Gisela Chastain
Town of Emery resident Gisela Chastain died Thursday, February 25, 1999, at the age of 64 while visiting her daughter in Plainfield.
Born December 11, 1934, in Hildeberg, Germany, to Wilhelm and Ella (Heck) Wirthmueller, she came to the US after her marriage to Raymond Chastain on January 17, 1951. The couple lived in Florida, then Milwaukee and in the Town of Emery after retirement in 1985.
A private family service was held at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips with Rev. Thomas Reiff officiating.
Mrs. Chastain is survived by her husband, Raymond Sr.; four sons: Raymond Jr. (Linda) and Jerry, both of Phillips; Jimmy (Darcy), Milwaukee; and Johnnie (Tammy), Oak Creek; two daughters, Debra (Mrs. Jim) Virga, Racine, and Holly Sampson, Plainfield; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kurt (Elga), Germany; and by three sisters, Lisa Wirthmueller, Ericka (Mrs. Otto) Goodflash and Helga (Mrs. Harland) Young, all of Milwaukee. She was predeceased by her parents and by two brothers.
Ruth Christoffersen
Former Ogema resident Ruth Eleanor Christoffersen died Saturday, February 27, 1999, at her home at the age of 89.
Born December 28, 1909, in Ogema to August and Jenny (Westberg) Swanson, she attended area schools and married Arne Christoffersen on July 31, 1930, in Bessemer, Michigan. A lifelong homemaker, she enjoyed crafts, flower gardening and visiting her grandchildren and friends. A member of Calvary Lutheran Church and its ladies aide, she also belonged to the Winter Homemakers group and birthday club.
The funeral was held Tuesday, March 2, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Draper with Pastor Brian Crocker officiating, with interment at the Draper Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Benoy, Michael Liesch, Steven Liesch, Randall Otto and Timothy Wilson.
Mrs. Christoffersen is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Donald) Liesch, Dresser, and Dona (Mrs. Harry) Wilson, Kaukauna; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice (Mrs. Roy) Nikkila, Ogema; and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arne, and by five brothers and three sisters.

Jeannette Havel
Town of Worcester resident Jeanette Havel died at her home on Thursday, February 25, 1999, at the age of 64.
Born December 10, 1934, in Elkhorn to Anton and Marie Havel, she spent her early life in Chicago and came to the Town of Worcester with her family in 1947. She graduated from Phillips High School in 1953, attended Stevens Point State College and the UW-Madison where she earned a bachelor of arts in 1957 and her master's in library science in 1958. Employed as a librarian in Milwaukee for many years prior to retirement in 1974 when she returned to Phillips, she was treasurer of the Price County Democratic Party and a member of the Phillips Regional Writers. In her free time she was an avid reader and loved nature, especially her garden.
At Ms. Havel's request, there will be no service. Memorial funds have been established for the Nature Conservancy and the Price County Humane Society.
Ms. Havel is survived by several cousins in Kansas, Washington and the Czech Republic. She was predeceased by her parents, an infant twin sister and by her dog, Wolfe IV.

Henry Raab
Former Kennan resident Henry Raab, Tomahawk, died Wednesday, Feburary 17, 1999, at the Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas, at the age of 82.
Born January 24, 1917,inDetroit, Michigan, to John and Kathleen Raab, he married Gladys Anderson in Catawba on June 15, 1946. He retired from Standard Oil Company in 1971, he was a former presdient of the Tomahawk Lions Club, a member of the Tomahawk Northwoods Carves, the Rio Grande Valley wodocarvers and hte National Associaton of Watch & Clock Collectors, Inc.
Mr. Raab is survived by his wife.
Joseph Senkarek
Former Phillips resident Joseph Senkarek, Owen, died Friday, February 20, 1999, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen at the age of 78.
Born February 9, 1921, in Phillips to Matthew and Jennie (Pasterik) Senkarek, he lived in Phillips until 1953 when he became a resident of the health care center.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 1, at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen with Rev. Father Al Jakubowski officiating, with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Withee.
Mr. Senkarek is survived by two sisters, Anna (Mrs. Lyle) Simpson, Stony Ford, California, and Jennie Cento, Sunland, California. He was predeceased by a brother, Matthew, in 1990.
Joann Skomaroske
Former Phillips resident Joann Marie Skomaroske died at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in Santa Rose, California, on Monday, February 22, 1999, at the age of 40.
Born in Phillips March 17, 1958, to Norman and Rebecca Skomaroske, she was a gemologist and owned and operated her own company in Santa Rosa. Active in the K-9 Companion program, she enjoyed spending time with her dog, Biggs, and gardening.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 28, at Saint John Lutheran Church in Phillips with Rev. Thomas Reiff officiating. Spring interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
Ms. Skomaroske is survived by her mother, Rebecca, Phillips; three brothers, Dennis (Kim), David (Eveline) and Robert (Tammy), all of Phillips; and by a sister, Laurie (Mrs. Gary) Robertson, Manhattan Beach, California. She was predeceased by her father, Norman.

Robert Brouillette
Phillips resident Robert Vernon Brouillette died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls at the age of 69.
Born July 15, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, to Albert and Ethel (Lesage) Brouillette, he married Charlene Hulsey on October 23, 1948, in Crown Point, Indiana. He spent most of his life in the Chicago area and worked at NL Industries there for over 24 years where he was first union president and then shop steward. After retirement in 1978, the couple moved to Phillips and belonged to Our Lady of the North Catholic Parish.
The funeral was held Tuesday, March 16, at St. Mary's Church with Father Clement Sobr officiating. Interment was at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Mr. Brouillette is survived by a son, Robert Christ, Kendalville, Indiana; three daughters: Donna (Mrs. Steve) Wyrzkowski and Michele Brouillette, both of Phillips, and Renee (Mrs. James) Lepore, Midlothian, Illinois; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald "Bud" (Joan), Broomfield, Colorado; and by three sisters, Eleanor Tadda, Owen; Jean (Mrs. Francis) "Whitey," Illinois; and Carol Ann "Tootsie" (Mrs. Leon) Deem, Beecher, Illinois. He was predeceased by his wife, Charlene, on February 18, 1994, and by a son, Dean, in 1957.
