Ruth A. Kurtz, 69, of Lac du Flambeau, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 2, at Pine Forest Lodge, Pike Lake.
She was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Milwaukee. Her parents were Carl and Gladys (Reynolds) Geigler.
After graduating from high school, she received her bachelors degree in teaching from Wisconsin State College in 1953. She received her registered nurse degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 1975.
She married Rueben William Kurtz May 29, 1954, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 1988.
She moved to Pike Lake in 1996.
She was a pilot and member of the Civil Air Patrol in Milwaukee. She was a member of the Pikette's, the Pike Lake Association and the Pike Lake Book Club.
She is survived by two children, Darrel (Shelley) Kurtz of Madison and Cheryl (Teresa) Smith of Milwaukee; two grandchildren; a sister, Carlarae Dobratz of Egg Harbor; a step-sister, Vivian Mangelsdorf of Milwaukee; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Helen Geigler; her husband; two brothers, Edward and James Geigler; and a half-brother, Ivan Babbitt.
Memorials may be made to the Pike Lake First Responders.
DuLong
Allen D. DuLong, 45, of Schofield, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, in the town of Plover.
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 30, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weston; Rev Daniel Farley officiating.
He was born Oct. 8, 1954, in Hibbing, MN. His parents were Charles DuLong and the late Audrey Anderson.
He married Diane M. Schrader Sept. 26, 1993, at Oak Island Park in Wausau.
He was a supervisor at Eastbay.
He served with the seabees in the U.S. Navy.
He loved spending quality time with his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Travis; a daughter, McKayla; his father; a sister, Marion (Gary) Cotton of Cedar, MN; his father- and mother-in-law, Ed and Trudy Schrader of Park Falls; a brother-in-law, Michael (Jean) Schrader of Chicago; a sister-in-law, Lauri Schrader of Park Falls; special in-laws Jan Reimer and Peter Stuhr, both of Schofield; and special friends Lori and Tom Collins.
Rathsack
Sterling (Mike) L. Rathsack of Butternut died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, in the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
CmSgt. (retired) Rathsack served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the U.S. Army Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of military service.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 300 of Park Falls.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan M. (Tenpas) Rathsack; a daughter, Lynn C. (Jack) Gerlach of Butternut; a son, Sterling L. Rathsack Jr. of Superior; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Upton, Florence W. Upton, 55, of Wyoming, MN, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999.
A memorial service was held Friday, Dec. 3, at Washburn McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids, MN; Rev. James Donald of Faith Lutheran Church officiating.
She was born Aug. 28, 1944, in Memphis, TN.
She was employed as a closing assistant for Burnet Title Company for the last three years, following a career with International Paper and Weyerhauser Corp.
She is survived by her husband, George; a son, Neal; her mother, Mary Wilson Tucker of Memphis, TN; a brother, Neil Tucker of Memphis; and three sisters, Mary Beth Tucker of Memphis, Virginia Watters of Mobile, AL, and Cornelia Shannon of Rush Center, KS.
Brusch
Robert "Ike" Brusch, 34, of Springstead, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Ascension Lutheran Church, Minocqua.
He was born Aug. 4, 1965. His parents were Donald L. and Ora Mae (Calnon) Brusch.
He worked in construction and automotive repair.
He loved hunting, fishing and trapping.
He is survived by three brothers, Tom (Susan) Brusch of Galena, IL, Dan (Sandra) Brusch of New Berlin and Don (Carolyn) Brusch of Arbor Vitae; three sisters, Donna Marvel of Illinois, Terrey (Richard) Botruff of Elkhart, IN, and JoAnn (James) Strobush of Willmington, NC; and by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Heisler
Joseph Heisler, 92, of Park Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 16, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Park Falls; Rev. Henry Boynton officiating.
Visitation is at the church today from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
Burial will be in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
He was born Jan. 8, 1907, in Austria. His parents were Frank and Mary (Malach) Heisler.
He grew up and attended school in Lugerville and in Park Falls. He graduated from high school in Park Falls.
He married Dorothy Black Sept. 11, 1933. She preceded him in death.
He was a bookkeeper/accountant for Rabenowich Department Store in Park Falls for many years and later worked for the Flambeau Milling Company in Phillips and Rabenowich Mens Store in Park Falls. He also worked for Koshak Construction in Park Falls and Northern Hardwoods Veneer in Butternut.
He was very active at First Congregational Church in Park Falls, where he served as treasurer from 1938 to 1955. He was a junior deacon and then a lifetime senior deacon. He also taught Sunday school at the church.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary (Ted) Kulp of Chalfont, PA; a granddaughter; two sisters, Mary Koenig of Eugene, OR, and Lydia (Adrian) DeVriend of Hayward; a brother, Emil of Park Falls; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and four brothers, Frank Jr., Bohmil, Edward and Oswald Heisler.
Memorials may be made to the Congregational Church Memorial Fund.
Steinhagen
William O. Steinhagen, 83, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at The Clairemont Nursing Home, Eau Claire.
Private internment was held at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.
He was born Oct. 12, 1916, in Milwaukee.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Mary Ann (William) Schreiner; two step-sons, Donald (Betty) Boeck and Roger (Barbara) Boeck of Park Falls; a step-daughter, Arlene (John) Heiden; Mildred's children, Arlene (Donald) Ocker of Fifield, Gary Kukla and Patrick Williams; and by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; his parents; and three brothers.
Storm
Albert L. Storm, 89, of Butternut, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls.
A private memorial service was held.
He was born March 12, 1910, in Jump River. His parents were Ole and Fanny (Warner) Storm.
He grew up and attended school in Jump River.
He married Imogene Gilreath Dec. 4, 1937. She preceded him in death.
The couple moved to Butternut in 1938.
He was a truck driver until his retirement in the late 1960s.
He is survived by a daughter, Rose (Harold Jr.) Herbst of Butternut; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Lucky Louise Linsmeyer; and a grandson, Freddie Linsmeyer.
