Lois A. Palecek, 63, of Elk Mound, and formerly of Park Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 18, at St. Joe's Catholic Church, Elk Mound; Rev. Henry Hoerburger officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joe's Cemetery, Elk Mound.
A parish rosary service was held Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Golden Funeral Home, Eau Claire.
She was born Aug. 16, 1936, in Park Falls. Her parents were Edward and Margaret (Dixon) Gelina.
She graduated from Park Falls High School, and from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Wausau.
She worked as a registered nurse in Park Falls.
She was a member of St. Joe's Parish, where she helped with various activities.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy (Don) Joyner of Elk Mound; two sons, Rick (Joy) Palecek of Elk Lake and Scott (Monica) Palecek of Chippewa Falls; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria (Jerry) Kralicek of Racine and Kathleen (Robert) LaVoie of Park Falls; a brother, Alfred (Shirley) Gelina of Park Falls; and by other relatives and friends.
Buchert
Phillip S. Buchert, 65, of Park Falls, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
A private service will be held at a later date.
He was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Genoa City. His parents were Walter and Vivian (Katzenberg) Buchert.
He grew up and attended school in Crystal Lake, IL.
He married Jacqueline Dermont June 16, 1961, in Crystal Lake.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was superintendent of the city of Crystal Lake, IL.
He and his wife moved to Park Falls in June of this year.
He is survived by his wife; four children, Jodi Buchert of Butternut and Gary Buchert, Kevin Buchert and Jeff (Theresa) Buchert, all of Park Falls; a sister, Sheila (Dan) Cox of Las Vegas, NV; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by an infant daughter, Kristen.
Cummings
Ronald C. Cummings, 54, of Butternut, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Novitzke Funeral Home, Park Falls; Rev. Loren Barker officiating.
The body was cremated.
He graduated from Appleton High School and from Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, WI. He completed his journeyman molders apprenticeship and later earned an associate degree in graphic arts.
He won a state of Wisconsin molders contest and won numerous awards for his work in drawing, stained glass, ceramics and photography. He enjoyed his work as a journeyman molder, printer, chemical resin technician and security guard and his hobbies in stained glass, photography, ceramics and woodworking and wood refinishing.
He fulfilled his dream to be a business owner with the purchase of Ron's Northern Pines Resort and Restaurant on Aug. 26, 1998. He worked on improving the resort, initiating many changes. He offered to open free of charge for organizations for meetings or club activities and especially enjoyed working with the DARE program and with Big Brothers/Big Sisters because of a special bond he felt for children and their welfare.
He considered his children and grandchildren his greatest accomplishment and took special pride in their uniqueness and talents. He felt blessed by having the love and support of his nieces, nephews and extended family members. He made a positive and lasting impression on all he met by refusing to heed gossip and rumors, always trying to see the good in others. When family or friends needed him they could count on him being there for them to the end. He cared about and valued his employees for their hard work, talent, support and for the friendships he shared with each of them, considering them his second family.
He was a member of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association and Wisconsin Tavern League and was a former Cub Scout leader.
In accordance with Ron's wish to make his life and death beneficial to others, he was an organ/tissue donor.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jonita; sons Kevin Michael and Jeffery John and special friend Dicia Ingles and family; daugher Kim Michelle (Bernard) Kunert; three grandchildren; his mother, Viola Cummings; a brother, Larry (Sue) Cummings; three sisters-in-law, Melanie Cummings, Margaret (James) Eggener and Ina (Wilbert) Johnson; a step-brother, David (Pat) Mueller; two step-sisters, Dawn (Byron) Bartel and Darlene (Al) Hagen; his mother-in-law, Loretta Lewandowski; special friends Evelyn and Glenn Heitzmann; and by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Melvin Cummings; a brother, Vern Cummings; a sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and Jim Domke; his father-in-law, Florian Lewandowski; and by a niece and nephew.
Fremming
Eldon L. Fremming, 73, of Park Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at his home.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Peace Lutheran Church, Park Falls; Rev. Stanley Bahn officiating.
He was born Jan. 1, 1926, in the town of Norrie in Marathon County. His parents were William and Hazel Fremming.
He was a graduate of Birnamwood High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during World War II and aboard the USNTS Farragut and USS Lycoming during the Korean Conflict.
He married Gladys Zwirchitz June 26, 1948, at St. Joseph's Church in Galloway.
He was a fireman for the city of Wausau for six years, then was appointed a state fire marshall for the Department of Justice, where he served for 23 years.
He was a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and served as a director of the IAAI for several years.
Following his retirement, he worked as the groundskeeper at Park Falls Country Club, where he was also a director. He also worked as a private investigator.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed golf, walking and playing cards and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Fay (Joe) Maschke of Merrill and Mary (Randy) Gay of Kendalia, TX; a grandson; a brother, Billy (Martha) Fremming of Wausau; a sister, Betty (Roger) Geurink of Schofield; and by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Murray
Marian G. (Riley) Murray, 81, formerly of Park Falls, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, in Green Bay.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 23, at St. Eugene's Catholic Church, Fox Point.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Gary) Thompson of Minneapolis, MN, and Mary (Mark) McMullen of Green Bay; four grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth (Donna) Riley of Santa Barbara, CA; and by nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; two sisters, Frances Kelsey and Dorothy Herman; and four brothers, Leonard, James, Ray and Jack Riley.
Schwert
Dorothy Schwert, 75, of Pulaski, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, in Green Bay.
Services were held Friday, Nov. 19, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Butternut; Rev. Jeff Dolbratz officiating.
Burial was in Butternut Union Cemetery.
She was born March 27, 1924. Her parents were Levi and Ella Lenuson.
She married Clarence Schwert March 15, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1996.
She is survived by a daugher, Sue (David) Killinger of Pulaski; a grandson; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and an infant son, Daniel.
Kempf
Lawrence L. "Cherry" Kempf, 83, of Glidden, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Most Precious Blood Cemetery, Glidden; Rev. Michael Paholke officiating.
He was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Glidden; and was a life-long resident of Glidden. His parents were Christopher and Anna (Voght) Kempf.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He married Shirley McClaire Jan. 23, 1946.
He was owner and operator of Kempf's Mobil Service Station in Glidden for 30 years.
He was a member of the Glidden Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts, a cashier and past grand marshall of the Glidden Community Fair and was active in community government.
He is survived by his wife; six children, Larry (Kathryn) Kempf and Tom Kempf, both of Burlington, Mark (Bobbie) Kempf of Schaumburg, IL, Barney (Mary) Kempf of Oshkosh, Shelley (Rich) Hamilton of Glidden and Lisa Kempf of Pewaukee; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Eineichner of Glidden and Ella Milewski of South Milwaukee; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by nine brothers and sisters.
