Steinacker
Ann Steinacker, 93, of Sister Bay, and formerly of Park Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Scandia Village Care Center, Sister Bay.
Services were held Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Park Falls; Father Al Ebach officiating.
A parish prayer vigil was held Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Novitzke Funeral Home, Park Falls.
Burial was in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
She was born July 18, 1905, in Chicago, IL. Her parents were John and Theresa Oswald.
She grew up and attended school in Park Falls.
She married Clarence Steinacker Sept. 7, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1988.
The couple lived in Milwaukee until moving to Park Falls in 1967.
A homemaker, she was a member of the St. Anthony's Christian Women.
She is survived by a son, Clarence (Carol) Steinacker of Milwaukee; a daughter, Bernice (Dean) Shumway of Sister Bay; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Haasl of Washington; and by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Mary Steinacker and Sister Rose Oswald; and three brothers, Joe Oswald, Frank Oswald and Edward Oswald.
Cobb
Cameron James Cobb, 19 months, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at his home in Lakewood, WA.
Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Park Falls; Rev. Henry Boynton officiating.
Burial was in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
He was born July 2, 1997, in Germany. His parents are Randall and Tara (Smetak) Cobb.
He is survived by his parents; his maternal grandmother, Darlene (James) Johnson of Park Falls; his paternal grandmother, Nancy Cobb of Sutherlin, OR; his paternal grandfather, Dall Cobb of Sutherlin, OR; great-grandparents Ruth Brenner of Portland, OR, Ray (Jesse) Cobb of California, and Leon (Opal) Smetak, Larry (Marge) Johnson and Helen (Gary) Bader, all of Park Falls; his great-grandmother, Marion Stenehjem of Park Falls; and an aunt and two uncles.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Randy Smetak.
Gundersgaard
Lloyd E. Gundersgaard, 64, formerly of Park Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999.
Services were held Monday, Jan 18, at Luther Memorial Church, South St. Paul, MN.
He is survived by his father, Earl of Park Falls; two stepsons, George Strandmark and Thomas (Judy) Strandmark; a brother, Dale (Donna); two sisters, Judy Larson and Jean (David) Meyer; and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgette; his mother, Viola; and two stepsons, Robert and Richard Strandmark.
Larsen
Edith M. Larsen, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Willow Bay Elder Service, Plover.
Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at St. Bronislaus Catholic Church; Rev. Patrick Umberger officiating.
Burial was in the parish cemetery.
She was born Oct. 10, 1912, in Park Falls. Her parents were Joseph and Rosamond (Schienebeck) Corrigan.
She graduated from Park Falls High School.
She married Arnold Larsen Oct. 10, 1933, in Park Falls. He preceded her in death Dec. 14, 1995.
He was a high school teacher and coach.
They lived in Mellen, Mason and Fifield until moving to Owen in 1944.
They owned and operated the IGA store in Owen from 1948 to 1957.
They moved to Birnamwood, where they lived until 1995 when they moved to Plover.
She is survived by a son, John "Jack" (Ann) Larsen of Plover; two daughters, Rosemary (John) Young of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, and Patricia (David) Wolter of Gilman; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a twin sister; and four brothers.
Ratkowski
Henry J. "Hank" Ratkowski, 60, of Montreal, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at his home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Ironwood, MI; Rev. Darryl J. Pepin officiating.
The body will be cremated. Cremains will be buried in the spring at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Phillips.
He was born Feb. 17, 1938, in Hawkins. His parents were Walter and Florence (Pietrzhak) Ratkowski.
He attended school in Chicago, IL, and served in the U.S. Army.
He married Elizabeth Lacina July 10, 1957, in Phillips.
He was employed for 14 years as a sales manager at St. Corix Corp. in Park Falls. He then moved to Saxon, where he worked as a sales manager at Kodiak Corp. in Bessemer for several years. He then sold insurance for various companies for several years.
He was custodian at Salem Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ironwood until the time of his death.
He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church of Ironwood.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Roger (Toni) of Saxon, Douglas (Carolyn) of Saxon, Russell Sr. (Joy) of Gurney and Gary (Stephanie) of Colorado; a daughter, Penny Ratkowski of Saxon; 13 grandchildren; his mother, Florence Ratkowski of Park Falls; a brother, Robert Ratkowski of Park Falls; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; a son, Henry J. Jr. in 1957; a granddaughter, Alyssa Ratkowski in 1993; and by two brothers, Richard and Raymond Ratkowski.
Beechler
Edward W. Beechler, 83, of Butternut, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Immaculate Conception Church, Butternut; Father Linus Evers officiating.
A parish prayer vigil was held Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the Novitzke Funeral Home, Park Falls.
Burial was in St. Cecelia Cemetery, Butternut.
He was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Butternut. His parents were Donald and Mary (Combs) Beechler.
He grew up and attended school in Butternut and was a graduate of Butternut High School.
After high school, he worked in area Civilian Conservation Corps camps.
He moved to Chicago in 1933, where he was a tour bus driver and delivery truck driver.
He married Virginia Schreier Nov. 22, 1960, in Dubuque, IA.
The couple moved to Butternut. They were owners and operators of the Midway Bar and Restaurant. He operated a fishing guide service on the Flambeau River, semi-retiring in 1977, at which time he continued to guide and also worked at Hardee's restaurant in Park Falls.
He was a 4th degree knight and member of the Butternut Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Butternut Lions Club, where he served as president and as zone chairman.
He was very active in volunteer work with his church and in the community.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Kenneth (Linda) Beechler of Chicago, IL, from his first marriage; two daughters, Teresa (Rudy) Obsnuk of Chicago, and Ann Beechler of Onalaska; a son, Edward D. (Susan) Beechler of Kansas City, KS; six grandchildren; a brother, Earl Beechler of California; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and two brothers.
Fill
Edna (Morgan) Fill, 83, of Park Falls, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 18, at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, Park Falls; Rev. Loren Barker officiating.
Visitation is at the church today from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
Burial will be in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
She was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Phillips. Her parents were Walter and Minnie (Westphal) Schleife.
She grew up and attended school in Phillips.
She married Oliver "Skin" Morgan April 28, 1934. They owned and operated Morgan's Super Market, the Tots 'N' Teen Store and Morgan's Sportland in Park Falls. He preceded her in death Nov. 18, 1969.
She married Harold Fill Oct. 1, 1970. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by a son, David (Patrice) Morgan of Walker, IA; two step-sons, Gaylord (Sue) Fill of Lincolnshire, IL, and Robert (Aida) Fill of Racine; a step-daughter, Connie (Thomas) Jones of Waukesha; two sisters, Gladys Lutzke of Milwaukee and Laura Schleife of Phillips; a brother, Robert (Jean) Schleife of Eleva; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three sisters, Ruth, Edith and Elizabeth; and a brother, Gerald.
