Margaret Ann 'Peg' Tolzman, 52
Margaret Ann "Peg" Tolzman, 52, Amery, died Sept. 29, 1998, at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, Minn.
The daughter of Ernest Barr and Gladys Johnson Barr, she was born Oct. 11, 1945 in Hudson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Patrick's Church, Hudson.
She graduated from Hudson High School.
On Aug. 19, 1967 she married Donavon Tolzman. They had three children.
Mrs. Tolzman spent most of her life in Hudson but moved to Amery in July.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband: Donavon of Amery; her sons and daughters-in-law: Joe and Tammy Tolzman of Comstock and Ernie and Stephanie Tolzman of Roberts; her daughter: Amy Jo Tolzman of New Richmond; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Bernie and Corrine Barr of Danbury and Chuck and Audrey Barr of Webster; a sister and brother-in-law: Ann Marie and Jerry Bridges of Webster; and four grandchildren.
The funeral was held Oct. 3 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Amery with Fr. John Drummy and Deacon Bud Heiser officiating. Mark Meyer was vocalist.
Casketbearers were Vince Seidling, Darren and Larry Tolzman, Colin and Nic Peterson and Craig Lund.
Honorary casketbearers were Tom Tolzman, Rick and Tom Barr and Ed Flanum Jr.
Interment was in the Balsam Lake Cemetery.

Hope Joyce, 87
Hope Joyce, 87, of River Falls and formerly of Hammond, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at the River Falls Area Hospital.
She was born Oct. 15, 1911, the daughter of Thomas P. and Barbara (Mark) Joyce at Osage, Iowa. She graduated from River Falls High School and from the River Falls State Teacher's College, now UW-River Falls. She taught in a rural school in St. Croix County and in Viroqua, Villa Park, Ill., and Oconto Falls. She taught 3rd grade in Cumberland many years before retiring in 1969.
She made her home at the Golf View Apartments in Hammond for 23 years before moving to the Kinnic Long Term Care facility in May of 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Barbara; her sister, Ellen (Mrs. Mark) Kinney; and a nephew, Mark J. Kinney.
She is survived by her sister, Faith and Donald Conrad of River Falls; and by several nieces and nephews: Mary Ellen Coulson, Joyce Talsky, George Kinney, Paul Kinney, Thomas and Catherine Conrad.
Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Cashman Mortuary. The funeral was Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Bridget Catholic Church.
Burial was to be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hammond.
Cashman Mortuary handled arrangements.

Regena E. Zorn, 86
Regena E. Zorn, 86, of Brookfield and formerly of River Falls, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, in Brookfield.
She was born March 3, 1912, the daughter of Eugene Sullivan and Mary (Morris) Sullivan.
Funeral was Sunday, Oct. 18, at St. Bridget Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerald Harris and the Rev. Bill Sullivan co-officiating.
Burial was in St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the St. Bridget Catholic Church.

Ione E. Christenson, 82
Ione E. Christenson, 82, of Ellsworth, died on Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, at her home.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1916, in the town of Ellsworth, the daughter of Axel and Alice (Larson) Christenson. She attended Freier School and started her freshman year at Ellsworth High School.
Due to her mother's illness, she left school to help out at home. She did housework for the Waller and Oscar Halls families before marrying Leland C. Christenson on Nov. 25, 1938. She helped her husband with the duties of treasurer for the town of Ellsworth for many years. After her husband died in 1988, Ione became the town treasurer.
She enjoyed sewing, needlework, baking and most of all, her family. She was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Beldenville, as well as being church organist for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Axel and Alice; her husband, Leland; four grandchildren; two brothers: Raymond and Irwin; and a son-in-law, Gaylen Leonard.
She is survived by three daughters: Kay and Lemoine Baker of Ellsworth, Joan and George Lantz of Ellsworth and Ann Leonard of Ellsworth; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandson; one brother, Marvin Christenson of Ellsworth; two sisters: Florence Kline of Ellsworth and Clara Henry of Hot Springs Village, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Cora Christenson and Florence Christenson, both of Ellsworth.
Funeral was Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Sutherland and Intern Pastor Karna Baseman-Stark officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred.

Henrietta M. Hansen, 73
Henrietta M. Hansen, 73, of Prescott, died Oct. 13, 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Adolph and Henrietta Hanken; her husband, Vincent; her brothers: Ralph Hanken and Arvin Hanken; her grandchildren: John Kelly and Nicky Hansen.
She is survived by her children: Kathleen Kelly of Prescott, Ralph and Sandy Hansen of Prescott, Tom and Michele Hansen of Woodbury, Minn., Richard and Margy Hansen of Marshfield, Vincent and Johanna Hansen of Cottage Grove, Minn., Randy Hansen of Prescott, Shannon Hansen of Prescott; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her brothers: Raymond and Margaret Hanken of Prescott, and Bud and Joyce Hanken of Prescott; her sisters: Tillie Most of River Falls, and Mary Ann Bollman of Prescott.
Memorial services were Saturday, Oct. 17, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Prescott. Burial was in Pine Glen Cemetery in Prescott.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1048 Campbell St., Prescott, Wis., 54021.

Gagan, Marian A.
Jan. 11, 1908 - Nov. 2, 2001
JANESVILLE -- Marian A. Gagan, age 93, formerly of 211 Cornelia, died Fri., Nov. 2, 2001 at Heritage Square Health Care Facility in Greenfield, WI. She was born on Jan. 11, 1908 in Quincy, WI, the daughter of Bruce and Thurza (Blount) Avery. Marian married Joseph H. Gagan on Oct. 26, 1929 in Briggsville, WI. Joseph died June 2, 1976. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Home and School Association.
Survivors include 2 sons: Richard (Kathryn Ryan) Gagan of Union, OH, Robert Gagan of Santa Fe, NM; 9 grandchildren: Mary Bailen, Jean Hatcher, Ellen Wareham, Joan Gagan, Joe Gagan, Tim Gagan, Jon Gagan, Jenny Gagan-Vigil and Sherry Cucchiara; 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Tues., Nov. 6, 2001 at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH at 10:30 a.m. with Msgr. Ray Kertz presiding. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be at ST. MARY'S on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. Mary's Church or the charity of choice by the donor, would be appreciated by the family. Hansen Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Barbara Ritts, 47
Barbara Ritts, 47, creator and host of the popular River Falls area public access cooking show "Barb's Kitchen" died Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998, at the River Falls Area Hospital following a 4-year battle with melanoma.
Ritts was a native of Boulder, Colo. She earned a bachelor's degree in art at UW-River Falls in 1974. She was an accomplished pianist and singer, taught art and music for several years after college in Kenosha, and performed as a singer with the Florentine Opera in Milwaukee.
In 1995, Ritts produced "Barb's Kitchen," which became very popular in the River Falls and Hudson areas.
Several thousand people watched her show, which included guest appearances from local professors and chefs. She had a special recipe for meatloaf, which she called Magic Meatloaf, and it became a favorite recipe for many of her viewers.
She was a fun-loving person. She often did goofy things on her show, such as wearing goggles when cutting onions, and bringing a blow-torch on the set.
In addition to her husband Jim, Ritts is survived by a daughter, Alison of River Falls; her mother, Doris Pollock of River Falls; three sisters: Mary Jane Pollock and Nancy Pollock, both of River Falls, and Susan Pollock of St. Paul.
Funeral was Monday, Nov. 2, at Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Cashman Mortuary provided arrangements.

Lynette M. Meyer, 32
Lynette Marie Meyer, 32, of Baldwin, and formerly of Roberts, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at The Lutheran Home: River Falls, where she had resided for the past 2 weeks.
She was born Feb. 21, 1966, in St. Louis Park, Minn., the daughter of Steven Allen and Janice Irene (Stawicki) Meyer.
She lived in group homes in Wisconsin since she was 18 years old. Since April, 1988, she has lived in Baldwin. She loved playing with her beads and enjoyed swimming.
She is survived by her mother and step-father, Janice and Michael Hermerding of Roberts; her father and step-mother, Steven and Diana Meyer of Maple Grove, Minn.; her sister, Janica and Jeremy Cernohous of River Falls; her brother, Ross Meyer of Grand Rapids, Minn.; her grandparents: Marvin and Delores Hermerding of Duluth, Minn.; and two nieces: Stephanie and Trinity Cernohous.
Her body was cremated. Memorial services were held Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Murphy Funeral Home, Hudson, with the Rev. James Burd, pastor of the United Church of Christ Congregational Church, Roberts, officiating.
Betty Fyksen was organist. Visitation was one hour before the service.
