Guy E. Tyler, 36
Guy E. Tyler, 36, of Chippewa Falls and formerly of River Falls, died Monday, June 28, 1999, in Tunica, Miss.
He was born in Naples, Italy, on Aug. 26, 1962, the son of Jim and Sandra (Mills) Tyler. He graduated from River Falls High School and attended UW-River Falls.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Sandra; two sisters, Pam and Scott, and Patrice; three nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral was Friday, July 2, at St. Bridget Catholic Church.
Burial was in St. Bridget Cemetery.

Orville L. Troxel, Sr., 73
Orville "Orv" Leroy Troxel, Sr., 73, of River Falls and formerly of Prescott, died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at The Lutheran Home: River Falls.
He was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Warren County, Ind., the son of George Dewey and Sarah May (Hinton) Troxel. He attended school in the town of Rankin, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944-46.
He married Betty Dommer on Aug. 20, 1950, in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in the town of Waterbury, Minn. They lived in Illinois for 8 years following their marriage and then moved to Prescott in 1962. They have lived in River Falls since 1989.
He was employed as a lineman for Northern States Power Company, in the Red Rock Service Center in Newport, Minn. He retired in 1992, after 21 years of service with Northern States Power.
He is a past member of the Jaycees. He was a member of the Prescott Volunteer Fire Department and the Ezekiel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his cabin in the Minong area. He also loved to cook, both at home and for special functions for Northern States Power and for the Prescott Fire Department's pancake breakfasts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Harold "Dewey," Chuck, Donald and Leonard; and one sister, Gladys Sargent.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty, of River Falls; his daughter, Lois and Harold Hatzenbeller of Newport, Minn.; two sons: Orville "Orv" and Rhonda, Jr., of Rosemount, Minn., and Ken and Julie of Prescott; three brothers: Billy and Margaret Troxel of Danville, Ill., Robert and Meryna Troxel of Maderia Beach, Fla., and Ronald and Darlene Troxel of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; two sisters: Grace Farney of Rankin, Ill., and Linda Troxel of Worthington, Ohio; five grandchildren: Brandi Troxel, Ryan Hatzenbeller, Reid Troxel, Abbey Troxel and Holli Troxel; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Tuesday at the Nelson-Murphy Funeral Home and one hour before services at Ezekiel Lutheran Church.
Funeral was Wednesday morning at Ezekiel Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Kebschull officiating. Lois Michaelson was the organist and the Rev. Tinka Bloedow was the soloist.
Interment was in the Pine Glenn Cemetery in Prescott. The Prescott American Legion conducted military rites.

Elsie Smith, 88
Elsie Smith, 88, of River Falls died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at The Lutheran Home: River Falls.
She is survived by a niece, a nephew, and friends.
The funeral was held Thursday, July 1, at The Lutheran Home.
Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Eleanor Newcomb Kreuziger, 99
Eleanor Newcomb Kreuziger, 99, of River Falls died Monday, July 5, 1999, at The Lutheran Home: River Falls, where she has lived for the past 6 years.
She was born April 13, 1900, to Oril and Hortense Newcomb in River Falls. She attended River Falls Normal School for grades kindergarten through 8th and then completed a 3-year high school course. For 2 years she attended the teacher's college in River Falls and then went on to UW-Madison. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree in home economics.
She took several courses toward a master's degree at the University of Colorado-Boulder and the University of Minnesota. She worked as a dietitian in a Minneapolis hospital and returned to River Falls to work as a nursery school teacher. That experience led her to a permanent job teaching elementary school.
For 15 years she taught 1st grade and kindergarten until she married Otto Krueziger in 1952.
She was a lifelong member of First Congregational Church where her family was affiliated since the mid-1800s.
She was preceded in death by two infant siblings; a sister; and her husband, Otto Kreuziger, who died in 1976.
She is survived by her stepson, Vic and Pat Kreuziger of Edina, Minn., and their children: Laurie and Jeff; and a stepdaughter Dolores and Karl Schmitz of Florida and their children: Karl of Florida and Victoria of Milwaukee.
Funeral services are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, at Nelson-Murphy Funeral Home.
LuVerne J. Burke, 67
LuVerne John Burke, 67, of Baldwin and a former St. Croix County Sheriff and St. Croix County Board Supervisor, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999.
He was born March 25, 1931, in the town of Little Falls near Amery, the son of Chester and Viola (Emerson) Burke. He attended elementary school in Amery and graduated from Amery High School in 1949.
Following high school, he joined the U.S. Marines. He then began an apprenticeship in mortuary science to become a funeral director as his father had done. The Korean Conflict recalled him to the Marines in the early 1950s.
He was honorably discharged from the Marines and was employed at the Arsenal in New Brighton, Minn., where he met his first wife, Jodi Fjerstad. They were married in November of 1952 in Forest Lake, Minn., and made their home in Amery. She died on April 24, 1990.
In June of 1953, he joined the Hudson Police Department. On Sept. 6, 1956, he joined the St. Croix County Traffic Patrol where he attained the position of captain in 1961. He was selected as chief of police in Amery for 2 years following his service with St. Croix County.
Following this term, he accepted a position in sales for Kanis Ford in Baldwin. In 1978, he developed the Emergency Communications Department where he served as chief dispatcher. In 1981, he ran for position of St. Croix County Sheriff and was elected to two terms ending with his retirement in 1987.
He was also elected to serve as a St. Croix County Board Supervisor from 1994-96.
On Oct. 31, 1998, he married Jean Vandeberg in Balsam Lake. They lived in Baldwin.
He enjoyed spending time with his friends. He loved to golf, enjoyed fishing and especially traveling. He was a member of the American Legion Cave Dahl Post #240, Collins Masonic Lodge and the St. Croix Valley Shrine Club.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jodi; his sister, Betty; and his parents, Chester and Viola.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Baldwin; his sister, Mary and Pat Crawley of Hudson; his brother, Dave and Barb Burke of Danbury; step-daughters: Linda and Loren Rochester of Sun Prairie and their children Jessie, Tony and Laura, Mary and Larry Haugen of Duluth, Minn., and their children Grant, Curt and Laura and Ardy Marzhari; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 30, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Baldwin with the Rev. Matthew Glascow and the Rev. Ronald Stanley officiating.
The American flag was presented by the American Legion Post of Baldwin. Jan Hanson was the organist, accompanied by soloist Mark Willink.
Private burial will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson.
Memorials are preferred.
Harold K. Yates, 76
Harold Kenneth Yates, 76, of Elmwood, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at his home in the town of El Paso.
He was born Feb. 9, 1922, the son of Robert and Olga (Lindaas) Yates at Lake Benton, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Beldenville.
He entered the U.S. Army and served as a rifleman in France during WWII. He was a member of the Crain-Ottman American Legion Post #207 in Elmwood. On Feb. 9, 1946, he married Rosa Mae Hanson in St. Paul. They had three children: George, Kathryn and Debra.
He worked most of his life as a herdsman for local farmers. He worked for Jack Webb at Baldwin and for Sukowatey Farms from 1958-65. He then worked for Cassellius Farms from 1965-74 when he returned to Sukowatey Farms, where he was employed at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Olga; his wife, Rosa (Rosie); his step-father, Walter Sorenson; twin grandsons, Brian Michael and Brad Allan Duval; three brothers-in-law: Lloyd, Harry and Floyd Hanson; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Hanson.
He is survived by his children: George and Kathy Yates of Somerset, Kathryn and Jack Duval of New Richmond, and Debra and John Doran of White Bear Lake, Minn.; three sisters-in-law, Alice "Toots" Faber of Baldwin, Ruth Hanson of Baldwin, and Phyllis Hanson of Forest Lake, Minn.; one brother-in-law, Earl Hanson of Hudson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral was Friday, Jan. 29, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Sutherland officiating. Music was provided by organist Georgia Menk and vocalist the Rev. Richard Ulvilden.
Burial was in Baldwin Cemetery, Baldwin.
Pallbearers were: Tammy Yates, Scott Yates, April Duval, Karen Duval, Jill Duval, Michael Cloutier, Sharron Doran and Shannon Doran.
Audrey L. Phillipps, 71
Audrey L. Phillipps, 71, of Prescott died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at the River Falls Area Hospital.
She was born Feb. 25, 1927, in the town of Oak Grove, the daughter of Byron and Emma (Brooks) Corcoran. She graduated from Prescott Public School and Wisconsin State Teacher's College in River Falls.
She married Glenn (Bud) Phillipps on Aug. 10, 1948, in River Falls. They lived for a brief time in the town of Kinnickinnic before moving to the town of Oak Grove in 1954.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Emma; and one sister, Violet, who died in infancy.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn, of Prescott; four children: Randy and Deb Phillipps of Glenwood City, Sharon Phillipps, Sandra and Bob Lulloff of Chippewa Falls, and Terry Phillipps of Prescott; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was at Cashman Mortuary on Monday, Feb. 1. Funeral was Tuesday, Feb. 2, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prescott.
Interment was to be in the church cemetery.
