Clara A. Meindl-Busch, 92, of Park Falls, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls.
Services were held Wednesday, April 21, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Park Falls; Father Al Ebach officiating.
Burial was in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
She was born March 23, 1907, in Butternut. Her parents were George and Petronella (Smola) Meindl.
She grew up and attended school in Butternut and went on to receive a bachelor's degree in education from Superior State University.
She married Edward Busch June 15, 1960, in Ashland. He preceded her in death in 1979.
She was a life-long resident of the Park Falls and Butternut areas and taught school for 40 years, retiring from the Butternut School District in 1967.
She was a member of the Butternut American Legion Auxiliary and the retired teachers association and was a choir member at both St. Anthony's and Immaculate Conception Catholic Churches.
She is survived by three sisters, Laura Meindl of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Helen (Ed) Bruch of Minneapolis, MN, and Bernice Watland of Park Falls; a brother, Elmer Meindl of Forest Lake, MN; a sister-in-law, Adeline Meindl of Green Bay; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Leona Greer; and by four brothers, George, Walter, Albert and Herbert Meindl.
Nelson
Mildred Nelson, 85, of Holcombe, died Saturday, April 10, 1999.
She was born and raised in Park Falls. Her parents were Sheldon and Fern Holy.
She is survived by a son; two daughters; grandchildren; and a sister, Isabel Burhans of Park Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; four sisters; and a brother.
Internment was in Holcombe Cemetery.
Nutting
Olive "Babe" Nutting, 85, of Park Falls, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Flambeau Hospital, Park Falls.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Peace Lutheran Church, Park Falls; Pastor Stanley Bahn officiating.
Burial was in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
She was born Feb. 8, 1914.
She married Robert L. Nutting Aug. 4, 1933.
She is survived by three daughters, Doris "Bing" (Bud) Lucas and Betty (Walter) Hilgart, both of Park Falls, and Judy Malach of Spokane, WA; a brother, James (Avis) McKuen of Park Falls; a sister, Gladys Behreandt of Park Falls; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and by nieces, nephews, other realtives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Viola Mussatti; and three brothers, John, Ronald and Leonard McKuen.
Pohl
John "Junior" Pohl, 73, of Glidden, died Friday, April 16, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
He had been hospitalized following an automobile crash which took his beloved wife, Verna, whom he will now be with.
Services were held Wednesday, April 21, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, Glidden; Father Ed Hussli officiating.
A parish prayer vigil was held Tuesday, April 20, at the church.
Burial was in Most Precious Blood Cemetery, Glidden.
He was born July 17, 1925. His parents were Joseph and Cecile (Eineichner) Pohl.
He was a life-long resident of Glidden.
He married Verna J. Fischer May 24, 1947, in Park Falls.
He was a logger, worked road construction, worked for Ashland County, and later worked at the Flambeau Mill, from where he retired.
The couple served as hosts at Lake Namekagon Campground in Cable since 1989.
He loved camping, fishing, hunting and the outdoors.
He is survived by a son, Randy (Marion) Pohl of Glidden; three daughters, Teri (Roger) BeBeau of Glidden, Janis (Nicholas) Straetz of Presque Isle, ME, and Carla (Jerry) Crom of Glidden; nine grandchildren, Joseph and Kimberly Pohl, Brian and Todd BeBeau, Melissa, Nathan and Jason Straetz, and Kelly and Amy Crom; and by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his dear wife, Verna; and the family dog, Elmo, who also died as a result of the car crash.
Glick
Rev. W. Myron Glick, 84, of Whitewater, pastor of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Park Falls from 1964 to 1979, died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at Fairhaven Retirement Commmunity, Whitewater.
Services were held Friday, April 23, at United Church of Christ, Delevan; Rev. Max Rigert officiating.
Burial was in Rochester Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 15, 1914, in Findlay, OH. His parents were Harry H. and Mabel Terwilliger Glick.
He married Lucinda Kigar June 25, 1939,in Colton, OH.
He was a graduate of Findlay High School, the University of Findlay and Oberlin School of Theology.
He was pastor of United Church of Christ parishes, beginning in Colton, OH, in 1938. He served in Nekoosa from 1951 to 1958 and in Park Falls from 1964 to 1979. From 1974 to 1994, he was a substitute pastor in various pulpits.
He was a member of United Church of Christ, Delevan.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, David (Sharon) Glick of Neenah, Dennis (Connie) Glick of N. Aurora, IL, Rev. Phillip (Barbara) Glick of Ahoskie, NC, and Capt. James (Linda) Glick of Powder Springs, GA; two daughters, Sharon (Roger) Shattner of Franksville and Alice (Ray) Zwaagstra of Belvidere, IL; two brothers, John and Wesley; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Patterson
Charlotte Patterson, 81, of Park Falls, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls.
Services were held Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Park Falls; Rev. Henry Boynton officiating.
Burial was in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
An Eastern Star service was held Tuesday, April 27.
She was born Sept. 15, 1917, in Fifield. Her parents were Charles and Ebba (Hedlund) Patterson.
She was a graduate of Park Falls High School and received a teaching degree in music from Carlton University in Northfield, MN.
She taugh school at Ewen, MI, Mellen and Fifield; then worked for Patterson Lumber Company in Park Falls.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1949, Grand Ruth in 1961 and as Grand Representative of South Dakota. She also served for many years as secretary and treasurer.
She is survived by many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ryther
Dolores A. "Dodie" Ryther, 72, of Park Falls, died April 21, 1999, at Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls, following a long illness.
Services were held Monday, April 26, at Michaelson Funeral Homes, Owatonna, MN; Rev. Carl Caskey officiating.
Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin, MN.
She was born Sept. 7, 1926, in Albert Lea, MN. Her parents were Lester H. and Allene (Metcalf) Ryther.
She moved with her family to Owatonna in 1932, where her parents opened the Town Treat Cafe. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1944.
She graduated as a registered nurse from St. Mary's School of Nursing, Rochester, MN, in 1948.
She worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester until 1952, when she returned to Owatonna as office nurse for Dr. Joseph F. Schaffer, a position she held until his retirement. She was then employed at Owatonna Hospital until 1972, when she changed careers and moved to Minneapolis to work for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency as secretary to the head of the solid waste division. She retired in 1986.
She moved to Park Falls in 1991 to be close to her sister.
While in Owatonna, she was an active member of the Business and Professional Women, holding various offices, including president. She was a member of the Owatonna United Methodist Church and served on various boards and committees at the church.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed being with family, friends and family pets.
She is survived by her sister, Sharon (Sherry) Ryther of Park Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
