Barbara J. Gear, 49, of Butternut, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, March 25, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Butternut; Rev. Michael Paholke officiating.
Burial of cremains will be in Butternut Union Cemetery.
She was born Jan. 3, 1950, in Butternut.
After graduation from Butternut High School, she moved to New York, NY, where she married Gary Mutschler in 1969. The couple moved to California. They later divorced and she returned to Butternut in 1990.
A homemaker, she worked as a legal secretary and as a nurse's aide at Park Manor Nursing Home and Community Health Resources, both in Park Falls. She recently was employed at Birds Eye Veneer Mill in Butternut.
She is survived by a son, Eric Mutschler of Marshfield; her mother, Ruth Gear of Butternut; a sister, Susan Graf of Green Bay; three brothers, Lester (Debra) Gear of St. Francis, Lyle (Belinda) Gear of Roy, UT, and Keith (Jackie) Gear of Atwood, IL; and by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lyle Mutschler, a granddaughter, Heather Mutschler; and her father.
Graf
Karl W. Graf, 91, of Butternut, died March 16, 1999, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips.
A memorial service was held Monday, March 22, at Peace Lutheran Church, Park Falls; Pastor Stanley G. Bahn officiating.
Burial was in Nola Cemetery, Park Falls.
He was born Dec. 4, 1907, in Butternut. His parents were Willam B. and Amanda (Bach) Graf. He graduated from Butternut High School and was a life-long resident of the Butternut area.
The family owned the Trails End family resort on Butternut Lake. He was a fishing guide on Butternut Lake and the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage.
He operated a dairy farm in the town of Chippewa and served for 52 years as clerk for the town.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, the Flambeau Area Sportsmans Club and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; three children, Dr. David (Diane) Graf of Batavia, IL, Marjorie (Alan) Graf-Graves of Edmonds, WA, and William (Judith) Graf of Issaquah, WA; three grandchildren; a sister, Caroline (John) Kuhn of Minocqau; and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Willard; and a sister, Estelle Klein.
Hinterberg
Joseph J. Hinterberg, 91, of Park Falls, and formerly of Butternut, died Monday, March 15, 1999, at Park Manor Nursing Home, Park Falls.
Services were held Friday, March 19, at the Novitzke Funeral Home Chapel, Park Falls; Rev. Henry Boynton officiating.
Burial will be in the spring in Butternut Union Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 21, 1907, in Eau Claire. His parents were Fred and Elsie (Waak) Hinterberg.
He married Elsie A. Boness Dec. 22, 1935, in Butternut.
The couple lived for a time in Mellen, then returned to Butternut.
He was a farmer, logger and owner and operator of Joe's Electric Service.
He served on town boards in both Butternut and the town of Lake.
He is survived by a son, LaVern "Bud" (Sandra) Hinterberg of Butternut; two daughters, Margaret (David) Everett of Eagle River and Darlene Hinterberg of West Allis; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Emma Boness of Butternut; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and by seven brothers and sisters.
Lemke
Robert Lee Lemke, 70, of Willow City, ND, died Sunday, March 7, 1999.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 13, at Nero Funeral Home, Bottinueau, ND.
The body was cremated.
He was born July 21, 1928, in Park Falls. His parents were Harriett and Emil Lemke Sr.
He grew up and attended school in Park Falls.
He married Doris St. Claire Oct. 18, 1950, in Park Falls. She preceded him in death July 3, 1978.
He entered the Army Nov. 27, 1950, served in Germany and was discharged Oct. 31, 1952.
The couple lived in Milwaukee for a time, then moved to Dunseith, ND, in 1957.
He was employed on road construction and later worked as a mechanic. He owned and operated the Standard Service Station in Dunseith and was later employed by Border States Paving Co. He retired in 1994 and moved to Willow City in 1995.
He is survived by four daughters, Roberta Rude and Rebecca Rude, both of Bottineau, Lisa Kinsey of Willow City and Faith Kieffer of Cando, ND; two sons, Lester of Willow City and Fred of Bottineau; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin of Paradise, CA; three sisters, Marian Wardensky and Ruth Netzel, both of Park Falls; and Carol Radlinger of Oshkosh; and a companion, Ruth Belgarde of Dunseith.
Morman
Hannah Jean Morman, 2, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday, March 13, 1999, at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids.
Services were held Tuesday, March 16, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids; Rev. Paul Tullberg officiating.
Burial was in Pioneer Cemetery in the town of Saratoga.
She was born April 29, 1996, in Wisconsin Rapids. Her parents are Cory and Stephanie (Schmidt) Morman.
Hannah was the light of her family's life and made everyone around her happy. She left a lifetime of memories from her short life.
She is survived by her parents; a brother, Jacob; grandparents Ken and Eileen Schmidt of Durand, John and Josie Haase of Wisconsin Rapids and Jim Morman and Jill Brandt, also of Wisconsin Rapids; four great-grandparents, Eleanor Lavin of Butternut, Adeline Schmidt of Park Falls and Eleanora Frostman and Gene Morman, both of Wisconsin Rapids; aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by four great-grandfathers.
Wallner
Florence M. Wallner, 75, of Palmer, AK, and formerly of Butternut, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Providence Alaska Medical Center.
Services were held Tuesday, March 23, at Valley Baptist Tabernacle, Palmer.
Burial was in Palmer Pioneer Cemetery.
She was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Steuben, MI. Her parents were Frank and Louise (Harris) Morford.
She attended school in Butternut.
She married Adolph Rominske in Muningsing, MI, in 1940. They had four children and were married for 22 years until his death.
She married Leonard Wallner in 1965 in Waukegan, IL.
She and her husband moved to Alaska with a small caravan of friends with the intent of a better life and settled in Palmer. She worked for many years at the Frontier Cafe and became well known for her cinnamon rolls and pies.
She was a member of Valley Baptist Tabernacle and Palmer Emblem Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking. She was devoted to the Lord and her church family. She had a very special place in her heart for animals.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Janice "Dolly" Walker of Columbia, KY, and Jean (Jerry) Brooks of Ashland; two sons, Gerald "Jerry" (Pauline) Rominske of Columbia, KY, and James "Jim" Rominske of Cudahy; two stepsons, Leonard (Vicki) Wallner of Palmer, AK, and Anthony "Tony" Wallner of Sheboygan; six sisters, Viola (Elmer) Crum of Beaver Dam, Donna (Joseph) Gropp of Iron Mountain, MI; Millie (Ray) Overholt of Battle Creek, MI, Marjorie Theme of Beaver Dam, Patsy (George) Schimek of Stevens Point and Opal (Leon) Smetak of Park Falls; a brother, Herbert (Wilma) Morford of Park Falls; two stepsisters, Bonnie (Jim) Wartgow of Glidden and Carol Fisher of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; a son-in-law, Charles Walker; and a stepson, Raymond Wallner.
Gropp
Joseph W. Gropp, 82, of Kingsford, MI, and formerly of Park Falls, died Friday, March 26, 1999, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Milwaukee.
Services were held Tuesday, March 30, at the Morasky-Messar Funeral Home, Wausaukee; Rev. Russell Tillotson officiating.
Burial was in Amberg Cemetery, Amberg.
He was born Feb. 8, 1917, in Park Falls. His parents were Joseph and Anna (Stubblefield) Grapp.
He married Donna Morford March 16, 1946, in Park FAlls.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Amberg Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans posts.
He was a mechanic for Gateway Transportation in Chicago, IL, until moving to Amberg in 1976, where he owned and operated the Amberg Pub.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Gary Joseph (Carolyn) Gropp of Cohasset, MN; five daughters, Judith (Allen) Pritzl of Park Falls, Vicki Gropp of Carol Stream, IL, Kathleen White of Goodman, Deborah Estrada of Bridgeview, IL, and Kelly Gropp of Kingsford, MI; a brother, Frank Gropp of Spokane, WA; a sister, Adeline Black of Amarillo, TX; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, JoAnn; a brother, Ivan Gropp; and a sister, Viola Severt.
