Alice Kroon
Former Prentice resident Alice Celia Kroon, Friendship, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at the age of 89.
Born in Prentice on December 26, 1909, to Peter and Dicta Anderson, she was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Prentice and employed by Dr. McKinnon and then at Blong's Cafe. She married Ray Kroon on March 6, 1958, in Adams.
Graveside services were held at Hillside Cemetery in Ogema on Tuesday, March 16, with Reverend Timothy Schueler officiating.
Mrs. Kroon was predeceased by her husband, Ray, on August 30, 1988; two sisters, Mildred Anderson and Hazel Hoeff; and by six brothers, Clarence, Arthur, Oscar, Milton and two infant brothers.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Prentice, was in charge of the arrangements.

Beatrice Pearson
Town of Hackett resident Beatrice D. Pearson died at her home on Thursday, March 11, 1999, at the age of 77.
Born in Ottawa, Illinois, on April 6, 1921, to Irene and Jerome Heath, she attended area schools and graduated from Ottawa High School, moving to Phillips in 1970. Employed at American Family Insurance and later as a dispatcher for the Price County Sheriff's Department until retirement in 1986, she was a member of Our Lady of the North Catholic Parish, AARP, the Catholic Daughters, the Emery Homemakers, the Women of the Moose and its Ottawa, Illinois, Chapter.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 13, at St. Mary's Church with Father Clement Sobr celebrating the Funeral Mass. Spring interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Ms. Pearson is survived by a brother, Peter (Nancy), Phillips, and by two sisters, Kathleen Ostwald and Margaret (Mrs. Lonnie) Dunbar, both of Prentice. She was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and Jerome Jr., and by three sisters, Mary Holt, Irene Barr and Helen Ator.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, was in charge of the arrangements.

Viola Anderson
Lifelong Phillips resident Viola Esther Anderson died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at the Rib Lake Health Care Center at the age of 82.
Born October 9, 1916, in Phillips to Alvin and Delia (Peters) Tenut, she graduated from Phillips High School Class of 1934. She was employed as a waitress at the Crystal Café, at Niebauer and Cress greenhouses, all in Phillips, and owned and operated Vi Ann's Floral here for over 20 years. She was married to William Van Auken in 1939; he predeceased her in 1972. She then married Lyle Anderson in October 1947; he predeceased her in October 1971. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Phillips and its ladies aid.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, March 31, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Gary Lodholz officiating, with interment at Lakeside Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by two daughters, Vi Anne Van Auken, Wausau, and Renee (Mrs. William) Meier, Ogema; a son, William Van Auken, Fifield; two grandsons; a granddaughter; and by three brothers: Raymond (Diane), Minneapolis, Minnesota; Alvin (Ann), Phillips; and Norman (Florence), Illinois; and by a sister, Margarite (Mrs. Gilbert) Willans, Phillips. She was predeceased by four brothers, William, Harold, Ronald and Ralph, and by three sisters, Ruth, Alma and Blanche.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, was in charge of the arrangements.

Doug Anthony
Former Prentice resident Doug Anthony died March 25, 1999, at his home in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 80.
Born in Neillsville on January 2, 1919, to Hattie and Guy Anthony, he grew up on the family farm in Waupaca and served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Marie Hellisch of Marshfield in 1945 and the couple lived in Prentice for 23 years while he was employed as a salesman for the Marshfield Milling Company. He then represented Pacific Molasses for 16 years when the couple lived in Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield and they owned and operated Clinique in Marshfield for almost 10 years before retirement to Phoenix.
A memorial service will be scheduled.
Mr. Anthony is survived by his wife, Marie, and by four children: Camille Anthony Haney and Jill Anthony, both of Madison; Melanie Sleva, Wood Dale, Illinois; and Howard, Green Bay.
Memorials may be sent to the Melvin Laird Research Center in Marshfield.

Emily Bacholl
Lifelong Prentice area resident Emily Bacholl died at Memorial Hospital of Taylor County in Medford on Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at the age of 91.
Born in Medford on July 4, 1907, she married William Bacholl and the couple owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Prentice for many years until retirement. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Prentice.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 1, at 9 a.m. at St. John with Father Dismas Kalcic officiating. Interment will be at Prentice Cemetery. Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice after 6 p.m. Wednesday. The parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Mrs. Bacholl is survived by a son, Lester (Joyce), Prentice; a daughter, Corrine Birk, Milwaukee; and by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William, on July 5, 1992.

Edna Dahl
Ogema resident Edna Margaret Dahl died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Memorial Hospital of Taylor County in Medford in its long-term care unit at the age of 87.
Born December 17, 1911, in Elmore to Ulrich and Charlotte (Poehl) Kleineschay, she attended school in Wausau and Prentice, graduating from Prentice High School, then attended the Price County Normal School. She taught in rural Prentice schools for two years before marrying Carl Dahl in Prentice on June 16, 1935. A member of the First Lutheran Church of Ogema, its ladies aid and Martha Circle and a Sunday School teacher, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, in her free time.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Friday, March 26, at First Lutheran Church with Reverend Jerome Godson officiating, with inurnment at Hillside Cemetery, Ogema.
Mrs. Dahl is survived by a daughter, Midge (Mrs. Jim) Nehiba, Medford; a sister, Mable (Mrs. Fred) Knez, Phillips; and by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl, and by twin brothers, Friedrich and Hubert.
The Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home, Rib Lake, served the family.

Elizabeth Dunn
Lifelong Phillips resident Elaine Elizabeth Dunn died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls at the age of 82.
Born June 10, 1916, in the Town of Elk to Sanford and Ona (Beason) Hill, she attended area schools and married Aubry Dunn on October 22, 1938, in Phillips. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm and logged in the Town of Elk and were caretakers for the Reptal family in Phillips for many years prior to their retirement. She was a member of the Phillips Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, the Harmony Homemakers and a former 4-H leader.
The funeral service was held Saturday, March 27, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Bernard Stewart officiating, with interment at Lakeside Cemetery.
Mrs. Dunn is survived by a brother, Elwin "Bud" (Lois), Phillips; three sisters, Marie Penneau and Leona Palmer, both of Phillips, and Cloe Birdeau, Fairfield, Montana; and by two great-nephews, Donald "Ray" (Lois) and Edward (Melody) Riley, both of Phillips, and a great-niece, Charlotte Ziemke, Catawba, whom the couple raised. She was predeceased by her husband, Aubry, on June 5, 1989, and by six brothers and four sisters.
The Heindl Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
