Memorial Mass was Friday, Sept. 24, at St. Bridget Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Harris officiating.
Burial will be at a later date at the Bay City Cemetery in Bay City.

John "Buster" Branigan, 73
John "Buster" Branigan, 73, of River Falls died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at the Kinnic Long Term Care Center.
He was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Milwaukee, the son of Ed and Mildred Branigan. He graduated from River Falls High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is retired from 3M Chemolite Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Barb; two sons: Mike and Pat and Deb Branigan, all of River Falls; one granddaughter, Hope; one brother, Bud and Marc; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private service was held Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Mann Valley Cemetery.
Nelson-Murphy Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Douglas D. Luepke, 34
Douglas D. Luepke, 34, of Glenwood City, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, in a motorcycle accident.
He was born July 24, 1965, in Menomonie, the son of Sherman and Donna (Maes) Luepke. He was raised in the Glenwood City area, where he graduated from high school in 1993.
He worked in construction since high school and the past several years for Opus Construction. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors. His smile, laugh and sense of humor will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman; his brother, Danny; his paternal grandparents, Anna and Herman Luepke; and his maternal grandfather, August Maes.
He is survived by one daughter, Amanda Peabody of Oshkosh; his mother, Donna and Dwight Reese of Cumberland; four sisters and two brothers: Sandy and Rodney Holldorf of River Falls, Cindy and Armon Hetzel of Downing, Deb and Jim Gese of Withrow, Minn., Duane and Ellice Reese of Cumberland, Lisa and Dan Smith of Glenwood City, and Jason Luepke of Tennessee; his grandmother: Rosella Maes of Glenwood City; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 30, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Glenwood City with the Rev. Ralph Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in the Glenwood City Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Everts Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 5-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Thursday.
Memorials are preferred.

Brandon "Brandy" Brenna, 28
Brandon "Brandy" Brenna, 28, of River Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis, the result of injuries sustained in a car accident that occurred on Friday, Sept. 24. He was a passenger in a company truck and traveling to a work site when the accident happened.
He was born Aug. 31, 1971, in River Falls, the son of Bob Brenna and Debbie (Erickson) Huppert. He graduated from River Falls High School in 1989.
He attended St. Cloud University and Winona State before moving to San Diego for 3 years where he worked for Doors Etc. and as a cabinet maker and remodeler.
He returned to River Falls last August and worked at Earthworks until his recent job with a roofing company.
Brandon loved painting, writing poetry, playing music with his friends and hiking in the woods by the Kinnickinnic River. People will remember him as an honest, kind and caring person - one who loved to be surrounded by family and friends.
As a tribute to Brandy's caring ways, many of his organs were donated and are now giving the gift of life to others.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Brenna, Sr.; and his step-grandfather, Myron Morrow.
Survivors include his mother and step-father: Debbie and Pat Huppert; a brother, Travis; a sister, Maggie; his father and step-mother: Bob and Ginny Brenna; his step-brother, Jeff Hesselman; his step-sister, Heidi Olson; his grandparents: Loretta Brenna, Paul and Helen Erickson, Romaine and Walter Cudd; his step-grandmothers: Peg Huppert and Betty Morrow; his aunts and uncles: Sandy (Erickson) McTie, Cathy and Matt Most, Theresa and Eugene Jonas, Wally and Mary Cudd, Mick and Louise Huppert, Tim and Linda Huppert, Lenny Brenna, Steve and Char Brenna, David Brenna, Jeff and Cheryl Brenna, Randy Brenna, and Tom Morrow; many cousins and friends.
Funeral was Monday, Oct. 4, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bill Montgomery officiating.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Travis Huppert, Jeff Levi, Brian Hanson, Ryan Brenna, Jason Schrank, and Pat Kealy.
Cashman Mortuary handled arrangements.

Duane C. Paulson, 77
Duane C. Paulson, 77, of River Falls, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Seymour, the son of Levi and Alma (Halvorson) Paulson. He was raised in the River Falls area and graduated from River Falls High School in 1939.
On May 13, 1950, he married Laurine Tresselt at the First Congregational Church of River Falls.
Duane's love of farming and raising cattle are reflected in one of his favorite pastimes: showing Angus cattle during the 1940s at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair in Chippewa Falls, the Minnesota State Fair, or several other county fairs.
He owned a 230-acre farm just north of River Falls where he raised a variety of feedlot cattle. That led to his becoming station manager for the St. Croix Valley Bull Testing Station for the past 16 years.
Duane was honored this past weekend with a dinner at the Coachman in Baldwin for his outstanding contributions to the beef industry. The honor was given by the Board of the Minnesota and Wisconsin Beef Improvement Association.
He is remembered for his smile, his sense of humor and telling stories about life's lessons of patience, tolerance and understanding others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Alma; and his brother, Leslie Paulson.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Laurine, of River Falls; his daughters, Phoebe and Lee Shourds of River Falls, Suzanne and Tom Sherry of River Falls, and Ila and Richard Holman of Baldwin; his son, Jeffrey Paulson of Chetek; six grandchildren: Adam Denn of Hastings, Minn., Cassandra and Levi Denn of River Falls, Jodie, Sarah and Krista Holman of Baldwin; nine step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials are preferred.
Nelson-Murphy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
