Services were held Monday, March 27, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church; Rev. Bob Pienta officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
He was born May 2, 1923, in Park Falls. His parents were Louis and Jenny (Holmes) Schutz.
He married Dorothy Ann Hanlon July 30, 1949, in Detroit, MI.
He served in the U.S. Army, 513 Regiment, 17th Airborne, as a paratrooper, making 13 jumps. He received the Purple Heart.
He earned his bachelor's degree at Ripon College, his master's if guidance counseling at the University of Michigan and his master's of science at Rennesslaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
He taught science at Brighton area schools for 42 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Father Leo J. McCann Council No. 7304 of the Knights of Columbus and Jesse B. Cooley American Legion Post No. 235.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Anne Zemke of Lakeland, MI, Mary Ellen Schutz of Madison and Barbara Schutzgruber of Ann Arbor, MI; a son, Lawrence Schutz of Hartland, MI; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by tow sisters; two brothers; a son, Michael L. Schutz in 1973; and a grandson.
Wall, William L. Wall, 85, of Green Bay, and formerly of Park Falls, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000.
A memorial service was held Friday, March 24, at Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere; Rev. Robert Laubenstein officiating.
He was born April 1, 1914, in Kansas City, MO. His parents were William and Geraldine (Braymer) Wall.
He grew up and attended school in Tulsa, OK.
He moved to Chicago, where he continued his education at Armour Institute and Northwestern University.
He married Dorothy Brune Dec. 10, 1936, in Chicago.
He was employed by Edward Hines Lumber Co. for over 40 years, which took him to many parts of Wisconsin, including Park Falls. He retired in 1979.
While in Park Falls, he served as president of the Park Falls Lions Club, was a member of the school board and served on the hospital board.
He was active with Boy Scouts and in community development.
He was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and watching the Chicago White Sox and Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Geraldine (John) Jirikovec of Green Bay; a son, Bill (Loretta) Wall of Holland, MI; three grandchldren; a sister, Gerre Lee McCarty of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Engeldinger
Harvey Peter Engeldinger, 66, of Park Falls, died suddenly Friday, April 21, 2000, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
Services were held Tuesday, April 25, at the Novitzke Funeral Home Chapel, Park Falls; Deacon Chet Ball officiating.
Burial was at Butternut Union Cemetery, with military rites under the auspices of Butternut American Legion Post No. 272.
He was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Park Falls. His parents were Alfred and Mary (Manderfled) Engeldinger.
He moved to Butternut at an early age and attended school there.
He moved back to Park Falls in 1951 and was employed at the Fifield Body Shop.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958.
After service, he returned to Park Falls. He was employed at St. Croix of Park Falls until semi-retirement in 1997.
He married Verna Andrus Oct. 2, 1965, in Park Falls.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mary Tallman of Phillips; two grandchildren; a sister, Marion Lind of Shoreview, MN; and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; a brother, Russell; and a sister, Adeline Richter.
Golomb
Nora C. Golomb, 82, of Butternut, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls.
Services were held Saturday, April 22, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Butternut; Rev. John A. Deitz officiating.
Burial was in Butternut Union Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Butternut and was a life-long resident of Butternut. Her parents were William and Augusta (Scherwinski) Hamann.
She was a graduate of Butternut High School.
She married Joseph Golomb May 25, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1987.
A homemaker, she worked for St. Croix Rod Company for over 25 years, and worked at several resorts on the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage.
She is survived by six children, James (Judy) Golomb and Margaret Golomb, both of Park Falls, Carol Myers of Sussex, Patricia Anderson of Oshkosh, Josephine (Irvin) Henriksen of Butte des Morts and John (Patt) Golomb of Butternut; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ida Klein of California; three brothers, William Hamann of Illinois, Walter (Edna) Hamann of Butternut and Ted Hamann of Park Falls; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter; a grandson; three sisters, Marie, Esther and Amanda; and three brothers, Otto, Art and Carl.
Lauer
John G. "Jack" Lauer, 81, of Northbrook, IL, died Sunday, April 16, 2000.
Services were held Wednesday, April 19, at St. Norbert Church, Northbrook.
Internment was in All Saints Cemetery.
His parents were Harry and Ann (Doyle) Lauer.
He worked for Illinois Bell for 40 years, retiring as a construction superintendent.
He lived in Northbrook for 52 years and served St. Norbert Parish as president of the Holy Name Society and head usher. He was active in fundraising for construction of a new church in the early 1960's.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary (David) Boettcher of Fifield, Kathleen (John) Trulson and Christina (Jeffrey) Paul; three sons, Dennis (Jean) Lauer, Terrence (Stepheny) Lauer and John (Marsha) Lauer; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeranne E. (Dwyer) Lauer; and a brother, Harry Lauer;
Neeck
Gerald "Farmer" Neeck, 72, of Park Falls, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Park Falls.
Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial of cremains will be in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
He was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Park Falls. His parents were Samuel and Amelia (Trudeau) Neeck.
He married Elizabeth "Betty" Herbst June 30, 1951, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Park Falls.
He was employed at Sam Neeck and Sons as a bricklayer.
He was a member of Dirrigl-Sawales American Legion Post No. 182 and Heisler-Mockler Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6903, both of Park Falls.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Marian (Wolfgang) Fluegge of Malente, Germany; two grandchildren; a brother, Herman (Shirley) Neeck of Park Falls; a sister, Virginia (John) Johnson of Phillips; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin sister, Geraldine Benedict; and two brothers, Leland and Samuel Neeck.
Nelson
Mary E. Nelson, 89, of Park Falls, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Flambeau Hospital Park Falls.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, April 27, at Pleasant Plain Cemetery near Chetek and Cameron; Pastor Keith Ruehlow officiating.
She was born Feb. 23, 1911, in Maple Grove Township near Chetek. Her parents were Eric and Hattie (Schaaf) Saastad.
She was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband, Oscar, before his death in 1979, and later with her brother, John Saastad, until his death.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
