A memorial service for Frances Niehoff will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Novitzke Funeral Home Chapel, Park Falls; Rev. Richard Madden officiating.
She died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls, at the age of 83.
Private burial was at Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
She was born June 11, 1916, in Billings, MT. Her parents were Derk and Ann Vanderlaan.
She married Jack Niehoff June 25, 1937, in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death in 1998.
The couple moved to Park Falls in 1983.
She is survived by three children, Marilyn (Richard) Madden of Pinetop, AZ, Jack (Nancy) Niehoff of Park Falls and Shirley (Robert) Levine of Tullahoma, TN; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ditchman of Evergreen Park, IL, and Nellie Ridderhoff of Tinly Park, IL; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and by two brothers.
Bablick
Genevieve "Genny" Bablick, 74, of Park Falls, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
Services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Park Falls; Father James Jackson and Deacon David Bablick officiating.
A Rosary service was held Friday, Jan. 7, at the church.
She was born July 1, 1925, in Butternut. Her parents were Edward and Gertrude (Kolman) Koran.
After graduation from Butternut High School, she was employed in the office at Butternut Veneer Mill.
She moved to Menomonie, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Carl V. Nelson Firestone stores.
She married Charles Bablick Aug. 27, 1946, in Butternut.
The couple lived in Menomonie until moving to Stanley in 1948 and to Park Falls in 1950.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Anthony's Christian Women and the ladies golf league.
She loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband; three children, Deacon David (Ginny) Bablick of Tomahawk, Dennis (Luann) Bablick of Butternut and Mary (Jerry) Sarver of Medford; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Constance (John) Leahy of West Allis, Katherine Koran of Shorewood and Gertrude "Trudy" (Joseph) Keegan of Carle Place, NY; and by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to the St. Anthony's Padua Center.
DuBeau
Sylvia DuBeau, 71, of Park Falls, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999.
She was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Chicago. Her parents were Harold and Ann Shallcross.
Before moving to Park Falls, she and her husband lived in Hayward for 12 years. While there, she worked with the Birkebeiner ski race.
She was the very loving wife of Arthur; mother of Authur Jr., Kurt, Jeff, James and Judy; and grandmother of 14. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Ann Zimmerman; and two brothers, Pat and Joe.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harold.
Herbst
Alfred F. "Toby" Herbst, 88, of Park Falls, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
Services were held Friday, Jan. 7, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Park Falls; Father James Jackson officiating.
A Rosary service, led by the Knights of Columbus, was held Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Novitzke Funeral Home, Park Falls.
Burial was in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
He was born Sept. 13, 1911, in Park Falls. His parents were Charles and Anna (Hilgart) Herbst. He was a life-long resident of Park Falls.
He married Loretta Ehmke June 2, 1956, in Aberdeen, SD.
He worked for Doerings at the Pike Lake Dam for 42 years, retiring when it was sold to the federal government.
He then helped his wife manage and care for the Flambeau Paper Mill Lodge for eight years.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife; two step-daughters, Sharon (Peter) Movrich of Elk Mound and Judith (Jerry) Hext of Phoenix, AZ; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Lawrence
Lillian M. Lawrence, 78, of Richland Center, and formerly of Park Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000.
Services were held Monday, Jan. 3, in Richland Center.
She was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Phillips. Her parents were Oscar and Mary (Kangas) Gustafson.
She graduated from Park Falls High School in 1939.
She married Charles E. Lawrence March 15, 1944, in Bakersfield, CA.
She was an active, long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Richland Center, a member of PEO Chapter R, a member of the Richland Hospital Auxiliary and a member of several other groups.
She is survived by her husband; four children, Julie (Vern) Morris of Janesville, Jim (Cindy) Lawrence of Random Lake, Tom (Pam) Lawrence of Richland Center and Robert (Barbara) Lawrence of Wausau; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; a brother, Arnold (Margaret) Gustafson of Park Falls; and two sisters, Lila (Charles) Walasek of Butternut and Lorraine Johnson of Coos Bay, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Oscar and Ernest Gustafson; and an infant sister, Barbara.
Steiner
Oliver "Ollie" Steiner, 89, of Easton, IL, and formerly of Park Falls, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, IL.
Services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, at Cain-Hurley Funeral Home, Mason City, IL; Rev. Robert Paddack officiating.
Burial was in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Pekin, IL.
He was born Oct. 26, 1910, in Park Falls. His parents were Louis and Ella (Amo) Steiner.
He loved sports, especially baseball. As a member of the pitching staff of a local team and also for the Lymantown Aces, he compiled winning records with his speed and abilities.
He is survived by a daughter, Cookie (Ron) Gilbertson of Park Falls; a granddaughter; a sister, Rita Cross of Marenisco, MI; a brother, Vernon (Bernice) Steiner of Northbrook, IL; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eula; a son, Bud; two brothers, Arnold and Wilfred; and a sister, Lorraine.
Weinberger
Adolph Weinberger, 84, of Butternut, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls.
Services were held Monday, Jan. 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Butternut; Father James Jackson officiating.
Burial was in St. Cecelia Cemetery, Butternut.
He was born Jan. 15, 1915, in Rib Lake. His parents were John and Anna (Ernst) Weinberger.
After the family moved from Rib Lake to Butternut, he attended Bruch School.
He married Lavone Fredrick June 7, 1939. They were married for 49 years. She preceded him in death in September 1988.
The newlyweds moved to the Fredrick homestead, where they operated a dairy farm and sawmill.
He also worked in logging camps, where he was well-loved as a jokester and all-around good fellow. He was proud of being head sawyer on many jobs.
He is survived by two sons, Bud (Carol nee Wagner) Weinberger and Ken (Jeanne nee Stangle) Weinberger, both of Butternut; six grandchildren; six great-grandsons; five brothers, Frank Weinberger and Bernie (Hattie) Weinberger, both of Butternut, Ed (Dorothy) Weinberger of Medford and Henry (Roseanne) Weinberger and Billy (Evelyn) Weinberger, both of Park Falls; two sisters, Rose Beatty of Racine and Hedy (Jim) Jirschele of Park Falls; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, John, Joe and George Weinberger; and two sisters, Mary Bruch and Ann Hoffman.
