Dolores Marcott, 78
Dolores Marcott, 78, of Wilson, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home, Elmwood.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, with the Rev. Martin Wegner officiating.
Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Spring Valley.
Friends may call Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 5-8 p.m., at Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley.

Marie E. Jacques, 80
Marie Elizabeth Jacques, 80, the eldest daughter of William and Elizabeth Jacques of Prescott, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, in Livermore, Calif.
She was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Neillsville. She was raised in Prescott. She was a de-tasseling foreman, a teacher, a traveler and a great mother. She loved the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers.
She graduated from Prescott High School as the valedictorian and UW-Madison.
She is the sister of William, Jr., Jean, Patricia, George and Charles Jacques. She is the mother of Mike, Patricia and Teresa. She is the grandmother of Luca, Rae Marie and Cole.
A memorial celebration will be held at the Steamboat Inn, Prescott, from 4:30-7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, hosted by her children and family members. Family, friends and former students are welcome to attend.

Charlotte Karastes, 96
Charlotte Karastes, 96, of Woodville, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Park View home in Woodville.
Funeral was Monday, Nov. 16, at Zion Lutheran Church, Woodville, with the Rev. Ralph Thompson and the Rev. Carmen Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Woodville.

Ethel E. Herum, 94
Ethel Elizabeth (Corcoran) Herum, 94, of River Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, at The Lutheran Home: River Falls, where she had been a resident since July of 1997.
She was born Nov. 1, 1904, in River Falls, the daughter of William Patrick and Anna Bell (Carruthers) Corcoran. She began her education at the Glass Valley rural school and finished her 8th grade education at the Gertrude rural school. After graduation she was hired by various neighbors as a housekeeper.
She married Clarence Devine Herum on Oct. 15, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa. She and Clarence had six boys.
Clarence and Ethel moved to his parents' 80-acre farm in the town of Martell where they raised their family. She started working at Smead Manufacturing in 1947 and continued for a little more than 20 years.
They sold the farm and moved into River Falls in the fall of 1957. She lived there until 1987 when she moved into the new Moundview Apartments, now WelLHaven senior apartments. She then moved into The Lutheran Home in July of 1997.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna; her husband, Clarence, in 1963; two brothers: Charles and Wayne; three sisters: Jessie Griffey, Anna Lansing, and Edra Rouna; a son, Clayton, in 1984; and Clayton's wife, Mary Ann, in 1988.
She is survived by five sons: Merle and Pauline of rural River Falls, Vernon and Carole of Hendersonville, N.C., David and Delores of River Falls, Gary and Barbara of Dubuque, Iowa, and Eldon and Joan of River Falls; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Nelson-Murphy Funeral Home.
Funeral was Friday, Nov. 20, at First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth, with the Rev. Paul Martin officiating. Audrey Gilbertson was organist and Ed Holdorf was soloist.
Pallbearers were: Robert Herum, James Herum, Joel Herum, Timothy Herum, Michael Herum and Jeffrey Herum.
Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Hazel Nelson, 86
Hazel Nelson, 86, a long-time resident of the town of Kinnickinnic, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond. She was admitted to the care center on Nov. 8.
She was born Dec. 28, 1912, in St. Croix County, the daughter of Edward and Minerva (Phernetton) Jackman. She attended grade school and graduated from River Falls High School.
On April 2, 1934, she married Stanley C. Nelson and they lived in the town of Kinnickinnic for the majority of their marriage. Although they had no children of their own, they looked on their nieces and nephews as their children, opening their home to them and offering them permanent residence there from time to time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Minerva; an infant great-niece; and her husband, Stanley, who died in 1997.
She is survived by her sisters: Ruth Lulloff of Chippewa Falls and Eleanor and Floyd Blanchette of Danbury; her brother, Harold Jackman of River Falls; her nieces and nephews: John and Candy Bettendorf of River Falls, Steven Blanchette of Danbury, Pam and Steve Clemens of Danbury, Peggy and Rich Felipe of Woodbury, Minn., Lin and Sandy Blanchette of St. Paul, Jim and Joyce Jackman of River Falls, Julie and Richard Monson of Superior, John and Tammy Jackman of Stacy, Minn., Bonnie and Ronald Moe of Baldwin, Joan and Vern Kleinschmidt of Almena, and Robert and Sandra Lulloff of Chippewa Falls; 24 great-nieces and nephews; and eight great-great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial service was Saturday, Nov. 14, at Luther Memorial Church. Burial was in the Kinnickinnic Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred.

Thorild H. Nelson, 43
Thorild (Torri) Harriet Nelson, 43, of River Falls, died at her home on Saturday evening, Nov. 14, 1998.
She was born Aug. 23, 1955, in Stockholm, Sweden, the daughter of Paul and Siv (Jungenstam) Wigsten. She was raised in Landsort Pilot Station, where she went to elementary school and then moved to Sodertalje in 1968 and received her advanced degree in nursing as a registered nurse.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Sweden. She was a lieutenant in the Swedish Army Hospital Corp. She served twice in the Gulf War as a nurse and spent 6 years in Rhodesia.
She moved to America and came to River Falls on Sept. 28, 1994. She married James Nelson on Dec. 5, 1994, in Stillwater, Minn.
She is survived by her husband, James, of River Falls; her son, Joel Goranson of Stockholm, Sweden; her parents: Paul Wigsten and Siv Pettersson, both of Sweden; her brothers: John and Britt-Marie Wigsten and Nils and Christina Wigsten, both of Stockholm; three sisters: Solvig and Bo Liljegren, Ingrid Andersson and Asa Wigsten, all of Stockholm; step-sons: James and Jackie Nelson, II, of Stillwater, Minn., and Nathan Nelson of River Falls; two step-daughters: Jennifer and Jeff Ackerman of Burnsville, Minn., and Kristen and Gaylen Paulson of Chicago; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George J. and Elsie Nelson of River Falls; her brother-in-law, Robert and Penny Nelson of Ellsworth; three sisters-in-law: Jane and Jerry Schmidt of Ellsworth, Ann Dusek of River Falls and Ruth and Dave McWain of Cottage Grove, Minn.
Visitation was Monday, Nov. 16, at Nelson-Murphy Funeral Home and one hour before services on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Tinka Bloedow officiated and served as the vocal soloist. The organist was Carol Prince.
Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery in the town of Trenton.
Pallbearers were: Joel Goranson, James Nelson, II, Nathan Nelson, Gaylen Paulson, Kristen Paulson, Jennifer Ackerman and Jeff Ackerman.
Nelson-Murphy Funeral Home provided arrangements.

Rodney J. Olson, Jr., 27
Rodney J. Olson, Jr., (Jason), 27, formerly of Prescott, was killed Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, in a hunting accident near Durand. He has lived in Altoona for the past 5 years.
He was born Aug. 16, 1971, in LaCrosse, to Rodney J. and LaVonne L. Olson of Somerset. He attended River Falls High School. Krumenauer Builders of Eau Claire employed him as a carpenter. He was very active in hunting, fishing, and sports _ especially softball, where he played on three teams in Eau Claire.
He is survived by one brother, Shawn M. Olson, of Somerset; his fianc‚e, Teresa J. Richardson of Altoona; his grandparents: Norman and Betty Olson of Trempealeau, Henry Cordes of LaCresent, Minn., and Lorene Cordes of Hokah, Minn.; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Hill-McLaughlin Funeral Home in Prescott.
