Joseph N. Hinderks, 67
Joseph N. Hinderks, 67, of River Falls died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at United Hospital, St. Paul, following complications from a bike accident.
He was a mainstay of the River Falls business district for many years at Friendly Drapery and Furniture, 107 N. Main St. He is a past member of the River Falls Park Board and was a friendly face on Main Street. He could be found visiting with people at Mel's, blowing the snow for the Main Street merchants, fishing the Kinni and sharing stories about his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Conrad Hinderks, who was killed in World War II.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; three children: Mary Jo and Galen Pechacek, Michael and Kari Hinderks, and Sara and Patrick Schmitz; seven grandchildren: Erin and Jennifer Pechacek, Brian and Jillian Hinderks, Kayla and Cassidy Yoch and Erica Jo Schmitz; sister: Louise and Arnold Lecheler of Arcadia, and sister-in-law Lois and Bob Lindell of South St. Paul; three nephews and three nieces.
A private family service was held in South St. Paul.
Memorials are preferred to the River Falls Public Library.
James T. Anderson, 73
James Theodore Anderson, 73, of Prescott died Aug. 18, 1999, at the River Falls Area Hospital.
He was born Sept. 1, 1925, in Minneapolis, the son of Theodore Victor and Revena Ada Anderson. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1943. He farmed most of his life in the town of Oak Grove.
He was married Feb. 10, 1951, in St. Paul, to Arlene Jeanette Larson. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, a lifetime member of the River Falls Sportsman's Club and a past member of the National Guard in River Falls. He was also a past 4-H leader.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Revena; and a sister, Jean.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; his sons: Ted and Joy of River Falls, Steve and Becky of Green Bay, Mark of Prescott, Peter and Karrie of Woodbury, Minn.; his daughters: Vicki Paul of Colby, Peggy and Scott Jensen of River Falls, Amy Anderson and Terry Beltrand of Princeton, Minn.; a brother, Darrell and Milda Anderson of Osceola; 19 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Saturday, Aug. 21, at St. John's United Church of Christ in the town of Oak Grove. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Monte Paul, Patrick Paul, Nicholas Anderson, Teddy Anderson, Jesse Jensen, Paul Jensen, Luke Jensen, Jim Anderson, Bryan Anderson, Tyler Anderson and Clayton Anderson.

Floyd B. Husfloen, 65,
Floyd B. Husfloen, 65, of Cumberland and formerly of Beldenville, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Cumberland Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Watertown, S.D., the son of Pearley and Tilda (Bergan) Husfloen.
He attended the Morton Corner School. He worked various jobs until opening his own radiator repair business. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier for 21 years.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the H.E.C.K. Card Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearley and Tilda.
He is survived by four children: Cindy and Clint Follansbee of Ellsworth, Brenda and Paul Peske of Circle Pines, Minn., Randy and Cheryl Husfloen of Ellsworth, and Lanie and Frank Goodwin of Hager City; his former wife, Mary Husfloen of Beldenville; and six grandchildren.
Funeral was Friday, Aug. 20, at the Hill-McLaughlin Funeral Home, with the Rev. Karna Baseman-Stark officiating.
Burial was in the Martell Lutheran Cemetery in Martell.
Patrick S. Gaynor, 38
Patrick S. Gaynor, 38, died as the result of an auto accident on Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, in Chicago, Minn.
He is survived by his wife, Leya; his children: Jonathan, Emily, Rachel and Anna; his parents: Dennis and Sara Lynn Gaynor of Superior; his grandmother, Erma Gaynor of Superior; his brothers: Timothy and Debbie Gaynor of Solon Springs, and Byron Gaynor of Superior; and his sister, Kelly and Kent Bergum of South Range.
Funeral was Monday, Sept. 6, at the River Falls United Methodist Church. Visitation was one hour prior to the service.

Floyd E. Weiss, 88
Floyd E. Weiss, 88, a resident of Croixview Apartments and recently the Christian Community Home in Hudson, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at the Hudson Medical Center in Hudson. He was admitted there Aug. 30.
He was born on Nov. 30, 1910, in River Falls, the son of Hugo and Clara (Nelson) Weiss. He attended the country school on the county line in River Falls and graduated from River Falls High School.
Throughout his working career he was an operator for heavy construction equipment for Caterpillar, Inc. He also farmed in the Roberts and surrounding areas, both crops and livestock.
He was never married. He enjoyed fishing, both for pan fish and walleyes. He will be remembered for his generosity and giving of himself to assist others.
He helped many with projects, providing rides for shopping or appointments. He is well-known for his Bible education works and the active role he took in his church, the Hudson congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Orval and Delbert.
He is survived by one sister, Joyce Schneider of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were Monday, Sept. 6, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Elder Howard Phillips officiating.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred.
Marie York, 85
Marie York, 85, of River Falls, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Cashman Mortuary.
Jeannette E. Brown, 87
Jeannette E. Benedict Brown, 87, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at Paradise Valley Hospital in Phoenix.
She was born July 25, 1912, in the town of Kinnickinnic, the daughter of Robert Frank and Mary Pearl Benedict. She married Edward H. Brown on Aug. 14, 1937.
In 1938 they left River Falls and moved to southern California. In 1987 they once again moved to Phoenix.
Jeannette, her husband, Edward, and daughter, Sharon, were known as the "Joyous Singers," serving the Lord in a gospel ministry.
Jeannette was gifted in making baby afghans and baby sweaters. She gave them away to families. She came to River Falls for a short visit and left some baby items to be given for new mothers and their babies at the River Falls Area Hospital.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Velloyce Joscelyn Brown; her parents, Robert Frank and Mary Pearl Benedict; and a sister, Virginia Niemann.
She is survived by her husband, Edward H. Brown; a daughter, Sharon V. Krukow; a son, Lowell F. Brown; and an adopted daughter, Lynnette Joscelyn Black; grandchildren: Brian, Ryan, Donald, Stacy and Kimberly Brown, Tara, Shianne and Rhiannon Black.
A memorial service was held at the Bell Gardens Assembly of God Church in Phoenix, with the Rev. Charley Hudspeth, the Rev. Phillip Sturgeon, the Rev. Mary Manning and the Rev. Jerry Manning officiating.
Her daughter, Sharon V. Krukow, sang "Whispering Hope" and brought a gift of love mentioned in the Bible verse John 14:1-6. Sharon felt her mother would have wanted to bring this gift from God to those she left behind.
A graveside service was held at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Charley Hudspeth.
