Clarence T. Matzek, 81
Clarence Thomas Matzek, 81, of Hudson, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Verona; his children: David and Andrea Matzek, DyAnn and Roger Neumann, and Lynda Matzek; his sisters: Margaret, Lucille, Florence and Marcella; his brother: Vince; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Bridget Catholic Church.
Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

William F. Merriman, 84 Louise Merriman
William F. Merriman, 84, of Hayward died Dec. 31, 1999, at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee following a brief illness.
His wife of 58 years, Louise Thelaner Merriman, died Jan. 7, 2000 at the Mequon Care Center in Mequon.
The Merrimans are survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Jane and Jack Derr of West Bend and Carol and Skip Scwind of Hubertus; four grandchildren: Lynn Derr, Wende Prucha, William Scwind and Carrie Scwind; and one great-grandchild: Carson Prucha.
Mr. Merriman is survived by five siblings and their spouses: Everal and Donna Merriman, Max and Betty Merriman, Maxine and Laverne Buck, Monnie Merriman and Merlin and Bonnie Merriman; and a brother-in-law Gene Rudiger.
Private services will be held at Berndt Funeral Home in Hartford.
Stanley J. Heiberg, 83
Stanley John Heiberg, 83, of Amery and formerly of Hudson and Roberts, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000 at the St. Croix Valley Memorial Hospital in St. Croix Falls.
The son of Matthew and Ella (Tubbs) Heiberg, he was born on June 19, 1916, in Virginia, Minn. He attended elementary and high school in International Falls, Minn.
On Nov. 27, 1943, he married Mary B. Dennison in Chicago, Ill. They had six children.
In the early 1940s, Mr. Heiberg was drafted and served in the Army during World War II and in the Civilian Conservation Corp.
The couple lived in Chicago until 1949 when they moved to New Lisbon. They lived there until 1965, when they made Hudson their home. Following this, they lived in Roberts for an extended period of time.
Mr. Heiberg worked as truck driver for over 40 years for Glendenning Motor Ways. He enjoyed traveling to Florida, Texas, and especially to Kenosha or International Falls to visit family.
He also enjoyed fishing and cheering the Green Bay Packers to victory and could fix most anything. His greatest love, however, was spending time with his family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, who died Nov. 16, 1994; and his grandson Scott Heiberg.
Mr. Heiberg is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Patricia and Clayton Iverson of Amery, Kathleen and Ronald Grass of Hudson and Diane and Bruce Johnson of North Hudson; sons and daughters-in-law: Gary and LuAnn Heiberg of Kenosha, Stanley Jr. and Beverly Heiberg of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., and Glenn and Brenda Heiberg of River Falls; and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A private family visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to cremation.
Friends may gather in celebration of Mr. Heiberg's life 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Officiating is Pastor Gregg Heinsch.
Honorary casketbearers are Gary Heiberg Jr., Heath Heiberg, Cade Heiberg, Rick Erdman, Patrick Erdman, Jon Grass, Randy Grass and Scott Heiberg (in memory).
Music was provided by Cheryl Forester.
Private burial of cremated remains will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson.
Memorials are preferred.
Lyle W. Hanvelt, 79
Lyle Wayne Hanvelt, age 79, formerly of Spring Valley, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000 in Colfax at Area Nursing Home
He was born April 21, 1920, the son of Alvin and Eunice (Cole) Hanvelt in Spring Lake Township. He was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church and recently a member of Elmwood United Methodist Church.
He grew up near Olivet where he attended the Olivet school. He worked for Valley Dairy; then for Dolly Madison. Lyle delivered milk for many years in the Spring Valley and Elmwood areas and, in later years worked at the Spring Valley Golf Club.
On July 28, 1956, he married Bernice Brooke at Ono Methodist Church in Grange Hall. Lyle lived in Spring Valley until moving to Colfax.
He was a member of the Spring Valley Masons. He loved bowling and playing softball much of his adult life and loved to visit with others.
Mr. Hanvelt is survived by nephews: David (Sally) Hanvelt and Robert Hanvelt, both of Eau Claire; niece: Judy Sewell of Alaska; step-daughter: Dawn (Lyle) Brooke of Whitewater; step-grandsons: Kyle and Andrew Hunter; sisters-in-law: Elaine Noterman, Signe Larrieu and Della Larson, all of Spring Valley; brother-in law: Henry Larson of Spring Valley; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife: Bernice, who died in 1995; and brother: Lloyd, who died in 1978.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at Elmwood United Methodist Church in Elmwood. The Rev. Joel Certa-Werner will officiate.
Burial of cremated remains will be in Poplar Hill Cemetery, in Rock Elm Township.

Mae F. Reynolds, 90
Mae F. Reynolds, age 90, of Ellsworth, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Ellsworth Care Center.
She was born Nov. 6, 1909 in the town of Gilman, the daughter of John and Hilda (Tollefson) Wenum.
She married Wilbur Reynolds on Oct. 15, 1932 in Ellsworth. They farmed in Pierce County for many years. Mae worked for Smead Manufacturing for several years.
She enjoyed reading, baking, going for car rides, puzzles, dancing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Reynolds is survived by her son: Larry (LaVona) Reynolds of Bay City; daughter: Barbara (Bill Tronnier) Hoyer of Elmwood; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son: Jim; three brothers; and one sister.
Services were Sat., Jan. 8, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ellsworth, the Rev. Carol Peterson officiating.
Interment will be in Beldenville Cemetery.

Hartland W. Lubich, 83
Hartland William Lubich, age 83, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000 at United Hospital in St. Paul.
The son of William and Augusta Lubich, he was born Oct. 27, 1916 in the town of Kinnickinnic.
On April 12, 1939, he married Rhoda Daniel at St. Bridget Catholic Church in River Falls. To this union nine children were born.
Mr. Lubich farmed in the River Falls area and also worked for the River Falls Creamery, Twin City Milk Producers, UW-RF and most recently at the River Falls Township Recycling Center.
He is survived by his wife, Rhoda; nine children: Marcella (Jerome) Rodewald of River Falls, Ida (Steve) Feyereisen of Hudson, Barbara (Buck) Nielsen of Hammond, Julia Cernohous of Hudson, Kenneth (Joanne) Lubich of Verona, Daniel (Jean) Lubich of Marshall, Mo., Patricia Lubich of River Falls, Mark (Sherry) Lubich of Bay City, and Jerry (Cinda) Lubich of Litchfield, Ill.;30 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Ethel Kusilek, William Lubich, James Lubich, Frank Lubich, Roman Lubich and Vicky Schorn; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Ed Lubich; sister: Marie Schrank; son-in-law: Virgil Cernohous; and great-grandsons: Nicholas Stephen Feyereisen and Thomas Ryan Rodewald.
Visitation will be at Cashman's Mortuary on 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, and one hour prior to Mass at church.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 Thursday, Jan. 13, at St. Bridget Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Don Rodewald, Dean Rodewald, Dave Feyereisen, Phil Cernohous, Jason Lubich and Nathan Lubich

Linda Cram, 51
Linda Cram, age 51, of Wyoming, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, as the result of an auto accident.
She is survived by husband, Hank; daughters: Michelle, Christina and Jessica; sons: Tim, Paul, Joe and Isaiah; and her mother, Mabel Rohl.
Funeral service was held Sat., Jan. 8, at Emanuel Christian Center in Fridley, Minn.
Interment was in Scandinavian Cemetery in Forest Lake, Minn.
