Bishop, Dorothy Ann Rusk Geddes

JANESVILLE/VIROQUA -- Dorothy Ann Rusk Geddes Bishop, age 76, died at her home in Janesville on Thurs., Oct. 25, 2001 after a long illness with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on Oct. 15, 1925 in DeSoto, WI to Seymour and Ruth (Powell) Rusk. She lived in West Salem, LaCrosse and Viroqua. On Aug. 12, 1945, she married Roy B. Geddes, Jr. They farmed in the Viroqua area until 1952 when they moved into Viroqua. Mr. Geddes died on Aug. 8, 1957. Dorothy then went to work and became an announcer and writer for WISV radio station in Viroqua where she was one of the original employees. She continued to work there until 1963. On July 15th, 1960, she married Paul Bishop. She had worked at St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse and Verex Assurance Corporation in Madison before her retirement due to failing health. Dorothy loved to sing and shared her talent at church, weddings, funerals and other events. She also was an excellent seamstress, a trait she inherited from her father and grandfather who always put family first. We will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; a son, Stephen Roy Geddes (Lynn) of Cincinnati, OH; a daughter, Vicki Nell Geddes Bouziane (Thomas) of Janesville; 4 grandchildren: Emil Geddes of Philadelphia, PA, Andrew Geddes of Cincinnati, OH, Alexander "Alex" Bouziane and Katharine "Katie" Bouziane, both of Janesville; her brothers and sisters: Louise McFarland (Daryl) of Algoma, IA, Ella Elaine Hall of LaCrosse, Harold Jerry Rusk (Cecelia) of Myrtle Creek, OR, Bonnie Lewis (Elwood) of Hebron, IN, Lawrence K. Rusk (Peggy) of Hayward, Donald Rusk (Gladys) of Kokomo, IN; her very dear sister-in-law and friend, Nellie Geddes Doerr of Janesville; 2 sisters-in-law, Ilda Geddes Zitzner of Viroqua, Iola Geddes Larson of Maysville, MO; a brother-in-law, Gerald Bishop (Doris) of Wildwood, FL; other relatives and special friends, Donna Hutter and Kathy Young. She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; a sister, Carol Rusk; a brother, Clarence "John" Rusk. A special thank you for the care provided by Hospice, Jeff Popp, Tammy Pence and Blanche Franke. Also thanks to the many friends from the Roxbury Church of Christ, Cedar Acres Adult Day Care, Mercy Adult Day Care, Alzheimer's Support Center, Peg Slaybeck and Fr. Del Klink for his prayers and gentle counseling.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m, Tues., Oct. 30, 2001 at the VIROQUA CHURCH OF CHRIST, with Pastor Ron Ahlgren officiating. Burial will be in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the THORSON FUNERAL HOME in Viroqua and at the church from noon until the time of service on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, The American Cancer Society or any charity of donor's choice.
Behrens, Gerald D.
March 2, 1933 - Oct. 18, 2001
ELKHORN -- Gerald D. Behrens, age 68, of County Road A, Elkhorn, died on Thurs., Oct. 18, 2001 at his residence. Jerry was born on March 2, 1933 in Gilbert, IL, the son of Herman and Clara (Rintz) Behrens. Jerry married Marie Schjoth on Jan. 26, 1990, in St. Charles, IL. Jerry owned and operated the Algonquin Glass Co. of Algonquin, IL for over 28 years, retiring in 1998. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Jerry was a member of the Algonquin American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; 5 children: Judy Sorenson of Algonquin, IL, Jerry Jr. and Beverly Harding, both of Crystal Lake, IL; Debbie Michaelis of Lake in the Hills, IL, and Barbara Taube of Holland, MI; 10 grandchildren; a brother and 5 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
Graveside services with military rites by the Elkhorn American Legion and VFW are to be held at 2 p.m., Sat., Oct. 20, 2001, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Tibbets, WI, with the Rev. Dr. Wallace Christen officiating. Arrangements were completed by Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home of Elkhorn, WI.
Blihovde, Donald M.
March 11, 1941 - Oct. 18, 2001
EDGERTON -- Donald M. Blihovde, age 60, died Thurs., Oct. 18, 2001 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on Mar. 11, 1941 in LaCrosse, the son of Morris and Evelyn (Larson) Blihovde, and he graduated from Cashton High School in 1959. Don was a Janesville resident for 35 years, and has been a Edgerton resident for the last 8 years. He married Arlene Weber on Oct. 29, 1960 in Middle Ridge, WI; she preceded him in death on May 20, 1990. He married Karen L. Rittenhouse on Aug. 13, 1994 at their farm in Edgerton. Don was employed by General Motors for 30 years retiring in May of 1989. He was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, UAW Local 95, a member of Wisconsin Harness Horse Assn., and Mule and Donkey Assn., winning the Pacer of the Year award in 1989, and runner up for Trotter of the Year in 1999. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, going to casinos, and listening to Country Music, especially George Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; father, Morris Blihovde of Cashton; 4 daughters: Ann Krause of Sun Prairie, Kathy Otis, Sandy (Shawn) McDonald both of Madison, and Barb (Gordy) Beyer of Holmen, WI; 6 grandchildren: Adam, Aubrie, and Alex Krause, Zachary and Jessica McDonald, and Seth Beyer; a brother, Gary (Julie) Blihovde of Janesville; a sister, Jeannie (Dave) LeDoux of Elgin, IL; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn; and first wife, Arlene.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 22, 2001 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Garchow officiating. Private interment will be in Middle Ridge, WI. Bickham, Ruth E. (Morrison)

DELAVAN -- Ruth E. Morrison Bickham, age 94, of 1025 S. Second St., died at Willowfield Nursing Home, Delavan on Oct. 23, 2001. Ruth was born on Aug. 31, 1907 in Louisiana, the daughter of Frank and Ruth Webster. She married Joseph Morrison in Louisiana; he predeceased her. She then married Elijah Bickham; he died in 1964. Ruth received her associate degree in Culinary Arts in 1933. For over 20 years, Ruth owned and operated Gladys's Chicken Shack in Delavan. She also had a barbequed ribs and chicken stand at the Walworth Co. Fair for over 30 years. She was an active member of the Delavan United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women. She will be fondly remembered for her warm, loving nature, her penchant for dressing beautifully, and her designer hats.
She is survived by her 3 sons: Frank (Paula) Morrison of Chicago, devoted son, Nord Morrison of Delavan, Albert (Dorothy) Morrison of Nashville, TN; a daughter, Neomi Morrison of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her 2 husbands, her best friend, Bill Sharp; 2 sons, Joseph and Charlie; 4 brothers and 12 sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Fri., Oct. 26, 2001, at the BETZER FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Cynthia Kristopiet officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, October 29. Memorials to the methodist church are welcomed. Betzer Funeral Home is serving the family.

JANESVILLE -- Brian J. Bishop, age 26, of 2107 N. Sumac Dr., died Tues., Oct. 16, 2001 at home. He was born on Dec. 19, 1974 in Janesville, the son of James and Sandra (Alderson) Bishop. Brian graduated from Craig High School, and served in the US Navy. He enjoyed reading, especially Native American History, writing, and poetry. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Sandy Bishop of Janesville; a brother, Darin (Angie) Bishop of Janesville; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Ruth Alderson of Janesville; a niece, Brittany; 2 nephews, Dylan and Jordan; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 19, 2001 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Garchow and Rev. David Ramel officiating. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Friends may call on Thursday, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and again on Friday, prior to the service, from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.
Brussat, Thelma W.
March 18, 1908 - Oct. 15, 2001
JANESVILLE -- Thelma W. Brussat, age 90, a resident of Cedar View Health Care Center, died there Mon., Oct. 15, 2001. One of seven children, Thelma was born in Elwood, IN on March 18, 1908, the daughter of George and Iva (Gross) Evans. Thelma graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in library science. She met her future husband Ray S. Brussat in Antigo, WI, when she was a librarian and he was a history teacher there. They were married in Elwood, IN on Aug. 23, 1933. They moved to Janesville in 1935 because her husband took a job as a social studies teacher and coach at the Janesville Junior High School and later transferred to the Janesville High School. They stayed in Janesville as his career took him from teacher to principal of Marshall Junior High School and eventually principal of Franklin Junior High School. Thelma worked at the Janesville Library, substituted at the Janesville High School Library and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Thelma had the first of her 3 daughters in 1934 and became a homemaker whose talents included making beautiful clothes and excellent pies. She continued being the family historian and researcher, always looking up facts in the dictionary or encyclopedia during many family discussions. She always claimed her proudest achievement was being the mother of 3 daughters.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Joan (Jerry) Cole of Wichita, KS, Nancy Brussat of Chicago, IL, and Karen (Jeff) Butler of Norwalk, CT; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; dear friends, Velma and Michael Burke of Janesville. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Kalavani Tessa Butler; 4 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sat., Nov. 10, 2001 at the CEDAR CREST CHAPEL, with Rev. Glenn Skatrud officiating. The family is being assisted by Whitcomb-Lynch-Overton Funeral Home.
Boutelle, Valerie Voss Ann
May 14, 1951 - Oct. 31, 2001
DELAVAN -- Valerie Voss Ann Boutelle, age 50, of 633 Bowers Blvd. died at her home on Wed., Oct. 31, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer. Valerie was born May 14, 1951 in Elkhorn, the daughter of James Voss and Beatrice Jackett. Valerie graduated from Delavan-Darien High School in 1969. She married Edward W. Boutelle July 8, 1972 in Delavan, WI, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Valerie graduated from Univ. of Wis-Whitewater with her bachelors degree in Elementary Education and received her masters degree from Nat. Louis University in Chicago. Valerie taught for 14 years at West Side Elementary School in Elkhorn as a 4th grade teacher. Valerie was active in her community, member of Jaycets of Delavan, Delavan Junior Women's Club, Wis. Education Assoc., and active in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Valerie was a loving mother and wife and enjoyed and loved the children she taught at Westside Elementary School.
Valerie is survived by her husband, Edward; 2 daughters, Courtney (Patrick) Peyer of Delavan, Hannah at home; a son, Jay (Miranda) of Madison, AFS daughter, Jessica Franzen of Stockholm Sweden, a brother, Charles (Marie) Voss of Rochester, NY. She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Nancy Voss McSweeney.
Funeral services will be at noon, Sat., Nov. 4, 2001 at OUR REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH, with the Rev. Robert P. Rickman officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9 am until service time Saturday. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery. Memorials to the University of WI Clinical Cancer Center or Our Redeemer Church School are appreciated. Betzer Funeral Home is serving the family.
