Jane G. Ryan
Jane G. Ryan, 87, died Sunday aftemoon, November 12, 2000, at her home. Born February 11,1915, in Idaho, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Jenny (Coolidge) Holmes. She has lived 50 years in Davis, Ill., coming here from the Indianapolis, Indiana, area. She married LeLand Kirkpatrick in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1940; he passed away in 1965. Then she married William Isom in 1968; he passed away in 1978. Then she married Frank Ryan in 1980 and he passed away in 2000.
She was employed by an Independent Insurance Agent and Grain Dealers Mutual Company in Indianapolis. Then as Secretary for Lake Summerset Association and helped publish the Lake Summerset News. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, served as a Eucharist Minister, held various offices in St. Anne's Sodality; Former Secretary of St. Mary Catholic Church, Former Officer of the Lake Summerset Yacht Club, avid Bridge player, Treasurer of the Ladies bowling League and an avid bowler, and active in the Indiana Symphonic Choir. She attended Purdue University. She is survived by 5 daughters, Sharyn (William Donaldson) Kirkpatrick of Trempealeau, Wis., Sheryl (Jim) Beckham of Plymouth, Ind., and Geraldine "Geri" Ryan of Lake Summerset; 4 sons, David (Sara) Mulvain and J. Michael (Pat) Mulvain all of Durand, Ill, Ned (Mary Ann) Isom of Sedonia, Ariz. and Richard Isom of Chicago, Ill; 11 grandchildren, Kirk Beckham of Indianapolis, Ind. Kristine Pierson of Chandier, Ariz., Kelsey and Kourtney Beckham of Plymouth, Ind., Mlchael and Katie Donaldson and Erica Schock, all of Trempealeau, Wis., Michael Williams and Michelle Ryan both of Rockford Ill., Laura Williams of Watertown, Wis. and Mark Mulvain of Lake Summerset, Ill.; and 6 greatgrandchildren. She is preceded by her parents and grandchildren Kyle Beckham and Michael Mulvain.
Prayers will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2000, in McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 W. Main St., Durand, Ill., with Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Thomas Monahan officiating. Burial in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Monroe (Wis.) clinic Hospice Assoc., St. Mary Catholic Church, American Cancer Society.

Clinton G. Renning
Clinton G. Kenning, 78, of Galesville died Saturday, November 11, 2000, at Marinuka Manor in Galesville, Wis. Clinton was born June 6, 1922, to Parker and Clara (Anneson) Renning in the Town of Preston. He attended area schools. On December 12, 1953, he married Shirley (Bakken) in the Blair Parsonage. Clinton worked at Babson Brothers for many years.
Clinton is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Karen (Wendell) Ziegler of Galesville, Cindy Schuppe of Oregon, Wis., a daughter-in-law, Loretta Renning of Galesville; 5 grandchildren, Mandy Ziegler, Sarah Ziegler, Cory Schuppe, Casie Schuppe and Patience Renning; a sister Thelma Overby of Taylor, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Steve and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at French Creek Lutheran Church. Rev. E. Marlene Pankonin officiated. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery, Blair, Wis.
Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel, assisted the family.

Marguerite Rowlands
Marguerite "Muggy" C. Rowlands, 69, of Trempealeau and formerly Galesville, died Tuesday, January 16, 2001 in her home.
She was born January 28, 1931 in Clintonville, Wis. to William and Caroline (Firehammer) Schauder. In 1953 she graduated from Milwaukee-Downer College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree going on to teach music and business education in the Wisconsin School System, most recently at G-E-T. On June 27 of the same year she married Don Rowlands. They later divorced.
Muggy was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Galesville, a founding member of the Galesville Music Study Club and enjoyed sharing her avid musical talents having played piano at various area nursing homes. Muggy also gave piano lessons in the Galesville area. She loved to read, play the piano and enjoyed swimming at the YMCA.
Survivors are 2 sons, David (Mary Jo) Rowlands of Rochester, Minn. and Michael Rowlands of Fremont, Calif: a grandson Joshua Ziesmer of Duluth, Minn; her cat B.G.. and many dear friends.
Two sisters, Lois Van Boxtel and Phyllis Luedke preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 20, 2001, in Zion Lutheran Church, Galesville. Rev. Arnold Flater officiated. Burial at a later date in Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville, Wis.
Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church, Galesville.
Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel assisted with arrangements.

John Lynn Nickles
John L. Nickles, 93, a resident of Southwest Health Center, Cuba City, Wis. passed on to eternal life on January I, 2001. He was born on June 25, 1907 in Potosi, Wis. to John and Dora Nickles. He owned a bar in Potosi and one in Fairplay for almost 10 years. He worked logging in the winter and farming in the summer. He also worked on the railroad, and retired at the age of 80 from the Lancaster Care Center.
John is survived by his brother Fred (Helen) Nickles, Onalaska, Wis., one nephew John (Pat) Nickles, Galesville, Wis., and one niece Julie Nickles, New Delhi, India. He was preceded into eternal life by his parents and his sister Ruth (Hillmer) Weise.
Graveside services were Wednesday, January 10, 2001 at the Cassville Cemetery. Rev. Sue Trickey officiated.
The Metcalfe-Kuenster-Page Funeral llome in Cassville served the family.

Roger E. Paul
Roger E. Paul, 72, of Trempealeau, died Friday,
November 24, 2000 in his home after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Roger was born April 7, 1928 to Eugene and Jenny (Lindrud) Paul in Colgate, Wis. He attended area schools. Roger served in the Army from 1946 - 1948.
On August 17, 1949 Roger married Lorraine (Olson) in Bells Coulee Lutheran Church. They moved to the Trempealeau area. Roger was employed by Brennan Engineering as a master mechanic for many years. He was a member of Towner Littlebear Arnold V.F.W. Post 1915.
Roger is survived by his wife Lorraine; 2 sons, John (Brenda) Paul of West Salem, Wis., Michael (Mary) Paul of Auburndale, Wis; a daughter, Sandra (Kevin) Kopp of Galesville, Wis; 7 granddaughters;
2 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lee Paul of Bruce, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, November 29, 2000 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Trempealeau. Rev. Jerry Hanson officiated. It was RogerŐs wish to be cremated.
Zwickey Funeral Homes Galesville Chapel assisted the family.

Gregory T. Quall
Gregory "Greg" Todd Quall, 41, of Galesville, died Monday, November 13, 2000 at home. He was born Sept. 29, 1959 in La Crosse, Wis. to Raymond and Lillian (Solberg) Quall.
Greg enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed being with family and friends. Greg was always there to help others.
Survivors are 3 brothers, Steve, Mark and Edwin, all of Galesville; 4 sisters, Laurie Murray of Galesville, Pam (Bernie) Bisek of Holmen, Lisa (La Verne) Massman of La Crescent, Minn., Darcy (Bob) Russell of Tazewell, Tenn; nieces and nephews.
His parents, grandparents and a sister preceded him in death. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000 at Long Coulee Cemetery, rural Holmen. Rev. Dr. R. Steven Krueger officiated. Memorial services were at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000 at Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel.

Cora Belle Oberholtzer
Cora Belle Oberholtzer, 90, formerly of Holmen, died Monday, May 3, 1999 in Everett, Wash. after a long illness. She was born Dec. 9, 1908 in Platteville, Wis.
Cora graduated from State Teachers College at Platteville in 1936. She then taught in rural schools as an elementary educator for several years. She attended the University of Chicago, University of Mexico and University of Colorado where she earned an M.A. Degree in Geography and History in 1942.
For a period of time during WWII Cora was employed by the U.S. State Department.
She never married.
Survivors are 5 nieces and 3 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters.
Her body was cremated.
Graveside committal services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 1999 in Green Mound Cemetery, rural Holmen with Pastor Jerry Hanson officiating.
Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville, Wis. assisted the family with arrangements.
