Robert "Bob" J. Burish, age 77, of 17413 54th Ave., Chippewa Falls, Wis., town of Lafayette, died Saturday, Feb. 3, at his home.
Robert was born on June 12, 1923, in the town of Goetz the son of Edward and Anna (Rykal) Burish.
After graduation from Cadott High School, Bob worked in Milwaukee as a welder at Harnischfeger for two years before joining the U.S. Navy in March 1943. Bob served in the Navy until 1946, in Navy Intelligence in Australia. Bob married Phyllis Schuebel on June 29, 1948. After serving in the Navy, Bob return to the home farm, where he farmed until retiring in 1980.
Bob and Phyllis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 29, 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Chippewa Falls; five sons, Alan (Faye Schumacher), Bruce (Terry), Richard, Patrick (Kim), all of Cadott, and Larry (Marilyn) of Chippewa Falls; four daughters, Lynn (Daniel) Wundrow of Jim Falls, Joyce (Marty) Greye of Chippewa Falls, Cheri (Tony) Nimmo and Joanne (Jerome) Chapek, both of Cadott, and son-in-law Brent Franz of Chippewa Falls; 27 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Evelyn Knudson of Flint, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Rosella Burish of Milwaukee and Donna Burish of Peshtigo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was a godfather to nephews Blake and Timothy Schuebel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Patricia, in infancy, and Tammy Franz; and two brothers, Lloyd and Ben Burish.
He was a lifetime member and past president of the VFW and a 35-year member of the American Legion, past vice president of the NFO and a lifetime member of the St. Rose of Lima Parish.
Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he especially enjoyed playing schmeir and sheepshead. He had a great love for baseball and played international baseball in the Navy and for the Cadott Red Sox, Rainbow Gardens and Boyd. He was a great conversationalist and will be sadly missed by his many family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Thomas Crowley officiating. Spring burial will be at St. Rose Cemetery, town of Sigel.
Friends may call at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with an 8 p.m. rosary.
Donald Finder
Donald E. Finder, age 75, of Knapp, Wis., died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Myrtle Werth Hospital-Mayo Health System in Menomonie.
He was born May 29, 1925, in Menomonie, Wis., to Emil and Mamie (Behling) Finder. Don was raised in the town of Lucas and attended Sunnyside Country School and Dunn County Agriculture School.
He worked for several farmers in the area and hauled milk for the Knapp Creamery. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Don married Eileen Timm on March 1, 1949, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie. He hauled livestock for about 55 years, while also farming the town of Stanton.
Don was a member of the Wilson Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Matson-Miller American Legion Post 330 of Wilson for over 50 years and the Wisconsin Agri Hauler for over 50 years. He also belonged to the Wisconsin Horse and Mule Association. Don enjoyed deer hunting and his antique tractors.
Don is survived by three daughters and two sons, Shirley (Wayne) Rostamo of Knapp, Judy (Gene) Johnson of Menomonie, Ken (Pam) Finder of Knapp, Sharon (Don) Spielman of Woodville, Kevin Finder (special friend Mona Johnson) of Knapp; a son-in-law, George Post II of Wilson; 10 grandchildren; one sister and two brothers, Carol Stevens of Eau Claire, Lyle (Jackie) Finder of Menomonie, Jim (Deedee) Finder of Arizona and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eileen, on June 23, 1999; a daughter, Nona Post, on March 13, 2000, and a brother, Gordon, in March 1967.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Wilson Lutheran Church in Wilson, Wis., with Rev. John Mikkelson officiating. Burial will be in Teegarden Cemetery in the town of Lucas, Dunn County, Wisconsin, with military honors by the Marson-Miller American Legion Post 330. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Leone Heiss
Leone I. Heiss, 87, of Bloomer passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Bloomer Medical Center in Bloomer.
She was born in Meadow Township, Blue Earth County, Minn., on June 6, 1913, to Carl and Mary (Burr) Schull. She married Charles Heiss on March 1, 1945, in Reno, Nev. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomer.
She is survived by one brother, Lawrence (Ginger) Schull of Mapleton, Minn.; and one sister, Irene Luedtke of Evansville, Minn. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomer with Pastor Bruce Rimmereid officiating. Burial will be at Bloomer City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at the Schriver Funeral Chapel, Bloomer, and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Helen Kilde
Helen Bernice Kilde, 85, formerly of 810 E. Madison St., Eau Claire, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home. She was born in Eau Claire on May 30, 1915, to John and Ragna (Swenson) Kilde.
Helen graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1933. She worked for 37 years at Uniroyal, retiring from the Payroll Department in 1978.
She was a lifelong and very active member of First Lutheran Church. Helen taught religious education and volunteered as an office worker for many years and also actively participated in women's study groups.
She is survived by a brother, Rev. Paul (Marcella) Kilde of Eau Claire and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Rev. Clarence Kilde, Rev. John Kilde, Harold Kilde and Ralph Kilde.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call an hour prior to services Monday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.

Ruth Koenig
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. -- Ruth I. Koenig, 67, of Maplewood, Minn., died Tuesday, January 23, 2001.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eva Koenig; a sister, Elaine Edwards; and a brother James Koenig.
She is survived by brothers Larry (Bev) Koenig and Wallace (Esther) Parr; brother-in-law Lee Edwards; sister-in-law Avanell Koenig; and many special relatives and friends. She was dearly loved and will be missed by nieces and nephews Gary Edwards, Susan (Randy) Schill, Gail (Mike) Kinney, Debra (Jeff) Getty, Kathy Koenig and Brad Koenig. She was the very special great-aunt to Gena and Ryan Schill and Amanda and Samuel Getty.
The family wishes to thank Ruth's many doctors, nurses and hospice caregivers.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire for the immediate family.
The Cremation Society of Minnesota is handling arrangements.
Donald Whinnery
Donald E. Whinnery, age 73, of Menomonie, Wis., died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 2, 2001 at his home.
Donald Everett Whinnery was born July 31, 1927, in the town of Dunn, Dunn County, Wis., to Everett and Mabel (Thompson) Whinnery.
He married Mary Lou Schmutz on June 6, 1946, in Menomonie. Don farmed his entire life until retirement and also worked for 11 years delivering furl for Menomonie Farmers Union Co-op.
He dearly loved his wife of 55 years, his children and grandchildren. They will all miss him and his "long good-byes."
Don is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou of Menomonie; three daughters and two sons, Bonita (Mitch) Hayes of Sturgeon, Miss., Donna (Mike) Spath of Charlotte, N.C., Debbie (John) Canty of Woodbine, Md., Jeff (Joy) Whinnery of Colfax; his grandchildren, Logan, Max, Cody and Casey; one brother, Galen (Elaine) Whinnery of Menomonie; one nephew, Ronald (Marlene) Whinnery of Victoria, Minn.; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Everett Whinnery.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie, with Rev. Marilynn Rushton officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in the town of Dunn. The family will meet with friends from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Benjamin Keltner
SAND CREEK -- Benjamin J. Keltner, age 86, passed away Friday, April 13, 2001, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.
He was born May 22, 1914, in Ames, Iowa, to Benjamin and Emma (Selby) Keltner. He was a 1932 graduate of Ames High School and received a Dairy Plant Manager degree from Iowa State University. He married Eda Peterson February 5, 1938, in Ames, Iowa. He served in the Army for three years during WWII at Camp Roberts, California. After the war he came to Ladysmith to work as a fieldman and later moved to Sand Creek to manage the Falls Dairy.
He is survived by his wife, Eda, of Sand Creek; two sons, George of Sand Creek and James (Beverly) of Colfax; two grandchildren, Shawn (Erin) Keltner of Minneapolis and Scott Keltner of Mankato, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Byron, Henry and Ralph; one sister, Frances Garner.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 16, 2001, at 7 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with Rev. Barb Koch officiating. Interment will be in the Story County Memorial Gardens in Ames, Iowa on Wednesday. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Funeral Home.
