Nathan Jeffrey Halls, 22
Nathan Jeffrey Halls, 22, died Saturday, March 28, 1998 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Oct. 10, 1975, and attended elementary school in River Falls. He was a 1994 graduate of Flambeau High School in Tony. He also attended Mount Senario College in Ladysmith.
He will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Page.
He is survived by his father, Jeffrey Halls of Nordland, Wash.; his grandparents, Dale and Betty Halls of River Falls, Doug and Rae Page of Ladysmith, and Peggy Brewington of Cornell; aunts and uncles Cindy and Randy Ernst of Ladysmith, Linda Page of Minneapolis, Clint and Jackie Page of Conrath, Stuart Page of River Falls, and Shawn Page of Minneapolis; cousins Clayton Halls, Jack Halls, Sara Ernst and Jake Ernst, all of Ladysmith, Cindy (C.J.) Ritter of Minneapolis, and Madeline and Warren Page of River Falls; and many dear friends.
A celebration of life and gathering of loving family and friends will be held at Hope Lutheran Church of Ladysmith at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 2.
Viola D. Kanten, 81
Viola D. Kanten, 81, died Monday, March 2, 1998, at The Lutheran Home: River Falls, where she had lived since 1995.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m., at The Lutheran Home in River Falls. This is a change from where it was originally scheduled at the Nelson Funeral Home in River Falls.
Memorial donations in her name are requested to the Alzheimer's Association or to The Lutheran Home: River Falls.
Josephine Swenson, 89
Josephine Swenson, 89, of River Falls died Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
She was born Sept. 9, 1908, in Red Wing, Minn. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, Ezekiel Lutheran Church and the Kinnickinnic Ladies Aid of which she was a charter member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; one son, Duane; and one sister, Mary.
She is survived by one son, Eugene and Betty of River Falls; one daughter, Yvonne and Joe Jajtner of Oshkosh; one daughter-in-law, Jane Swenson of River Falls; one sister, Irma Nelson, of Red Wing; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be Friday, April 3, at 1:30 p.m., at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Bill Montgomery officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 2, from 4-8 p.m., at the Nelson Funeral Home, and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Eric Swenson, Donald Swenson, Roger Swenson, Gary Grimm, Jerry Nelson and Rodney Miller.
Interment will be at Rush River Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Martell.
Nelson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Robert G. Brenner, 75
Robert G. Brenner, 75, of Prescott died Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at his home.
He was born on Sept. 17, 1922, in Red Wing, Minn., the son of Reuben H. and Clara M. Brenner.
He was a 1940 graduate of Ellsworth High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 until 1946 in Europe.
He married Isabel "Ike" Pechacek on Oct. 28, 1961, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plum City. He worked for Cenex for 10 years and Swift & Company for 17 years. He retired as a custodian from the Prescott School District.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting and fishing. He was a member of VFW Post #9060, and the American Legion Post in Prescott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Clara.
Survivors include his wife, Isabel, of Prescott; his children: Pam Pechacek of Prescott, Renee Brenner of Prescott, Gail Brenner of Prescott, and Penny and Greg Brown of Hudson; one granddaughter, Courtney Brown; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, April 5, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prescott, with the Rev. Richard Durow officiating.
Interment of cremated remains will be in Pine Glen Cemetery at a later date.
Dorothy L. Anderson, 87
Dorothy L. Anderson, 87, died March 25, 1998 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.
She was born in Ayshire, Iowa, on Nov. 11, 1910, the daughter of Ralph and Fern Emily Hickman Darlington. She married John S. Anderson on Sept. 3, 1932, in Detroit. He died on Nov. 10, 1978.
She attended UW-River Falls. She was a homemaker and member of First Congregational Church of River Falls, the Plymouth Congregational Church of West Des Moines, Iowa, and the Eastern Star P.E.O. in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and two brothers.
She is survived by her children: Richard C. Anderson of Urbana, William F. Anderson of Westchester, Pa., John S. Anderson, Jr., of Georgetown, Mass., and Robert S. Anderson of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Friday, March 27, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana, with the Rev. Robert A. Mulligan officiating. Burial was to be in Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls.
Gladys M. Robinson, 81
Gladys M. Robinson, 81, of Maplewood, Minn., died on Saturday, April 4, 1998.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry.
She is survived by her children: Harriet Eiynck, Pat and Jerry Peterson and Mary Yunker; her grandchildren: David and Timothy Eiynck, Daryl Robinson, Ann and Ashley Yunker; great-grandchild, Triston Richert; a sister, Wilma Doolittle; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was to be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, at Community Baptist Church in Truman, Minn. Memorials may be directed to the family at 709 Dorland Rd., Maplewood, Minn., 55119.
Raymond W. Abrahamson Sr., 87
Raymond W. Abrahamson Sr., 87, of River Falls and formerly of Woodville and Wayzata, Minn., died Monday, April 20, 1998.
He was employed in the oil business for 42 years and was divisional manager of Continental Oil. He belonged to the local branches of the Masons and Shriners. He was a member of the Wayzata and Hudson Rotary Clubs, the American Saddlebred Association, and Wilson Lutheran Church in Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lysbeth Abrahamson; and a brother, Alfred and Margaret Abrahamson.
He is survived by his wife, Lucile Abrahamson of River Falls; a sister, Loise and John Morgan of Los Angeles; a son, Raymond W. and Ginny Abrahamson of Alexandria, Minn.; daughters, Diana Ensign and Debbie Klein of Stillwater, Minn.; 10 grandchildren: Tom and Sue Abrahamson of Chattanooga, Tenn., Colleen and Dan Norton of Apple Valley, Minn., Shannon and Scott Jungman of New Ulm, Minn., Kelly and Todd Schreuers of Maple Grove, Lynn Abrahamson of Shakopee, Minn., Kari Whitsitt of Edina, Minn., Kim Falco and Craig of Ketchem, Ind., Chuck Ensign and Tonya of Scottsdale, Ariz., Andrea Ensign and Eric Church of Santa Fe, N.M., and Brian Ensign of Stevens Point; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at Wilson Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Association or the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association.
Arrangements are being made by the Minnesota Cremation Society.
