Robert Frank Ruskavage
Robert Frank Ruskavage age 69 of Park Falls died Friday May 18, 2001 at the Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls. He was born June 11, 1931 in Rockford, IL the son of John & Anne (Poluyanskis) Ruskavage. His early life and schooling were in Rockford, IL. He then entered the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. He returned to Rockford and began a career as a chef in area restaurants. He married Fredrica Raabe on May 4, 1974 in Rockford, IL. The family moved to Park Falls, WI in 1980 where they were the owners and operators of the Mall Café until retiring in 1990.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 22, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. from the Novitzke Funeral Home Chapel Park Falls with Rev. Henry Boynton officiating. Military rites will follow under the auspices of the Park Falls American Legion and V.F.W. Posts.
Visitation will be held at the Novitzke Funeral Home in Park Falls on Monday May 21, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday May 22, 2001 from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Hazel Klein
Hazel Klein Age 92, died Tuesday May 22, 2001 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls. She was born on August 22, 1908 in Ishpeming, MI the daughter of James and Josephine (Rubens) Fisher. Hazel was a graduate of Ishpeming High School in 1927 and then went on to nursing school at Westlake Hospital in Melrose Park, IL. She graduated in 1930 as a registered nurse. On September 11, 1933 she married Wesley Klein in Wheaton, IL. The couple resided in Oak Park, IL until her husband retired in 1957, when they moved to the Park Falls area.
She is survived by:

Her sister Marge (Laurence) Johnson of Escanaba, MI
(4)grandchildren, (8) great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wesley in 1983, her daughter Betty Hackbarth, (2)brothers, (1)sister, and her granddaughter Marie (Hogue) Linsmeyer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 25, 2001 at 11:00am from the Novitzke Funeral Home in Park Falls. Rev. Henry Boynton will officiate.
Burial will follow at Nola Cemetery in Park Falls.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00am until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
James A. Wilkinson
James A. Wilkinson Age 49, of Fifield, died Sunday May 27, 2001. He was born on December 30, 1951, the son of James W. and Iola (Bergeson) Wilkinson in Independence, Iowa. He came to Fifield about 15 years ago and worked construction in the area.

Francis Baarley
Francis Baarley, 76, of Ellsworth, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at River Falls Area Hospital.
He was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Aurora, Ill., to Clark and Ida Baarley. At age 6, he moved to Red Wing, Minn.
He entered the 2nd grade at Ellsworth and graduated in 1941. He was on the basketball team which went to state in 1941. After graduation, he was employed with Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Wash.
He entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 15, 1943. He trained at Fort Hood, Camp Gruber, Fort Jackson and left for overseas from Camp Kilmer, N.J. On Feb. 12, 1945, while leading a patrol of seven men in Belgium, they stepped on a land mine.
"Ponsie," as he was called, was the only survivor, but as a result of this action both legs were amputated. After spending 13 months in Bushnell Veterans Hospital, he was discharged and returned to Ellsworth. He later enrolled at the University of Washington in a program to counsel amputees. He worked with the veterans in Seattle.
In 1950, he returned to Ellsworth and was employed for 12 years by Thom's Jewelry Store, learning to repair antique clocks. For the next 32 years, he did work for Swanson's Jewelry Store and started to rebuild player pianos and coin-operated machines. He married Dorothy Imhoff on Oct. 10, 1980.
He liked to travel and spend winters at their home in Pahrump, Nev. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Zor Temple and the American Legion Post #204. He will be remembered for his player piano music at the Round Barn at the Pierce County Fair.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Curtis.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two stepdaughters, Linda and Gerald Christiansen and Vicki and Dale Nelson; four step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
There was a memorial service at English Lutheran Church in Ellsworth on Friday, March 12. A private burial will be at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ellsworth.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice, English Lutheran Church or of your choice.
Robert A. Plahn, 52
Robert A. Plahn, 52, of River Falls, died unexpectedly Friday, March 12, 1999.
He was born in Janesville on July 2, 1946, to Robert G. and Harriet Plahn.
After graduating from high school he served 2 years in the U.S. Army. He then attended and graduated from UW-River Falls.
He was married on June 20, 1981, to Kerry Bergseng and they have two sons, Alex and Mason. He was a financial investor. He enjoyed canoeing on the Kinnickinnic River, watching and coaching his son's soccer games, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Kerry; his sons, Alex and Mason; his father-in-law Stan Bergseng; his sister-in-law Audrey Bergseng; and many close friends.
His remains were cremated. An informal gathering for family and friends was held at Rush River Lutheran Church one hour prior to the service.
A memorial service was held Monday, March 15, at 7 p.m. at the church with the Rev. John Sutherland and Intern Pastor Karna Baseman-Stark officiating.

Fannie S. Borgerson, 92
Fannie S. Borgerson, 92, of River Falls, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at the Kinnic Long Term Care facility.
She was born March 1, 1907, to Wilbert and Fannie Griffey in Fort Atkinson. Her family moved to River Falls, when she was very young and continued to farm east of town in the Fargo District.
She had four brothers: Alfred, Glen, Wilbert and Manley. She also had three sisters: Mildred, Emmeline and Ruth.
She married Rudolph A. Borgerson on Aug. 31, 1932. They had three sons: Roger, Wendell and Larry. They farmed on the Borgerson homestead east of River Falls on Hwy. 29.
She was best known for her friendly attitude and generosity. She loved gathering with friends and family. She took great pride in her reputation of being a great cook, baker, gardener, seamstress, wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; four brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth and Allen Swenson of Dover, Fla.; three sons: Roger and Sharon of Vancouver, Wash., Wendell and Annette of River Falls, and Larry and Sandy of River Falls; six grandchildren: Sean and Jenny Borgerson of Portland, Ore., Brent Borgerson of Vancouver, Wash., Nicole and Bob Borgerson-Burge of Baldwin, Danielle Borgerson of River Falls, Jenny Borgerson of Alexandria, Minn., and Brian Borgerson of River Falls; one step-granddaughter Kelly and Mark Vitas and their daughters Sophia and Mira, of Milwaukee; one great-grandson, David Borgerson-Burge; two sisters-in-law: Alpha Soli of Scottsdale, Ariz., and June Borgerson of Marshaltown, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral was Saturday, March 13, at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry McCann officiating. Internment was at the Greenwood Cemetery.

Rosalie M. Van Duren, 60
Rosalie Marguerite (Tobiassen) Van Duren, 60, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at United Hospital, St. Paul, after a brief hospitalization due to pneumonia.
She was born Oct. 28, 1938, in River Falls, to Stanley H. and Rose Virginia (Roehl) Tobiassen. She attended grade school at River Falls and graduated from high school in Elk River, Minn.
She married Kenneth D. Van Duren at Elk River in 1966. The marriage ended in divorce in 1997.
She owned and operated the Century 21-Van Duren Real Estate Agency in Prescott for many years. She retired in 1992 due to increasing debilitation from multiple sclerosis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Rose.
She is survived by her brother, Craig Bolivar; her aunts, Stella Tobiassen, Effie Tobiassen and Ruby (Roehl) Jankus; several cousins and her best friend, Sharon Berning.
A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. David Roberts on Sunday, March 21, at the United Church of Christ in Prescott, with 1 p.m. visitation, and a 2 p.m. service.
Private interment will be at the German Settlement Cemetery in Hudson.
