Bernard Joseph Anthony Esberner, 63, of Butternut, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, as the result of an accident.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, July 15, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Butternut; Father James Jackson officiating.
A parish prayer vigil service was held Wednesday, July 14, at the Novitzke Funeral Home, Park Falls.
Burial will be in St. Cecelia Cemetery, Butternut.
He was born March 4, 1936, in Chicago, IL. His parents were Bernard and Charlotte (Forystek) Kozlowski.
He grew up and attended school in Chicago.
He married Constance Morys April 27, 1957.
He worked for the Chicago-Milwaukee Railroad for 10 years and was also owner/operator of Bernie's Place in Chicago.
He moved to Park Falls with his family in 1972 and worked for the USDA Forest Service.
He was owner/operator of Maple Grove Tavern in Butternut.
He is survived by his wife; five children, Edward (Catherine) Esberner of Butternut, Daniel (Laurie) Esberner of Park Falls, Laurita (Ray) Trimble of Butternut, Steven Esberner of Butternut and Scott (Donna) Esberner of Butternut; six grandchildren; a brother, Eugene (Linda) Kozlowski of Chicago; three sisters, Carolyn Bamesberger of Milwaukee, Florence of Illinois and Kathryn Kozlowski of Illinois; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Albert Esberner; and a sister, Wanda.
Hoppe
Clara B. Hoppe, 97, of Park Falls, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls.
Services were held Wednesday, July 14, at First Congregational Church, Park Falls; Rev. Henry Boynton officiating.
An Order of the Eastern Star service was held Tuesday, July 13, at the Novitzke Funeral Home, Park Falls.
Burial was in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
She was born Oct. 20, 1901, in Nebagamon. Her parents were Helmer and Marie (Thompson) Peterson.
She attended elementary school in Mason, then moved with her family to Park Falls in 1914. She graduated from Park Falls Lincoln High School in 1920.
She was then employed as a cashier at Rabenowich Department Store in Park Falls.
She married Ervin C. Hoppe Sept. 5, 1924, in Bessemer, MI. He preceded her in death in 1979.
The couple owned and operated Hoppe's Market in Butternut for 33 years.
A homemaker, she was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Women's Christian Fellowship of First Congregational Church in Park Falls.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Hoppe of Park Falls; two sons, John (Corinne) Hoppe of Butternut and William (Jane) Hoppe of Rhinelander; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Henry, Harold and Martin Peterson.
Rast
Gladys L. Rast, 68, of Glidden, died Monday, July 5, 1999, as the result of an automobile accident near Trego.
Services were held Thursday, July 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Glidden; Rev. Michael Paholke officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Glidden.
She was born July 30, 1930, in the town of Shanagolden. Her parents were Harry and Olga (Polzine) Swanson.
She grew up and attended school in Glidden.
She graduated from Ashland County Normal teaching college in 1950.
She married Glenwood Rast June 19, 1950. He preceded her in death in May 1998.
She received a bachelor's degree in 1969 from the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Superior.
She was an elementary school teacher in Morse and then in the Glidden School District for 29 years, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of the Glidden American Legion Auxiliary, a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a parade marshall in the Glidden 4th of July parade, and served on the board of education.
She enjoyed knitting, painting, rug making, cooking, crocheting, gardening, crafting and photography.
She is survived by a son, Gary (SuAnn) Rast of Almond, a granddaughter; her mother, Olga Swanson of Park Falls; two sisters, Gloria (Arthur) Fleischfresser of Butternut and Lorraine Brooks of Menomonie; a brother, Harry (Beverly) Swanson of Glidden; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; a brother, Howard Swanson; and a sister, Clara Hanson.
Bodoh
Gordon L. Bodoh, 75, of Park Falls, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
Services were held Monday, July 26, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Park Falls.
A Knights of Columbus prayer service was held Sunday, July 25, at the church.
Burial was Tuesday, July 27, at St. Charles Cemetery, Fond du Lac, with graveside services offered by Father Carr.
He was born July 13, 1924, in Fond du Lac. His parents were Urvie and Gladys (Warner) Bodoh.
He grew up and attended school in Fond du Lac and attended pre-med school in Toronto, Canada.
He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II and later joined the National Guard, serving during the Berlin Crisis.
After service in the Army, he returned to Fond du Lac and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He married Irene M. Longest March 21, 1946, in Fond du Lac. They later divorced.
He married Rosemary Fletcher April 21, 1979, in Oshkosh.
He lived in Oshkosh and worked for Central Construction before starting his own firm, Bodoh Construction Co.
He moved to Park Falls in 1966.
He worked for C.R. Meyer Construction Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a very active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Park Falls and was a 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, the 40 et 8 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was very active in local government. He was chairman of the town of Eisenstein and was vice chairman of the Price County Board of Supervisors.
He is survived by his wife; five children, Karen (Glenn) Hudack of Cadott, Jene Bodoh of Oshkosh, James (Susan) Bodoh of Butternut, Jack (Linda) Bodoh of Park Falls and Barbie (Bob) Seifert of Woodruff; three step-children, Ron (Sandy) Fletcher of Phoenix, AZ, Jacqueline Gehrke of Oshkosh and Mark Fletcher of Oshkosh; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Gayle (Arlene) Bodoh of Neshkoro; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bruce Bodoh; a grandson, Bruce-Jene Bodoh; and two brothers, Gene and Scotty Bodoh.
DeMars
Irene J. DeMars, 79, of Slinger, and formerly of Park Falls, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999.
Services were held Saturday, July 24, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Slinger; Father Robert J. Bales officiating.
Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Slinger.
She was born April 8, 1920, in Park Falls. Her parents were Michael and Mary (Wudi) Kundinger.
She grew up and attended school in Park Falls and was a 1939 graduate of Park Falls Lincoln High School.
She atttended Price County Normal School and the University of Oshkosh and received her bachelors degree in teaching.
She married David A. DeMars Aug. 7, 1943, in Park Falls.
She taught elementary school in Park Falls for eight years, then taught at Slinger Elementery School until her retirement in 1985.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Society, the Washington County Teachers Association and the Wisconsin Education Association.
She is survived by her husband; six children, David (Linda) DeMars of Sauk Rapids, MN, Joan (Timothy) Rohleder of Green Bay, Jean (Peter) Asp of Sullivan, Daniel DeMars, Paul (Kim) DeMars and Anna Gaustad, all of Slinger; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Art Kundinger of West Allis; a sister, Adeline Timmer of Rockford, IL; a brother-in-law, Ed Hilgart of Park Falls; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary; a brother; and five sisters.
Flood
Donald W. Flood, 69, and Lois G. Flood, 66, of Mosinee, and formerly of Springstead, died Saturday, July 17, 1999, as the result of a motorcycle accident in Ironwood Township in Michigan.
Services were held Sunday, July 25, at Congregational United Church of Christ, Evansville; Pastor Janice Diefenthaler and Pastor Randy Krause officiating.
Services were also held Tuesday, July 27, at United Methodist Church, Mosinee; Pastor Timothy Bruce Jones and Rev. Richard A. Hartlerode officiating.
Donald was born Dec. 19, 1929, in Albany Township in Wisconsin. His parents were William and Alice (Thickpenny) Flood.
He attended school in rural Albany and served in the U.S. Army as a medical technician at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco, CA. He served from Dec. 30, 1946, until July 11, 1948. He was honorably discharged as a corporal and recieved the World War II Victory Medal.
Lois was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Brooklyn Township in Wisconsin. Her parents were Otto and Mata (Golz) Gransee.
She graduated from Evansville High School in 1950 and attended Madison Business College.
They were married Oct. 13, 1951, at United Methodist Church, Evansville.
They both worked for Neuendorf Transportation Company in Madison for many years.
They owned and operated DL Resort in Springstead from 1978 to 1988.
They were former members of Peace Methodist Church in Evansville and United Methodist Church in Albany, and were formerly members of snowmobile clubs in Springstead and Mosinee.
They were members of United Methodist Church in Mosinee and were members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Honda Riders Club of America, Recyclists Motorcycle Club, Inc. and the American Truck Historical Society.
They are survived by three sons, Michael (Gaylene) Flood of Albany, Stephen (Barb Patterson) Flood of Evansville and Kevin (Elizabeth) Flood of Albany; eight grandchildren; his mother; his four brothers and sisters, Howard "Mike" Flood of Evansville, Dorothy Kitelinger of Beloit, Willie (Joan) Flood of Albany and Walter (Gloria) Flood of Monticello; her brother, Harold (Evelyn) Gansee of Evansville; her sister, Geri "Jenny" (Jim) Knapp of Evansville; and her brother-in-law, Orrie Krause of Brooklyn.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Robert Flood.

Baum
Sylvia E. Baum, 84, of Jupiter, FL, and formerly of Park Falls, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Salerno Bay Manor, Jupiter.
She was born Sept. 1, 1914, in Park Falls. Her parents were Earl E. and Bertha (Paylle) Meeks.
She grew up and attended school in Park Falls and graduated from Park Falls High School.
After graduation, she moved to Ontonagon, MI, where she was employed by a lumber camp.
She eventually moved to Milwaukee, where she was employed as a lens grinder for Milwaukee Tool & Die.
She married William Baum Jan. 23, 1965, in Waukegan, IL.
They lived in Zion, IL, until retiring to Stuart, FL, where they had lived for the past 20 years.
She enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle.
She is survived by four step-daughters, Shirley (Red) Noyes of Glendale, AZ, Bonnie Mihevc of Waukegan, IL, Mary Ann Brown of Las Vegas, NV, and Sharon Bittner of Anchorage, AK; a brother, Joseph (Sally) Meeks of Park Falls; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Meeks of Enum Claw, WA; an aunt; and by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Binks Schlais and Ruth Brunner; and two brothers, Jim and Lloyd Meeks.
