Clarence C. Sackman, 69, Stetsonville, died Tuesday, Oct. 26 under hospice care at his daughter's home in the Town of Deer Creek.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 29 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Rev. Dennis Meulemans officiating. Cremainal interment took place at Stetsonville Public Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandchildren Dale and Patrick Adams, Jeffrey Klinger, Jr., Samantha Klinger, Alex Zagorski, and James Zagorski.
Hemer Funeral Home in Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
Clarence C. Sackman was born January 23, 1930 at the Town of Deer Creek to the late John and Elizabeth (Massoth) Sackman. He attended Spruce Grove Elementary School and graduated from Medford Area Senior High in 1949.
His marriage to Elizabeth F. Baumer, who survives, took place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville on June 9, 1953.
He worked on the Ben Ruesch mink ranch in Medford, hauled lime for Herman Eggert and then worked as a milk distributor for Parkin Dairy and later Morning Glory Distributing for 25 years until his retirement in 1995. He then worked on Ed Brecke's mink ranch in Stetsonville until the time of his death. He enjoyed hobby farming and working in the woods.
He was a member of the Medford National Guard Reserves.
In addition to his wife, survivors include, four sons, Ronald, Randy, Brian, and Rick, all of the Town of Deer Creek; three daughters, Lennethe Adams, Medford, Theresa (Samuel) Zagorski, Withee, and Kathryn (Jeff) Klinger, Medford; two brothers, Robert (Lillian), Medford, and Herbert (Jane), Muskego; five sisters, Annabelle (Glen) Moorhead, Ontario, Canada, Caroline (Robert) Viel, Milwaukee, Nora Hornak, Big Bend, Leona "Sue" (Harold) Hornak, New Berlin, and Sister Mary Angela, Wausau; and six grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Schriener, and four brothers, William, Joseph, Valentine, and Kenneth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to either Hope Hospice of Rib Lake or the family.
Milton House
(1928-1999)
Whittlesey native Milton Earl House, 70, died October 17 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Racine.
Maresh-Meredith Funeral Home in Racine assisted the family with arrangements.
Milton House was born October 30, 1928 at Whittlesey to the late Earl and Gladys (Speers) House.
He was employed at Lakeside Foundry for 19 years and retired from J. I. Case Company.
Survivors include three children, Raymond, Tucson, Ariz., Irene (George) Billings, Racine, and Robin House, Russell, Kan.; two brothers, Edward (Evelyn), Waupaca, and Archie (Pat), Green Bay; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Harold O'Connell
(1907-1999)
Harold "Jerry" O'Connell, 91, Gilman, died October 30 at Zastrow Care Center in Gilman.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman with Rev. Phillip Juza officiating. Visitation was held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Gilman Funeral Home. Burial took place at Meadowbrook Cemetery. Members of Gilman American Legion Post served as pallbearers and conducted military graveside rites.
Harold O'Connell was born December 26, 1907 at LeSuer, Minn., to the late Henry and Mary (Doughtery) O'Connell. He grew up in Minnesota. He served in the US Army in WWII participating in the Battle of the Bulge. After his discharge, he came to Gilman, where he farmed in the Town of Ford until retirement. He then moved to the Village of Gilman where he has resided since.
His marriage to the former Mary Flock took place at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman on May 8, 1954.
He was an active member of the Gilman American Legion.
Survivors include three step-sons, Robert Flock, Iron River, Richard Flock, Burlington, and Leo Flock, Racine; four step-daughters, Katherine Kexel, Marshfield, Eleanor Krapp, Indianapolis, Ind., Ruth Staudinger, Racine, and Caroline Sydlo, Union Grove; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rosella, and two step-sons, Ted and Phillip Flock.
Virginia Shadrick
(1925-1999)
Virginia V. Shadrick, 74, Town of Goodrich, died Tuesday, October 26 at Memorial Hospital in Medford.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 30 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Dorchester with Robert Ruprich officiating.
Hemer Funeral Home in Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
The former Virginia V. Janko was born May 27, 1925 at Chicago to the late Frank and Mary (Kmet) Janko. She attended elementary school in the Town of Browning and graduated in 1943 from Medford Area Senior High.
Her marriage to Roland Bergmann took place at Athens in 1944. They were later divorced. Her marriage to Roy Shadrick, who survives, took place at Medford in 1974.
After her education she worked for Cuttler Hammer in Milwaukee. She and her first husband farmed and raised their family in the Town of Goodrich. She enjoyed gardening and music.
She was a member of the Dorchester Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Judy (Rick) Cherington, Gilbert, Ariz.; two sons, Gary (Anita) Bergmann, Madison, and Steve (Deidre) Bergmann, Patterson, N.Y.; one brother, Rudolph Janko, Town of Browning; eight step-children; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Donald.
Phyllis M. Burkard
Phyllis M. Burkard, 81, of 2311 Main Avenue, passed away Monday, October 15, 2001, at Encore Senior Living where she had been residing since September.
Born March 14, 1920 in South Hampton, England, Phyllis was a daughter of the late William and Maude Liney Ford.
On April 19, 1947, she was united in marriage to Leo A. Burkard at the parsonage of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. They were married for 52 years before Leo preceded her in death on March 16, 2000.
She was a member of St. Dominic Parish Family and a member of the St. Ann's Society. Phyllis was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She loved to garden and took great pride in her African violets. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, playing cards with her card club, going for rides out in the Kettles, and was an avid fan of watching golf on television.
Phyllis is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Rohde and Mary (Michael) Farmer, both of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Matthew Rohde and fiancé Patricia Rahmer, Sara Rohde, Amanda Rohde, Michelle Farmer and fiancé Patrick Harris, Sheboygan; one great-granddaughter, Lydia Harris, all of Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, Leo, she was preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Reynolds.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Phyllis M. Burkard will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, N. 21st and Geele Ave. with the Rev. James Jarumbo, Pastor, as celebrant. Entombment will be in Garden of Peace Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass.

Raymond J. Butzen
Raymond J. Butzen, 80, formerly of 815 Logan Ave. died Thursday, October 4, 2001, at Greendale Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born September 27, 1921, in Sheboygan, Raymond was a son of the late John and Anna Brand Butzen. Ray attended Holy Name Grade School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1939. He served his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Martha's Vineyard, MA. On May 13, 1944, he was united in marriage to Katherine Schoemer in Kohler.
Raymond was employed for 24 years as a Tool & Die Maker at Northland Plastics, retiring in 1985. He was previously employed by K.W. Muth Company.
Mr. Butzen was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, leather tooling, fishing, golfing, hunting and crafts.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine; five children, Patricia (Butch) Berg, Marshfield, WI, Robert (Barb) Butzen, Howard, WI, Thomas (Sharrol) Butzen, Sheboygan, John (Laura) Butzen, Elkhart Lake, WI, Mary (Francis) Butzen-Salm, Cleveland, WI; 11 grandchildren, Jeff (Lisa) Berg, Rick (Sandy) Berg, Stuart (Amy) Butzen, Sarah Butzen, Anna Butzen, Erik Butzen, Hannah Butzen, Katie Butzen, Michael Butzen, Ryan Salm, Shana Salm; two great-grandchildren, Amanda Butzen, Brandon Berg and two brothers, Donald (Lorraine) Butzen, Arcadia, CA, Richard (Mary) Butzen, Sheboygan; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2001 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 807 Superior Ave., with the Rev. James Connell, pastor as celebrant. Relatives and friends are welcome at the church on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

James W. Dassler
James W. Dassler, 66, of 2420 Broadway Ave., died Tuesday, October 9, 2001, at his home.
Born July 8, 1935, in Sheboygan, James was a son of Elizabeth Martin Dassler and the late Melvin Dassler. On July 2, 1955, he was united in marriage to LaVonne Wilke at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church. The couple was married for 42 years before LaVonne preceded him in death on December 2, 1997.
Mr. Dassler was employed by The Vollrath Company for more than 40 years, retiring in 1997.
Jim was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
He is survived two daughters, Jill (Steven) Van Wyk and Kelly (Michael) Hovey, both of Sheboygan; three grandchildren, Shawn & Stacy Van Wyk, Evan Hovey, all of Sheboygan; his motherm Elizabeth Dassler, Sheboygan; three sisters and two brothers, Shirley Boggess, Jacksonville, FL, Joyce Adams, Sheboygan, Donald (Lisa) Dassler, Sheboygan, Larry (Mary Jane) Dassler, Sheboygan, Denise (Jay) Verlare, Sheboygan Falls, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Patsy and his father, Melvin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2001, at Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. The Rev. Martinho Sander, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, will officiate. Relatives and friends are welcome at the Lippert Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
