Loretta Steffenhagen, 76
Loretta Steffenhagen, 76, of River Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at The Lutheran Home: River Falls.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Green Bay.
Burial will be in the Fort Howard Cemetery in Green Bay. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials are preferred.

Frankie J. Weiss, 73
Frankie J. Weiss, 73 of Osceola died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999 at the Osceola Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 28, 1925 in River Falls, the daughter of Francis and Hazel (Edquist) Kelly.
She graduated from River Falls High School and attended UW-RF for one year.
On May 2, 1944 she married Sheldon A. Weiss in Madison. She and Sheldon owned the Big Lake Store. She was always a homemaker and outstanding mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading and music. She received special honors for her volunteering at her local hospital and church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her sons: Terry and Margie Weiss; Sheldon "Dean" and Kelley Weiss; her daughters: Carol and Don Gilbert; Jeannie Palmsteen; Wendy and Jody Videen; her sister: Connie Cudd; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday at the St. Joseph Church by Fr. Thomas Thompson. Music was provided by Diane Newman and Marie Weiss.
Interment was in the St. Mary Cemetery in Farmington.

Leonard L. Lewis, 71
Leonard Lyle Lewis, 71, of Turtle Lake, died suddenly on Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Cumberland.
He was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Hammond, the son of Lyle and Hattie Lewis. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. He attended school in Amery and Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1945.
He briefly attended college in River Falls before serving in the U.S. Army from 1946-1947. On May 28, 1949, he married Angeline Thomas at the Methodist church in Deer Park. He owned and operated Lewis Shoe Stores in Wisconsin Rapids, St. Croix Falls and Clear Lake and worked a short time for his parents in River Falls.
He then went on to work at Nor-Lake in Hudson for more than 24 years until his retirement. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, fishing, caring for his yard and home, using the computer and feeding the birds.
He was an active Mason with the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star of Clear Lake. He was also an active member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Hattie.
He is survived by his wife, Angie Lewis, of Turtle Lake; his son, Monte and Kay Lewis of New Richmond; his daughters: Annette and Tom Cox of Rice Lake and Terri and Michael Ruff of Almena; his grandchildren: Troy and Veronica Thompson of Baldwin, Chawn Lewis of Minneapolis, Bryan Lewis of Somerset, Michael Benck of Clear Lake, Tom Benck of Almena, and Cody Benck of Clear Lake; his great-grandchild, C'aira Thompson of Baldwin; and his sister, LaDonna Olson of Hudson.
Funeral was Tuesday, Dec. 29, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Clear Lake with the Rev. Troy A. Keeling and the Rev. Pat Drake, deacon, officiating. Martha Keeling was organist.
Honorary pallbearers were: Howard Bendixen, Orvin Hedquist, Winfred Johnson and Merle Wood.
Pallbearers were: Harold Christensen, Vern Engebretson, Wallace Lindholm, Frank Vreeland, Marshall Winegar, and John Wright, Jr.
Interment was in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.

JoAnne O. Jones, 63
JoAnne Ora Jones, 63, of Hudson, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at the Hudson Medical Center. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance earlier that morning.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1935, in Appleton, the daughter of Harvey and Ora (Zuehlke) Gygi. She attended elementary school and graduated from Appleton High School with honors in 1953. Following high school she attended college at UW-Superior. She graduated with honors, earning a degree in elementary and special education.
On Sept. 17, 1956, she married Donald R. Jones at the Methodist Church in Appleton. They had five children. Donald died in 1988.
She worked as an elementary school teacher for the school districts of Lac du Flambeau and Birchwood. Later she worked for Quorum Lanier in data entry and document coding.
She was very active in politics. She followed local and national politics very closely. She subscribed to the New York Times and read it faithfully. She enjoyed to read, especially world news articles on foreign cultures and governments.
She also enjoyed traveling and visited China, Russia and Egypt to see firsthand what those cultures and governments were like. She documented her life events and took many photos to accompany them. She filed these events and kept them organized.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald.
She is survived by her sons, Richard and Mary Jones of Elmwood, Randy and Renita Jones of Shakopee, and Tom and Lisa Jones of River Falls; her daughters, Jean Klisiewicz of Hudson, and Jan and Monty Turgeson of Hudson; nine grandchildren; her sisters, Gretchen and Susan of Appleton; and her niece, Sherry Kwas and family.
Memorial service was Monday, Jan. 4, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. The Rev. Thomas Nustad officiated.
Burial was in the Weyerhaeuser Cemetery in Weyerhaeuser. Memorials are preferred.

Louise H. Dahm, 87
Louise Harding Dahm, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at St. Benedict's Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
She was born April 3, 1911, in Hudson, the daughter of Harry and Gertrude (Gould) Harding. She graduated from Macalester College and began a career in social work.
She married Leo H. Dahm on June 2, 1945, and lived in Walker, Minn., until moving to St. Cloud in 1956. She taught at Cathedral High School for several years and then joined Catholic Charities as a social worker until her retirement.
She was a past president of Holy Angels Altar Society, American Association of University Women, Parents Anonymous, St. Stephen's Mission Group, past president of Sorosis Book Club, Friday Night Bridge Club, St. Cloud Hospital Volunteer and Library Board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, who died on June 7, 1985; and a sister, Helen Mary, who died in 1987.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou Olson of St. Cloud; a son, Peter H. Dahm of River Falls; and two grandsons.
Funeral was Wednesday, Jan. 6, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in St. Cloud.
Memorials are preferred.

Charles L. Nalley, Sr., 45
Charles Lewis Nalley, Sr., 45, of Hudson, died on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at his residence after battling cancer.
He was born Sept. 24, 1953, in Cambridge, Ohio, the son of Charles and Margaret (Porter) Nalley. He started his education and went through the 5th grade in Cambridge. The family moved to Phoenix, where he graduated from high school. He went on to receive his mechanic's degree at the Arizona Automotive Institute, graduating in 1973.
He worked in various auto mechanic shops in Phoenix before moving to Hudson in 1977. He worked in the Twin Cities, at Al's Transmission in Lakeland, Minn., and at the Hilltop Service Center in Hudson. At the time of his illness he was working for Total Gear and Drive Train in Hastings, Minn.
He enjoyed and took pride in himself and his knowledge and ability to work on automobiles and motorcycles.
He married Susan Coleman in Phoenix. They later divorced.
He then married Diane Valley on Feb. 14, 1996, in Hudson.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; his daughters: Shawnne and Gene Peckels of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Shannon and George Mikel of Hudson; his sons: Charles Nalley of Hudson and Lucas Nalley of St. Paul; stepdaughters Tonya Valley and Shannon and Tom Kor, both of St. Paul; grandson Chase J. Kor; brother and sisters: Carol Bradford, Melodie Acuna and Bill and Romona Gray, all of Phoenix; many nieces and nephews in Phoenix; sisters- and brothers-in-law: Butch, Max and Dan Valley and Sue Valley, all of St. Paul. He is also survived by many friends.
Funeral was Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson with the Rev. Joann Sorenson officiating. Eulogy was by Diane Nalley and vocalist was April Ashlin.
Burial was in the Willow River Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the family.

Lillian F. Brune, 90
Lillian Florence Brune, 90, of Hudson died at the Christian Community Home in Hudson on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998.
She was born in Waseca, Minn., the daughter of William and Minnie (Schippel) Trahma. She received her education in Waseca. She was a homemaker all her life.
She married Edward W. Brune on July 20, 1926, in Stillwater, Minn. He died in August of 1989.
She was an avid cook and enjoyed baking. She was an active volunteer and worked with many church activities at Methodist churches in Hudson and River Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents, William and Minnie; her daughter, Delores Fisher; four sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by her son, Howard and Carolyn Brune of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The O'Connell Family Funeral Home, Hudson, is handling arrangements.
